The woman only rolled her eyes at him. Her husband was acting like a saint when he did nothing for Maimuna all along.

"Come on, my King. Stop acting as if you care. We never cared for her for the last seventeen years of her life. Did you suddenly retain the consciousness you never had? Did you suddenly develop compassion towards her?

Just so you know, nothing has changed. She is still the little curse that I gave birth to. Only heaven knows how much it will take to not kill her."

Every word from Leila's mouth dripped with poison and hatred. It was nothing like words that could come out of a mother's mouth.
