章 25: Intense Dislike

Farallon City

When Aisling woke up the next morning, she felt alive and refreshed. Her first two nights in Panthalassa had been exceptionally exciting. From collapsing after crossing the barrier to almost dying in the hospital shortly after…

And then, there was Abaddon Rex…

Her face became red and awkward at the memory of what had happened last night. She had felt something that she had never imagined possible. Even though things had not ended well due to Abaddon's injuries, she had an inexplicable desire to see him again.

With the thought, she frowned.

She felt that there was no way that she could be having such thoughts independently. She was not a person who got attached to others quickly. She did not have the desire to be close to anyone.

She always kept her ties to others light, and she would cut them when needed.

When she had left her family in Ireland, she had not thought much about it. She had decided that it was the best decision, and she had just left.

After learning from her teacher in the Carpathian Mountains for a couple of years, she had decided to explore other parts of the world.

She did not have hesitation about leaving, even though she had made many friends there.

As for California, she had merely stared at her cottage for a short nostalgic moment before getting on a yacht. She had never considered not leaving when she had felt it was time.

But now, she had a deep longing that she could not explain. It made her wonder if it was really from her or an external force.

Still, she could not resist the desire in her heart.

She tried to shake away the feeling and went to her new art studio.

She always checked her paintings the morning after working because she could not always comprehend what she painted when she was in the zone.

Sometimes, the final painting would be completely new to her.

She opened the room and walked to the easel with some eager anticipation. After all, this was not a regular painting. She had a little more magical juice while painting it.

However, she felt a little disappointed with the result when she finally looked at it.

She saw a large white bird in the sky looking down on something that looked like a dome. It was a milky white dome, but there were a few black specks in the edges.

Unfortunately, Aisling could not get into the soul of her paintings with ease. She could see everything about it, but she could not experience it the way others did, even though she knew her works were spiritual artefacts.

Perhaps, she looked at them with too much criticism, that they denied her their secrets. Or maybe, the power imbued in them was her own, so she could not sink into it.

However, the more she looked at this new painting, the more she felt like she was missing something important about it. She had invested a lot of her mental energy in making and had drained herself completely before sleeping.

It could not be just the picture of a bird!

As she contemplated whether she should use one of her spells to force herself to see the painting come alive, her doorbell rang.

She sighed a little.

It seemed like she needed to wait.

The dragon lady had come.

She did not bother to change from her sleeping clothes before going downstairs. Dressing up would take long, and she was not willing to rush herself. S

She liked to begin her day right.

Perhaps, Lussa had something important to say.

When she opened her door, she met with the inhuman eyes with a narrow, slit pupil.

Aisling did not know if it was her imagination, but it seemed like the dragon lady was looking at her with intense dislike.

No, it was hate.

Aisling felt confused.

She had not met the woman since the previous day, and things had been fine then. Sure, the woman was condescending, but it did not feel personal.

Perhaps, she was imagining it.

"Ms Flynn, things might be casual in the secular world, but in Farallon, we get dressed and get ready for our work on time." The woman said with a hard voice.

Aisling's lips curved naturally into a smile as if she did not care about the censure.

In her mind, she sighed.

She was definitely not imagining the hate.
