"How is that possible?" Ace asked looking at the heart monitor coming back to life as he wiped the tears rolling down his face. "How-?" 

"I don't know," Cleo said, as a small screen with the time on it appeared in front of them. "Three seconds." 

"Two." 

"One." 

"Ace … she remained alive for the entire maintenance," Cleo said, looking at the boy with wide eyes. 

"How??" Ace asked, not able to understand what was going on. "How was that even possible? Her heart stopped." 

"Maybe River did something?" 

"But the potion didn't work." 

"I don't know. But you know what this means now, right, River?" It asked, grinning at him. "You know right?!?" 

"I … I get to live?" Ace asked, tilting his head to the side, still too much in shock with the rollercoaster of emotions and events to even be able to process what was happening. 

"Well, something like that." 

"What do you mean?"
