章 53: BAMF BASILISK!
I saw the contraption magic away, revealing a tunnel. I saw the ladies were surprised, and looked at me in shock. I then said, "Stairs!"
And a set of Stairs appeared in the tunnel.
I looked at the ladies, and said with flourish. "My fair ladies! And Maiden! Allow me to present the historical, mythical and legendary, the one and Only Salazar Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets."
I saw the ladies gasp, as my mom cursed loudly, and other ladies remembered she was in Slytherin, so she probably knew more about this than others.
My mother informed what she knew, how Myrtle here, was the first and only know. casualty of the monster, and how Hagrid was blamed for the incident.
She then, also informed the ladies about Tom Riddle's connection to the tales.
A lot of the ladies knew the story very well, and they could make the connections between things left unsaid.
I coughed into my hand to gather their attention. "Ahem! We have a monster to hunt, and a man to declare innocent. So shall we?"
Saying that, I turned into a Thunderbird, and reached the vault like entrance. I saw the ladies come down slowly from the stairs. I waited till they reached me, and I told them to stay put!
Of course, they refused and wanted to lead, but I turned into a Basilisk, which shocked all the ladies, except my Mom and Minerva, who had seen my forms before.
Then I turned back into a human and looked at them, "I don't fear a Basilisk's gaze, as it cannot curse its own kind. I will go talk to him, and see if he is amenable. Otherwise, Fawkes here, can poke the eyes out of the Basilisk, and then you can fight and kill it without any danger."
Saying my piece, I slithered down the stairs and reached the giant Salazar Slytherin's statue and spoke the magic words.
When the mouth opened, and an actual sixty foot molting Basilisk walked out of the gap, I couldn't help but awe, at the gigantic size of this snake.
"Who are you Speaker? You don't sound like my master."
I looked at the 'Queen' of snakes, and spoke, "I am not your master. I am the one who killed him. And yoh are now free from his bindings."
She looked at me, and flicked her tongue. "You do not speak like my master spoke. You speak like me. And yoh smell like me. Are we kin?"
I saw that she wasn't coiled and ready to attack, so I changed my form and turned into a twelve foot long Basilisk. "What do you think? I am here to inquire your allegiance. If you desire to eat, I shall have a meal prepared for you. In any case, you wouldn't have to be locked in here ever again."
Saying that, I approached her.
"I didn't serve my master willingly. I was meant to protect the castle. But he was of my Master's blood. So he could bind me. But I am hungry. So hungry. Please feed me. In return, I will serve you. After all, we are kin."
The Basilisk did the most interesting thing, as instead of violence, she chose the pacifist way.
I had a lot of raw meat prepared, when I would have to meet and greet the Basilisk, either to trap it, or thank it. So I brought it all out, and led the freshly cut meat on the ground.
"I came here with a few witches. Could you turn your gaze away from them?"
I saw the Basilisk snort. "You have a lot to learn, snakeling. Our gaze can kill, only when we wish to curse someone. Otherwise, they wouldn't die if they looked directly in our eyes. But you must learn to control your gaze. Young Basilisks have difficulty controlling their gaze."
Saying that, she began to eat in her fervour. "Would this be enough? Or should I bring more?"
I asked to make sure. "No, this will be more than enough. You can help me with molting, and you promised to take me away from this place."
I heard her request and answered. "Yes, I will help you with your molting. And eat for now, we can then go get some fresh air. Or would you like to eat outside in the fresh air now?"
She looked undecided for a moment, then took a large chunk of meat, and said, "Outside! I am tired of being here."
I agreed, and stored the remaining meat again. I changed my form, and came to the vault like entrance, from where the ladies were seeing the entire incident of my meeting with a Basilisk, with alert eyes.
When I climbed the Basilisk's head, and got a ride out of the cave, the women looked amazed, terrified and baffled at me. Then as one, they all turned to my mother, and looked with pity.
I ignored them, and rode out my Basilisk. "Hey ladies! What do you think of my giant snake. I will feed her some meat in the fresh air. Do you want a ride?"
That caused a look of utter bafflement, until Lily laughed loudly, and caused others to chuckle and laugh as well.
We rode the snake out, and when we came outside, I saw Hagrid, Dumbledore and a lot of other men standing at the entrance. And the first glimpse they were seeing were me ride a Basilisk along with Other ladies and a Phoenix perched on my shoulder.
I grinned at Hagrid and said. "Hagrid! Say hello to my new friend!"
