章 21: Chapter 20

Fergus parked the greengroceries truck in a corner; in the following block there was only a dilapidated house in the middle of a neglected garden.

"Well, there it is." He said:

"It looks like a house from a witch's tale." Wolfram mused.

"Don't judge by appearances, Angus is a very cultured man." The trucker warned.

They approached the house and as they did some ugly birds took flight from the roof, alarmed by the unusual visitors. Fergus waved a bell hanging from a pole and started up the wooden ladder, that looked rather dubious.

The door of the house was opened and a picturesque character appeared. Dressed in a ragged coat that had once been Navy blue, he wore a kilt, the traditional Scottish men's skirt, with the design of an unknown tartan, and on his head he wore a large tasseled beret. A long, unkempt white beard completed his outfit.

"He seems to have escaped from a Robert Louis Stevenson book." The German muttered into Gherardi's ear, who nudged him to silence.
