章 52: Yu Bai's Best of Friends

It was early in the morning when Yu Bai called Ma Mian as soon as he came to work. She told him that she was in a taxi and is currently going to the drama set.
The two talked for a while before they stop and Yu Bai arrives in his company.
As usual, he would arrive as Yu Bai the utility personnel, and then go to the top floor and assume the identity of either Mr. Yu or one of the company's executives, Yun Hai.
Changing his clothes twice a day is somewhat taxing at first, but after all these years he has already gotten used to it and it became a routine already.
As he stood in front of the elevator dragging his tools with him, a beautiful female staff stood beside him. She nodded her head in greetings and Yu Bai also nodded his head in reply.
Only the two of them enter the elevator.
When the elevator door closes, the beautiful female staff and Yu Bai quietly stood side by side until it reaches the floor where the company chairman's office is located.
As they got off, the woman walks ahead followed by Yu Bai. When they reached the office door, the woman suddenly opened the door for Yu Bai.
"Sir, these are the reports for this week's projects and results…" she said as she handed him the folder in her hand.
Yu Bai walks to his chair while accepted the files. He placed them on the table and then shifted his gaze at the woman.
"How is your husband doing?" he asked with a serious expression on his face.
"He is doing fine… It's just that… There were some complications before, but the doctors have stabilized it for now…" she said as her expression changes.
"Hey… It's okay. Xinhai is my friend… I will not just sit by and let him suffer like that. But… I am a bit disappointed towards the both of you. You should have told me earlier about his condition." Yu Bai said with a frown.
"I know… but… but we already owe you a lot Boss Yu."
"That is not the same… Xinhai saved my life when we were younger. He is like a brother to me… when he became a soldier, I was really happy for him. The two of you were my closest friends. And now that this has happened, how could I not worry? Luckily you came to me and ask for help, or else, how could I face myself if something happened to him." Yu Bai said as he opened the drawer.
"Fan Fan, tell that knucklehead to continue fighting. I will visit him tomorrow. Okay?"
"Yes, Boss Yu…" she said as she nodded her head.
Yu Bai noticed a trace of tear slowly flowing at the side of her eye as he handed her a card.
Xinhai and Fan Fan are Yu Bai's best friends in high school. Gu Xinhai is like a big brother to him and he was the one who taught him his first fighting lesson. Meanwhile, Fan Fan is like his older sister who would always take care of him whenever his old uncle is busy at work.
The three of them are friends since young. Then when they grew up Gu Xinhai joined the military while Li Fan Fan worked in Yu Bai's company as his right-hand woman. Yu Bai was also the key to how Gu Xinhai was able to marry Li Fan Fan.
And the three were supposed to not hide any secrets from each other. But three months ago, Gu Xinhai suffered an accident. His squad was trapped inside an enemy line when they were trying to rescue an international hostage.
Though his whole squad was safe, he suffered some kind of poisoning from their enemy.
At first, Li Fan Fan wanted to hide this from Yu Bai as she did not want him to worry. However, as the condition of Gu Xinhai worsens, she became worried and told it to Yu Bai after his marriage where she was one of the few attendees.
Luckily it was not too late and Yu Bai found an expert to help his best friend.
When Li Fan Fan saw the black card, she was a bit hesitant.
"Stop resisting my kind gestures, okay. This is for my niece…"
"But… Yu Bai… you've already helped us enough."
"Sigh… Just treat me to a dinner with Xinhai after he has gotten better… Oh, I will also visit one of these days, I miss little Chin Chin…"
Li Fan Fan nodded her head as she wipes away the tears in her eyes while leaving the office.
Yu Bai heaves a deep sigh and looks at some of the pictures of the three of them on his table along with his uncle. When they were younger the three of them are inseparable. Even when they get to high school and even college, they would always hang out together.
While reminiscing about the past, his phone received a message.
When he saw the sender, a slight smile appears on his face.
He saw Ma Mian taking a picture with Yu Qi on the set. When he saw the location of the set, Yu Bai's brow suddenly knitted.
This is because he is familiar with the location. It is not actually in another city, but just on the outskirts of City A.
While looking at this photo, he suddenly wonders why Ma Mian said that she is another city with Yu Qi. Though he did not want to doubt, yet seeing this place made him feel uneasy.
Without a second thought, he called Li Fan Fan back.
"I will be leaving for a while for now. Please cancel the rest of my schedules for the day…" he said as he walks out of the office wearing his silver spectacles.
He did not want to be doubtful at this time and trust his wife, however, something is bugging him and for this reason, Yu Bai would always trust his instinct.
And so he immediately speeds out of the company driving a black Land Rover.
