As he had instructed, I jumped into the water, holding my breath and squeezing my eyes shut as the water surrounded all my senses once again.
I didn't open my eyes until I felt the soft feel of his hand patting my cheek and then slowly, I opened my eyes, being met with his pink eyes which were now glowing like a lightbulb. I wonder if that's how he co-ordinates himself through the ocean's dark depths.
"Breathe," he whispered, trailing his forefinger over my lips.
And reluctantly, I parted my lips, waiting for the ocean to try drowning me and for him to start laughing in that childish way again but none of that happened and I was able to successfully breathe in lungfuls of air.
