Chapter Nineteen: *Title is a spoiler* (1)

"I was never imprisoned, Charlie dear."

Douglas traced Charlotte's jaw with his finger as if admiring the most beautiful painting.

"Bullshit! I saw with my own two eyes you being dragged by the police officer." Charlotte struggled against his touch as the overwhelming feeling of disgust filled her chest. "Get your hands off me!"

Douglas laughed maniacally.  "That guy is an imposter. I paid him to get plastic  surgery to look like me so he would be the one to go to jail and not me. I was free all this time. I watched you Charlie, all the time."

He held Charlotte's jaw in his hand and tightened his hold. "But it seems I've given you too much freedom." He used his other hand and ripped her top into two. "You belong to me, Charlotte Sinclair. Only me!!" Douglas shouted as he began ripping the remaining shirt off from her body.

Charlotte struggled and whimpered. "Let go of me!!" She lifted her leg to kick him or do anything to stop him but it was all futile.

Douglas tied Charlotte's feet just like her hands. He then proceeded to slap her cheek. The sound echoed in every corner of the cold dingy room.

Douglas forced himself on Charlotte as he kissed her aggressively. Charlotte bit his lips until it bled and he could no longer take it. "You b*tch isn't my love enough for you that you had to go find a pretty boy?!" He yelled aggressively as he wiped the blood from his lip and smacked Charlotte once again.

Charlotte laughed while the metallic taste of the blood was still in her mouth and the ringing bell in her ear increased. She was in so much pain but she wasn't going to let him see her weakness. "I hope you die, you bastard!"

As Douglas raised his hand to slay Charlotte again, the phone in his pocket started ringing. "What?!!" He barked.

Two Days ago

After eating breakfast, Charlotte bid Alexa goodbye and left the house. Suddenly it started raining. The sky that was clear and full of life turned dull as the thick rain clouds covered the sun. Charlotte frowned. It was a lovely day outside but unfortunately the rain had come. The cold air came through her window and sent a chill down her spine. Charlotte closed her window and tried ti stop shivering but a coldness gripped her heart.

Surprisingly Sofia decide to call. Without thinking too much Charlotte connected her phone to her car.

"Hello Sofia." Charlotte greeted as she kept her eye on the road.

"Charlotte–oh god I'm so sorry! I've seen the many missed calls and messages left by you." Sofia sounded guilty as she apologised. Her voice sounded exhausted and hoarse. "Its just that an emergency rose in my family and I had to rush back home. I had o time to call you and inform you about anything and it seemed my phone had switched off half way."

Charlotte although she was frightened yesterday she had never blamed Sofia for leaving her alone. She knew her assistant and friend must've had her reasons for not responding.

"Its okay! I don't blame you and I'm just glad you're fine. You had me worried there for a second. Is the emergency settled then?"

"Thankfully yes. Again I'm so sorry for leaving you yesterday. I'll come straight to work and help you settle the rest of your office." Sofia apologised again. She felt a constant need to because she had an inkling a certain someone was going to take action soon.

"Its okay. You should take the day off day. Anyways filming has been postponed again. Until we find a new location to film and all the material that were damaged were replaced we aren't going to start anytime soon."

"That's unfortunate." Sofia replied in a downcast tone. "Then ill take the day off. I'm exhausted." On cue several cars honked.

"Oh Charlotte are you driving?" Sofia asked.

Charlotte hummed in response. "I'm going to work." There was silence on the other side. After not hearing anything for a while Charlotte called out, "Sofia! You there?"

After a couple of seconds Sofia replied. "Yes sorry I was a little distracted you were saying?"

Charlotte and Sofia talked a little longer before the latter ended the call. Charlotte had already parked her car in the underground parking area. She was on her way to the lift when a force hit her on the back of her head. Charlotte gripped her head and grunted to the floor. She fought hard to fight back the darkness that invaded but it turned difficult as the pain from the back of her head took control.
