After her lessons on basic etiquette and knowledge, she spent some time with her dotting parents before heading into the library and going through books related to magic. It didn't provide her with much information. While she could read out the chants and cast magic with it, she didn't understand the meaning behind those words making it hard for her to comprehend the actual meaning and how it worked. For all she knew, she could just use her mana and it'd do the same thing, nothing was set in stone. That's why she wanted to visit the National Library in order to come up with more ways to utilize magic, discuss theories and more. It took 6 seconds to just finish the chant for a Tier I fireball. You could be shot with an arrow within those 6 seconds and there would be a high chance of the chant being interrupted, if she found a way to bypass that surviving would be much easier.
When she informed my father about her desire to visit the National Library, he prepared a carriage and a dozen of bodyguards.
'The lifestyle difference... ugh..' thinking that, she went to her room to get changed. She chose a pastel yellow one piece dress that reached up to her calves and a pair of basic sandals that matched her dress. While her outfit didn't match her silver hair and blue eyes, it was good enough.
While the maids were dressing her up, she was thinking what sort of books and people she could find there. The maids also tied her hair into twin tails with basic black ribbons. After they were done, she dashed off to the carriage that was soon about to exit the mansion.
After around 20 minutes, she could see the top of a sphere that was white in color, since she had seen it in a book before, she could instantly tell it. The building is actually spherical in shape and the platform it stands on is actually the entrance. There are 2 teleportation spells that connect each other. She could memorise both the teleportation skill in about 3 visits but since she wouldn't be able to understand it, tweaking it would've been risky.
After having the butler, Andre go through the registration and paying the fees, she was allowed entry but only with a maximum of 2 attendants. She chose the reliable butler who had been helping her since she was small and a guard amongst the knights that had pledged loyalty to the Marquess.
She asked Andre to look for some books that go deep into the basics while Cain would accompany her. Looking at the number of floors, she chose a random number and spent a few seconds looking around before she saw a young man put a book back in the shelf. He had blonde hair and gray eyes. He wrote a half-sleeved white shirt and brown shorts. She was curious about what other people read since her mother didn't read much and her father was often busy with his work. Walking towards the book he put there, she saw another book that caught her eye and pulled it out and read the title in her mind.
「Magic & Its Application Vol. III」
Flipping through the pages, she could see many complex machines and some lengthy explanation along with it. It went into detail about various stuff. But currently for her, it would be like using a formula without knowing how it works.
She asked Cain to assist her in finding a book the other volumes of the book and amidst their search, Andre came back with the books she asked for. She then requested for his assistance too. After an hour, they found all 4 volumes of the book. Before the search began, she also took out the book the young boy had kept on the shelf.
'This was one huge library. I should create magic that helps to find books more easily.' thinking that to herself, she asked the two to help her find books about runic symbols and other languages.
They spent a total of 3 hours in the library looking for suitable books. They borrowed a total of 11 books. Normally people could only borrow 5 books at once but if they are a high ranking noble with good reputation, the limit is increased. Of course, should any damage happen to the book, actions will be taken.
'The book should be returned in 14 days huh...' thinking that, she went back to the carriage whilst looking at how dark the sky had gotten.
When she got back to the mansion, she was reprimanded by both of her parents. But of course, that was not the only time she arrives home late.
After having dinner at the dining table, she went to her study room and flipped open one of the books she had borrowed, 「Cyrus' Magic Theories」.
The book was akin to a diary of Cyrus. Not only did it include the theory but also what he did to prove the theories and how he got those ideas.
'I guess there are more people who think like me.' thinking that she started to read more pages. From what the book made out to be, Cyrus was dense.
「Chapter 1: Mana Conduction」
[It was a casual mundane day on AC 284 when I was taking a bath before I realized that the sponge absorbed some water and could be squeezed out of. I was playing around with it before I decided to try that with mana. Unfortunately, the sponge didn't absorb the mana. After that, I traveled several miles; through cities, towns, mines, villages and various associations. I found a few materials that could absorb mana and some that could store mana. This is how I came up with the idea for devices that measure Mana. It is extremely taxing on the body but will give you an accurate result. To my successor, I hope you will be able to fix the flaws of my creations.]
She began to wonder if the young boy she saw was his successor. She then stopped thinking about it and continued reading.
