Ezekiel was not afraid of the needles, however, he did not want Jerissa to get hurt. He could try blocking the needles, hoping that the Goddess' powers could protect them. However, there wasn't any assurance it would happen. He must not rely on a what-if solution. He needed to be a hundred percent sure of his tactic.

There was only one solution, a sure way to escape.

"Jerissa, never let go of my hand," he aided her to intertwine her fingers with his. Making sure Jerissa was holding onto him as tight as possible, he took out the golden key.

But instead of using it the usual way, Ezekiel crouched, and he turned the key facing the floor.

And as soon as he did, he and Jerissa fell down. Fortunately, Ezekiel was able to take out the key from the hole, thus making the portal immediately disappear.

THUD! THUD!
