章 300: Water

Serenica had some trouble wheeling the cart through the thick, subtropical forest. When the wheels themselves did not get stuck, an arm or a leg would fall from the bumpy ride. Every time that happened, she had to count all the pieces over and over again.

She was nervous about losing something that could later be turned against her, but all the pieces were there. The jungle hid many beasts that would have loved to take a bite, but that was why Serenica had her torch.

The beasts hated fire, and death, too, hated the orange flame she was holding.

Kinley would get a proper burial, one with water, one with fire. Serenica could not see a more fitting way to dispose of her old enemy. Ed had made just the right kind of explosives for this occasion. Serenica also had a fuse.
