I think Rick can tell that I’m nervous, because he takes my hand and leads me to the bed and sits down next to me. I take a deep breath and look away, blushing furiously. Will I be any good at this? I’m so worried about disappointing him. I was ready and willing to invite him into my bed last night, but now that we are at the moment of truth, I’m hesitating.
“Raven, look at me,” he says. He tips my chin up with his fingers and stares into my eyes.
“I want to please you,” I admit softly. He chuckles and I’m slightly offended before he answers me.
“Don’t you realize you already please me? I know I’m not a man who says a lot of flowery words. I’m a man of action. I’d like to think I’ve shown you my feelings more than said them. I’ve done everything in my power to protect you and to keep you close. Despite my behavior when we met, I’ve never truly been able to let you go,” he says.
“Why?” I ask him.
“Besides the mate bond? Isn’t it obvious?” he asks.
