Fifth-period Physics drags on. I keep glancing at Mikhail’s empty desk in hopes that he will magically appear, but I know he’s probably in big trouble. Jez doesn’t have this class with me, which makes it ten times worse. At some point, Rowan moves closer to my seat and smiles. Curious about the fight, I quietly ask. “What was that fight about Rowan? What did Henry and Travis say to Mikhail?”
Rowan’s smile disappears, becoming very serious. “Well, Princess, it turns out your ex and his buddy were making disrespectful comments about you. Something about you servicing each of them.”
I cover my mouth, disgusted. “What?” I ask. I’m in disbelief. How could Travis do this to me? I’ve never hurt him, yet he has the nerve to make a comment like that about me after all that he’s done.
“Yep,” Rowan replies grimly. “…and Mikhail being the gentleman that he is, defended your honor?”
Wincing in shock, I bite my lip. Mikhail defended me. This is the third time he has come to my rescue, and now he’s in trouble for it. I’m such a bitch.
Running my hand through my hair, I turn back to Rowan. “Why would Mikhail defend me when I’ve been so horrible to him? I thought he hated me. I mean, in Lit class, he refuses to even do a project with me. Why?”
Rowan reaches for his pencil staring at me in concentration. “Yeah, you’ve been rude to Mikhail, but that doesn’t mean he hates you. In fact, I think his feelings run in the opposite direction. As for Lit… well…” He looks at me, shrugging his shoulders in puzzlement. “You’d have to ask him that.”
Looking down at my notebook. I come to a decision.
