It appears that when goodbyes are imminent, time passes by much faster. Before they knew it Lin JinYan's graduation had come and gone. In a week the 18 year old will be flying off to the UK to attend university.
Lin JinYan went to the Lin Mansion to say his farewells to his family of which only his father Lin Hao and elder brother Lin Feng were present. His sister Lin Na was currently on vacation in France with their grandparents. Their meeting was terse and unemotional as if it wasn't a farewell among kin but of strangers. Lin Hao had simply inquired if his son had sufficient funds in his account for the trip while Lin Feng merely bade him an insincere "Bon voyage and Godspeed." As Lin JinYan finally made his way out of the main entrance of the estate where Assistant Mu was waiting in a white Bentley, Lin Feng casually commented, "Enjoy your time there little brother. Don't worry. I'll take care of Xiao Ning in your absence."
It had taken all of Lin JinYan's willpower not to turn around and confront Lin Feng. Instead, with an expression of feigned calmness, Lin JinYan tilted his head and addressed Lin Feng before boarding the waiting vehicle, "Take care of your spot in the company, dear brother. Who knows when I'll get bored of my dilettante life."
"Tch!" Lin Feng narrowed his eyes at Lin JinYan's departing back. The little prince of the Lin Family seems to have recently grown a pair of wings. Lin Feng distinctly recalled Lin JinYan living his childhood quietly in the Lin mansion. He lived as if he was dead. That was the only reason why Lin Feng had not taken any drastic actions toward his little brother. Because it appeared as if Lin JinYan knew his place. Considering his actions as of late, Lin Feng was certain that Lin JinYan had simply been wearing the mask of a gentle prince and biding his time until he became of age. The previous Lin JinYan would have never uttered insolent remarks or blatant provocations towards Lin Feng or Lin Na. 'Yes, Lin JinYan always took whatever punishments we doled out on him. Afterall, he murdered our mother,' Lin Feng thought grimly.
'Was it around the time Lin JinYan met Su Ning? Was it then he decided to take off the mask he'd always worn?' Lin Feng wondered. In any case, there's no question that the girl is extremely important to Lin JinYan, seeing as he would gladly leave the Lin estate to stand guard near her apartment. Su Ning, a remarkably beautiful creature the 'sick' Lin JinYan could actually bear to touch. Simply imagining her in a gilded cage Lin Feng personally designed filled him with immense excitement.
..................…..
Meanwhile, in the few months that passed since Qing Mei's confession to Lin JinYan, the relationship between the two have become thoroughly irreparable. Though Su Ning had made good on her promise to regularly invite Qing Mei to hangout with her and Lin JinYan, the handsome teen was always cold and indifferent to the latter.
In fact, Lin JinYan felt Qing Mei's behavior was extremely peculiar. His initial rejection could even be described as cruel for he certainly wasn't concerned with giving the girl some face. Yet after a week of absence she approached him with even more fervor as if the embarrassing event had not occurred. Qing Mei even had the effrontery to ask if she could address him as JinYan-ge like Su Ning. This request earned her a prompt and solid refusal from Lin JinYan and a look of amazement from Su Ning.
After experiencing several shameless attempts of physical intimacy from Qing Mei, Lin JinYan had already become thoroughly disgusted with the girl. It appeared as if she was emulating Su Ning's affectionate relationship with Lin JinYan. Therefore, it was only natural Lin JinYan adamantly refused to meet with Qing Mei any longer, be it in public and in the presence of Su Ning. To get his point across, it was Lin JinYan himself who confronted Qing Mei telling her he had no intention of further associating with her, in any capacity.
This was perhaps even more embarrassing than the previous rejection incident as this had occurred during lunchtime at the M Academy cafeteria. The special class cafeteria was for the exclusive use of students with purple rimmed ID badges. Regular class students wore plain white ID badges. It seemed like such a trivial distinction but it actually serves as a stark social divide among the haves and the have mores of the student population in the academy. In general, most of the students that could afford to attend M Academy are at the very least from upper middle class families. However, a large proportion of the student body especially in the special class are composed of the elites in high society. Admittedly, there are a small handful like Su Ning and Qing Rong that are able to transfer to the special class by consistently ranking at the top of their grade in the regular class.
The admissions selection process of M Academy is both rigorous and highly competitive. Aside from meeting the minimum GPA requirement, there is also an income requirement and a mandatory board of directors referral requirement. Of course, one can bypass the income requirement if they are awarded a scholarship and there is the option of enrolling through the use of underhanded means. However, there are scarcely any who are audacious enough to attempt this due to the fact that they would essentially be blacklisted in C Country in the likely chance they get caught. No reputable university would be willing to admit someone who had been found to have bribed their way into the top school in the nation.
Qing Mei was someone who fell into this rather unsavory latter category, though she has yet to face the consequences of her actions. At the moment, she was still simply thoroughly focused on her goal to get rid of Su Ning and to acquire Lin JinYan. Then, she could attend university in the UK with Lin JinYan and make her debut through XIIN Entertainment. It was with this mindset that she had gone to the special class's cafeteria to ask for Lin JinYan.
Su Ning noticed Lin JinYan's expression sour completely upon hearing that Qing Mei was waiting for him outside the lunchroom. Although she considered Qing Mei a friend, she also felt that her persistent efforts to get close to Lin JinYan were too excessive. This is especially since the young man had already turned her down a handful of times. But each time it occurs, it seems Qing Mei only becomes more and more obsessive. It had come to a point where Su Ning didn't even know how to face her friend anymore. She felt conflicted because Lin JinYan was entitled to his own emotions but she also felt pity for her friend who was trying to hold on to an unrequited first love. However Qing Mei's unusual behavior as of late had been making Su Ning feel too apprehensive, so she eventually decided it best to distance herself a bit from her friend.
On the other hand, though Lin JinYan had been interrupted from a pleasant lunch with Su Ning, he didn't forget to give her a pat on the head and a gentle reminder to eat slowly before leaving to meet the other girl. Su Ning herself did not witness the confrontation. But there were several passersby outside the lunchroom and a handful of special class students that had gone out intending to 'eat melon' who had eventually witnessed the event.
Author's Note: Eating melon is a slang used to mean onlookers of unfolding drama. (*≧∀≦*)
Word quickly spread on campus of how the school grass had publicly rejected the girl Qing Mei from the regular class. But what had made the news go viral was the girl's bizarre behavior. At first Qing Mei began to cry, then she got angry and shouted profanities and finally she began to laugh uncontrollably. Eventually, the school security had to be called to help subdue the girl and her mother, Wang Mei Na, was immediately notified by the school headmaster to pick up her daughter. Meanwhile, Lin JinYan who wore an impassive and elegant expression the entire time simply returned to the lunchroom and took Su Ning out through the back patio doors of the cafeteria. The pair did not return for afternoon classes that day.

With only a few days left in the school year, Qing Mei expectedly didn't attend classes for the rest of the academic term.
