章 51: Chapter 51 Are you sure you want to try me?
"So this kinda reminds me of MMA tournaments your Dad used to watch." I just about jumped out of my skin when my mother spoke from behind me.
"Mother!" I said turning in my chair.
"Hello." She smiled as she leaned on the back of the chair.
"Hey Mom." Loren said.
"Lady Dragon." Maxwell said, nodding.
"Leo, this is my mother, Lady Coralina Dragon." I tell him.
"Hello, Lady Dragon." He said softly.
"Hello, Young Leo!" She smiled at him. "So who are we rooting for in this match?" She asked as we watched the knights from the Torent and Noctis clan.
"Torent knight." I said.
"Umm so why did he just do that?" Leo asked me as the knight had let himself be cut.
"I would say to either test the appointment or to lure him into a false sense of security." I said.
"Oh." He said as his hands twitched.
"That is the ninth time your hands have twitched. What is it?" I asked him.
"I um I want to write all this down but I don't have anything." He said as he looked down and I hummed as my shadow went and got a pad of paper and a pen. He blinked at the shadow holding it out to him. He took it and started writing. I smiled as he watched and wrote.
"Well he seems eager to learn." Mom said, making him blush and I smile.
"But that is the best kind of student." Maxwell laughed. "Do you know how many knights I have trained and it was like pulling teeth with them. "
"Oi!" Renals yelled.
"And you were the worst for it Renals!" He calls back.
"Teacher!" He whines.
"Ho…" Mother started and I looked up to see a vampire having her by the throat. I didn't think I acted as my shadow's moves as I stood wrapping around my mother and yanking my mother away from the vampire.
I grabbed him and flung him into the arena. "What the fuck do you think your doing?" I snarled at him as everyone turned and looked at us as I let Mother go. "You think you can attack a diplomat? I spat at him as I stocked forward.
"There nothing but food." He hissed as I used my lightning to get me in front of him.
"YOu think you can attack my mother?" I hissed as my hinting knife was in my hand. "I am going to take your fucking eye!" I snarled at him as I moved. He moved to my knife, sliding his ear off.
"Fuck!" He said grabbing his head as I grabbed him by the hair and the shadows to keep him still as I removed his eye. He screams as I do this and then I hold up his eye for everyone to see.
"The next time someone decides they are above the law I will remove both their eyes! Leave the outworld diplomates alone!" I snarled as I shadowed the eye away and storm back to my mother who was leaning against Loe looking horrified.
"I know you said you would do it." She said softly. "But I never thought you would go through with it." She looked at me and I looked at her.
"I have already taken one eye from a member of my own clan Mother, what made you think I would not keep my word?" I asked her.
"Diana." I wrapped us both in shadows because this was not the place to have this conversation. I shadowed us to her room.
"What?" I asked when I dropped us off.
"That is disorienting." She mutters.
"Sorry." I said as she sat down and sighed.
"No I am sorry I know you're not the child I lost, you're a grown woman who has a lot of different life experience and a different culture then the one I have. I am sorry that your way of handling things is a bit disturbing and I am going to say this I am glad your brother is not here and I am sorry if that hurts you."
"If a child would have been in the stands I would not have done that in the arena." I said softly.
"That is good to know." She huffed.
"I am sorry that you are now uncomfortable with me." I told her.
"Oh sweetie no I am uncomfortable with you. I just need to get my head around how vampires react to disrespect of the law." She said softly.
"I understand that Mother." I said standing up and opening my arms. I wanted a hug but I didn't want to push her into something she didn't want.
"Of course I want a hug." She huffed and hugged me close.
I hugged her back. "I went easy because you guys were there." I said softly.
"What would you have done to him if we were not here." I snorted.
"I would have disarmed him quite literally." I told her. "I mean I did cut off his ear but that's because he moved when I went to get his eye." I tell her.
"Yea I am not letting your brother come to any tournaments until he is much older." She huffed.
"I don't want him at a tournament until he is an adult." I tell her. "Children are not allowed to participate in the tournaments or watch the tournaments."
"That is good. But we need to get back." She said as I rolled my eyes and nodded as I moved us back and made us both seats. "Thank you my dear."
"I umm that was awesome how you Gladion." Leo said.
"Oh so he was a Sanguinoso."
"Yea his Dad is the blood supplier he's always getting away with everything." Leo huffed.
"I see I gave him some much needed discipline then." I huffed.
"Yes." He agreed softly.
"Well your form of discipline is not to be taken lightly I see." She said.
"Oh he's lucky it wasn't a bloodbound who stopped him, they would have killed him to make a point." Maxwell said.
"Well that is good to know."
"And from what I have heard your husband should be glad we do not want a war or we all would have tried to kill him." Maxwell huffed.
"Yes that I have heared that." She said with a sigh.
"So what did you do with the eye?" Loren asked me.
"Somewhere it will be safe." I tell her.
"Fine, don't tell me." She pouts.
I smiled and leaned back as Leo taps the paper with the pen. "Diana…"
"Yes hun?"
"How did you turn into lightning? I have seen you use shadows?"
"Before I was a vampire I was a witch and my base element was lightning." I tell him. "As for how to become lightning, how to do that. I would need to do what my Daddy did to me. Which was turning me into lightning." I told him. "I will work with you on that later when we aren't in the middle of the tournament."
"Okay thank you." He said blushing.
"Your welcome little one." I said softly as I watched him note and watch the tournament.
"So I have a question." Mom said.
"What?" I asked.
"Is being a mentor like being a foster parent?" She asked me.
I tilted my head. "Yes and no." Maxwell said. "For someone as old as me, yes. For someone as young as Diana it's like being a foster sibling."
"That makes sense." She nods.
"Well then I guess that makes you my brother." I laughed, making him blush harder.
"You really should stop picking on your poor young one." Magda huffed.
"Oh please." I grinned at her. "If he can not deal with my small picking on then how is he going to handle the rest of you?"
"Oh gee thanks My Lady." Raph huffed.
"Your welcome Head knight." I tell him and then leaned over to Leo. "You also have to watch out for the pages as they like to play pranks on everyone."
"You let them prank people?" He asked me.
"Of course if they can prank a knight or guard then they are not paying attention." I tell him.
"Oh." He said softly.
"And if they can get the chief then they are doing great." Raph said with a huff.
"Why the chiefs?" He asked me as I leaned over and spoke very softly.
"The head chief is the first place assassin and you keep that to yourself little one."
He blushed and nodded. "Yes Ma'am." He said blushing.
"Good." I grinned at him and patted his shoulder.
"So why did he not draw his weapon?" He asked as I looked up at the new match.
"That is a good question. It could be that he is going to stick to elements." I said
"True but that is normally a spinner's job." Maxwell said.
"True but it can happen for a knight as well." I remind him. "There is one behind you right now."