[I didn't have a better way to measure Mana Capacity so I converted the same amount of mana into liquefied mana and used it for comparison. Normal ores like iron and cooper the capacity to store from mana equal to 5ml to 15ml of liquefied mana. Some alloys cannot store at all meanwhile some alloys store vastly more compared to these ores. Ores that are found in mana rich area have vast amount of mana in then and are capable of holding upto mana equal to 1500ml. The material that could hold the most mana I've found so far is an unnamed metallic alloy. It is an alloy made of Tangenite and Cryomenium. It only has the ability to store mana. The material that could absorb mana the best was a piece of wood refined from Blemphorg trees that grow in the depths of the Great Forest of Serania. The trees have glowing leaves that are in shades of red, purple and pink.]
Flipping the page, she was distracted by the diagram on the page on the right bit she quickly went back to read from where she was.
[There are 2 different types of device that can be used to measure Mana. You can fake your Mana Capcity when using a capacity-type but cannot do the same when its the absorption-type. This is because unlike the Capacity-type where you inject Mana, Absorption-type drains your entire Mana Pool. Since Mana can be replenished, it doesn't possess any real threat.]
Thinking about how she had not yet measured her Mana, she began to wonder how much she had. 'If only I had a system... If I were to be born a Goddess, I promise all the ones entering my world a basic system.' She walked over to her bed and laid on the bed facing the ceiling, she began to wonder how she could create a system. 'Illusion magic? But then it wouldn't work. Should I like create a thin sheet of ice and engrave a bunch of spells in them? Ugh.. I wish I could grow up quickly.'
Without realizing, she had fallen asleep. Getting up, she got ready for the day except she never stepped out of her room. She was busy reading the books she had borrowed from the library. Walking over to her desk and hopping onto the chair, she began to read from where she left off.
「Chapter 2: Decreasing Cast Time」
Reading the title, she couldn't help but get excited as her eyes sparkled with curiousity since she had basic ideas but not implemented them yet.
[It was a regular Sunday afternoon in the year 253 AC. I was roaming around the capital when I witnessed a duel between a mage and a warrior. The match was very interesting. During the start of the fight, the warrior made careful movements and kept his distance. Giving the mage the perfect time to cast spells. The mage then began to chain weave spells and started firing spells without a break at the warrior, he dodged some, failed to dodge some and parried some with his greatsword. Realizing that he was a bad position, he decided to rush to the mage so that he could get her caught up in her explosion, he crouched a bit and leaped towards the mage while using the greatsword to give him a boost. She had multiple elements but not Earth.. do people not know how to use Earth element or something? The mage quickly cast a barrier of ice but it wasn't enough to block the impact of a greatsword with skills to amplify the power. The wall of ice cracked and broke upon the touch of the greatsword and in a panic, she brought her arms forward and tried to block the sword but in the end, he helped to manage population overgrowth. Her defense was smaller than the ice wall she created. Maybe she would've survived with injuries if she had created it using the Earth Element or not get injured at all if she held him in place with the Earth Element. I'll never forget the day I saw a girl get sliced like tofu. Every since that day, I tried to decrease the cast time and the result of my experiment was not confirmed. I could cast spells that I have been using for like forever with ease with only a specific word from the chant. I couldn't do the same for spells I haven't used before so there might be something that I missed.]
'This doesn't go into much detail but this itself was very useful.' Getting up from her chair, she opened the windows before casting a regular fireball. Then she tried a word at a time to try and get the same result. She then tried to cast one without any chanting and it worked but it had an irregular shape, was more unstable and more powerful than the ones she had cast before. 'I wonder why it worked, could it be because I anticipated the result and had a vivid image of it in my mind?' This time, she imagined a spherical ball of fire rather than fire itself and what she got as a sphere of fire but it was more powerful than the previous one she had created. I guess I will need proper test subjects to help me with this.
Feeling a rumble from her stomach, she went into the dining room to get an ear-full from her father. Thankfully, he hadn't heard about the experiments she was doing in her room a few minutes ago. Her parents were waiting for their daughter to arrive for breakfast but she reached there 12 minutes late. After finishing breakfast, she went back to her room to read more books. Her parents went back to their usual schedule. Unknown to anyone that the family of the Marquess would have a new heir.
Sorry for the late update. I was planning to release this chapter faster but was in a mental stare of turmoil. Also, My laptop is done for :( I hope they can fix it. F for my laptop please.
