章 7: chapter 5: Disappearing into the infinite darkness
Ray was quite amazed by the carriage he was riding. Although he absolutely didn't want to appreciate his enemy's carriage but the carriage was really comfortable. Although the carriage was running through the forest but there wasn't a little bit of tremor inside. "Some kind of magic maybe" Ray wondered. Besides the creepy gaze of king Stephen everything else was okay. Suddenly the carriage stopped. If the scenery outside the small carriage window hadn't stopped he might be remained in dark.
"Your highness, we have reached the first magic transportation circle." One of the fellow subordinate or knight spoke from outside. King Stephen descended from the carriage holding Ray's basket roughly. Then hurriedly moved forward towards a huge magic circle which were glowing brightly with golden light. Ray looked at the huge magic circle pattern curiously. Surrounding the magic circle there were about thirty long blue robed man standing in a particular distance. They were continuously sending a golden shining light from their body to the magic circle. Their faces were very pale as if their life force had been sucked dry.
"They might be the legendary mages described in the fantasy books" Ray thought.
"Has everything been prepared?" Stephen asked a blue robed man who was leading the thirty men.
" Yes your highness."
Stephen didn't speak nonsense anymore and rushed to the centre of circle. Soon the blue robed mages began to chant some gibberish in unison and the circle glowed brighter and brighter. But to Ray their chanting seemed quite "irritating" to the ear like some devil's whisper in horror movie.
" It's not at all pleasant like those online novels say." Ray annoyingly thought. Soon the bright light covered his vision and he had to close his eyes. When he opened his eyes he was in a completely different place.
"waa..ai..ah??!!" -wow. Ray was amazed. "It's really a transportation magic circle."
Ray's attention was soon captivated by a new magic circle nearby. There were about sixty mages supplying their magic in the circle. This circle was far more complicated and weird than the previous magic circle. Well 'weird' might not be the right word to describe it. It was pure 'evil'. Cause the bright light magic supplied by the mages were all transformed into pure dark magic by the magic circle. No, the magic circle wasn't exactly transforming the light magic into dark but the artefact that resided in the centre of it. It was a small rectangular platform with a half meter length leg in the centre that supported it and it was painted in black. The platform was decorated with four black gems at the four corners which even in the dark were glowing with black lustre. The platform was inscribed with innumerable unrecognisable spells which also were glowing mysteriously.
"How's everything going Ben?" Stephen asked, " You better hurry."
A mage as peculiar as Stephen approached him. The mage's black hair was like bird's nest and his eyes were like panda because of the dark circles. He hurriedly said,
"Your highness, everything is ready. With the first ray of dawn we will start the ceremony. Your highness, first place the child on the platform. The sun will rise at any moment."
Stephen hurriedly went into the circle to place the basket on the platform. But as soon as he entered a cold shiver ran through his spine. The dark magic was too strong here. He placed Ray's basket on the platform and smiled creepily at him, "how are you feeling little devil? Cold, isn't it? You know a normal child would die the moment they entered such high intensity dark magic field. But look at you,.....you are only slightly shivering. You ... surely are a living miracle, aren't you? So how could i allow you to live. But don't die on me here. okay? Die on the other side. Hahaha..."
Soon the first ray of dawn touched the magic circle. Stephen hurriedly left the circle. The mages began their chanting, this time more loudly. The circle glowed with black light intensely in contrast to the upcoming dawn. It was as if life and death were confronting each other but death was spreading it's hideous claws onto life while destroying it.
"Too dark...too cold... can't breathe..." Ray in the midst of the circle was suffocating. There wasn't a little bit of light he could see. His whole body was bursting with pain as if someone was pricking thousands of cold needles all over his body. He was a little scared at this moment. In his last life he had no family, no ties in the world so at the face of death he was relieved. But in this life he had family. Though he spent only few minutes with them he tasted the sweet love and he was addicted. He wanted more of that love. He wanted to live.
Suddenly the pendent around his neck given by his mother began to emit a soft glow which surrounded his entire body and eventually made a barrier around him. The pain and cold disappeared slowly. Ray could breath again. But it could only prevent the dark magic from entering the barrier not the dimensional transportation. Soon there appeared a big dimensional crack above him out of nowhere in the air. The crack opened to form a giant hole. Inside the hole was infinite darkness which had no end.
Even Ray who had lurked in the world of darkness, trembled. In no time the dimensional hole sucked him in it's immense darkness. At this moment he seemed to heard a ferocious roar and his mother's voice calling his name desperately and some other male voices. Well it might be death previous illusion.
After that Ray fainted.

Imogen was flying as fast as possible. At this moment he noticed a intense black light some distance away. He quickened his flying pace. Arnold and Alexa also noticed it at this moment. Their faces paled. Arnold gritted his teeth, " Such dense dark magic!!"
As they drew near they saw a giant dimension crack appeared above a huge ominous magic circle. Alexa's heart almost stopped. Lucas's eyes widened.
As the dimensional hole sucked the dark magic the darkness reduced. Then they saw a basket placed on a platform and a child lying in it.
Alexa cried out,"Ray ...!!!!!"
Arnold lost it. That's his precious child. But he had been suffering alone in the suffocating dark magic alone.
Imogen saw the child and roared with all his might to stop the upcoming event but he was a little bit late cause as soon as he landed near the magic circle the dimension hole sucked Ray inside it's infinite darkness and then closed and disappeared completely as if it was never there.
Lucas couldn't believe it. Their little youngest brother just disappeared and King Stephen said his soul will be destroyed, meaning he would never exist again. Lucas teared up.
Alexa went into daze. She thought the goddess's blessings would protect her son but this blessings now acted more worse than a curse. His son's whole existence was gone.
Arnold and Imogen were both so very angry that their whole body was shaking. Anger, frustration and helplessness mixed together and created a emotional turmoil in them. It was as if they were at brink of losing sanity. They looked at Stephen like he was a dead man.
