She was preparing for dinner that evening with her father when she noticed in the mirror that she had a hickey on her left shoulder, near her collar bone. "That bastard left a mark on me," Johanna mumbled angrily at herself.

She hated herself for letting Matthew used her body just like he owned it. She did not like that he could easily manipulate her to do his bidding. 

She was not sure why her body betrayed her every time that he touched her. But she could not stop him because she did long for a man's affection. 

Maybe it had something to do with her lack of attention coming from her husband. She found herself craving for someone to adore her. 

Brad always respected her, but he never treated her as his wife. He never looked at her as if she was a desirable woman. If he did not get drunk that night, he would never have made love to her.
