"He's the one we've been waiting for." master Shi De said enthusiastically. The relationship between master Shi De and the grand master was quite good, so they communicated cordially.
The grand master nodded showing no expression. "Ummm. We should retire for the night, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. You wouldn't want to sleep over the sangha day celebration." He reminded Shi De who seemed to have forgotten.
"Right. How can I forget? This is an important event; even if I grow twice your age, I still wouldn't forget." He teased knowing fully well that the grand master didn't like talking about his age.
"You punk! I am being lenient on you because we are in the temple, you just wait till we step out of these walls then I'll show you what I'm truly made of. I'll show you that this young, handsome dude is still a tough bad a** as ever."
"__"
This word of his caused even him to chuckle. How can he still talk like this after so many decades? Master Shi De could not help but think that this old nerd will never change. It was a good thing to have him around, at least, now someone could tame the dragon and bring him back to the world which he has long left. As he thought about this, he stared intently at Zagan. 'The grand master is the only one that can help you now.'
After diner, they all retired to bed while Zagan who was looking like a walking skeleton, waited for everyone to sleep before going to the top of the mountain as usual. The sky which was dark, but still had clounds hovering over it. Surely, it was going to rain but this would not make him relent on meditating.
He sat in the cold flowing water with his legs crossed and his eyes closed. After a few minutes, it began to pour heavily that it felt like a thunder storm was going to attack the temple. Thanks to his stamina, he wasn't blown away by the wind. After an unexpected short while, he couldn't hear the rain pouring anymore and neither could he feel it on his body.
'How's it possible that the rain that was wailing like it would never end, stopped without any notice?' He wondered. But then, he realized something else. The unending water that was flowing at the mountain top had stopped, in fact it was dry. What on earth was going on?
He opened his eyes slightly and found himself in his room, under a warm sheet of blanket. He got off the bed and stared at the room confusingly. What just happened? When did I get back down? His head was throbbing from this unexpected expenditure. He looked at his clothes which was still wet and wondered why the bed and blanket was dry.
'I was probably to tired and slept off on the mountain top. Its possible that master Shi De was the one who brought me back here.' Having that thought, he shrugged the unthinkable.
He walked towards the door and saw an empty hallway just as it was yesterday. What exactly is going on? Why do they all disappear so early in the morning these days? Could it be that the grand master has requested for all of us to wake up on time? Oh! today must be the sangha celebration.' he placed his hand on his forehead. How could I have forgotten?
He then ran to the training field because he felt he had over slept but found no one as well. Just as he was about to leave, he heard the sound of a familiar voice.
"Why are you still here? Everyone has gathered by the gate. Didn't you know about the welcoming of the grand master?" Zagan turned to look at who had spoken and found it to be Sun Xu. He had the same clothes he was wearing yesterday and asked the same question. 'Could there be another grand master?' How's this possible? Didn't all these happen yesterday? He wondered. He was still lost in thoughts when he heard Sun Xu's next sentence. "Quick Yang, follow me to the gate. It will not speak well of you if you miss the welcoming."
Gates? Welcoming? What is going on here? How did all this happen? Sun Xu picked up the same wooden box he had carried yesterday and began to walk towards the gate but Zagan did not follow him instead, he ran back to the to his room which caused Sun Xu to wonder what was happening.
He ran as fast as he could back to his room and shut the door then squat on the cold floor. He couldn't understand what was going on. Suddenly, he heard the sound of people screaming and the roaring sound of what sounded like a dragon.
He stood up and peeped through an opening on his door. He saw the monks fighting off a huge beast, in fact, two huge beasts. Wait! He had seen this scene before. He slowly unlocked his door and walked out. All the monks were busy fighting off small yet fast beasts while Lu Feng and master Shi De were fighting the two big ones. Wasn't Lu Feng supposed to be dead? How did he come back and why did this creatures return. What was worse was the fact that a few minutes ago it was morning and now, it's already late at night. Was this a dream or an illusion? Why did it feel so real?
He had seen this before Lu Feng was going to die very soon. No! he wouldn't let it happen again. He ran towards Lu Feng to try and stop the attack but just as he hugged Lu Feng and switched the position his body with that of Lu Feng's, even after a long time, he felt no pain. What happened?
He opened his eyes and saw a helpless face. This face broke his heart.
"Make sure you keep this amulet safe. This is our last heritage; guard it with your life. You are special Zagan, always remember that. They are coming. Run... Zagan, Run." He felt his heart, body, soul, spirit and mind deteriorating.
'No! Not again.' He removed himself from her embrace but didn't move an inch. Instead, he held her hand and placed her behind him. He didn't know if this was an illusion but whatever it was, he'll make sure to protect her this time around. The Lynx caln warrior came closer but this time, he fought with all that was within him. Unfortunately he became outnumbered and an arrow from one of the warriors, pierce through his side.
"He's bleeding! What do we do? We can't just let him die. We have to wake him up otherwise, he'll get himself killed." Master Shi De was alerted by what was happening. He couldn't just watch the poor boy die as he laid on the top of the mountain.
The grand master on the other hand, had an expressionless face. "You worry too much this is an expedition he'll have to go through sooner or later waking him up now will only make matters worse."
