Finally I was behind her and stayed standing without giving her an indication while I intently looked at the movements of her body and just wait for the passing time to give her a hint that I was nearby.
The gray clouds of an overcast sky moments ago had turned into a complete blackness; heavy rainfall was to be expected soon. I could feel the cool breeze, moistened by the precipitation but roughened by the pollution of the city air, wheezed past my skin leaving a coarse, damp feeling. The woman turned her head from side to side but had no inclination to look behind her. It was only when she pulled a makeup compact case and opened its mirror to take a look at her face when she saw me looking at her from behind. She quickly turned around and faced me.
“How long have you been—” The woman was completely astounded as shown by her near panic reaction. I smiled at her, reassuring her that her secret had not been exposed.
