章 25: Chapter 23
If looks could kill, he is probably dead by now. Alex can't help but think to himself. Vera has been shooting daggers at him since Keith asked for coffee to be sent to his office.
"Chloe, the president, is asking for coffee. Teach Alex how to make it." Dana instructed after answering the boss' call.
"Come with me." Chloe asked Alex to follow her to the small pantry. "This is the Arabica medium roast coffee beans. We used this one for the president's coffee. In the morning when he arrives, I usually make him black coffee but towards the end of the day if he asked for coffee like now, I would add just a teaspoon of sugar." Chloe said, showing him where Keith's coffee grounds are kept and how to use the coffee maker. "I guess it's better if you make today's coffee. I bet the boss will like that." Chloe said teasingly.
Alex blushed in reaction to Chloe's teasing but starts to prepare the coffee nonetheless. I guess this is part of getting to know Keith, Alex said to himself. He brewed the coffee just like how Chloe taught him and added a teaspoon sugar afterwards. Once done, he put it in a tray and heads back to the office with Chloe.
"Stop. Give it here." Vera said as soon as they got back.
"She usually brings the coffee inside to the president." Chloe whispered to him. Alex reluctantly transferred the tray of coffee to Vera.
"Alex, you bring it inside." Dana said just as Vera was about to take full control of the tray.
"What? I always bring Keith his coffee." Vera hissed, clearly not happy with what Dana just said.
"She likes calling the boss by her first name, you know to feel superior." Chloe giggled, earning a sharp glare from Vera.
"The boss asked for Alex." Dana replied, the authority in her boss is evident that Vera has no choice but to give back the tray.
Alex proceeds to head to Keith's office despite the obvious glare Vera is giving him behind his back. "Sir, I have the coffee you requested." He said after knocking on the door. He opened the door after hearing Keith's reply for him to come inside.
"Here's your coffee Mr. Andersen." Alex said as he put down the coffee in front of Keith.
Keith look up and stare at his Omega who seemed to be fidgeting in front of him. He seemed calmer than they first talked earlier, though he still seem anxious. At least he does not seem to have the urge to runaway from him. "You can call me Keith you know. Mr. Andersen seems too formal, considering our relationship. Keith said casually as he sipped the coffee that Alex brought.
Alex bit his lips unsure how to proceed. Calling the president of the company he is interning with his first name seems disrespectful, but then again, the Alpha was right. They are bonded. Their relationship superseded their boss-employee relationship. However, if he starts calling the Alpha by his first name, other people might take it against him and treat him with animosity just like how Vera does. After all he is just a mere intern and Keith is the president of the company. No matter how you look at it, he will end up getting the brunt of it.
Keith noticed the struggle in the Omega's eyes as it seems the latter cannot come up with a decision whether to agree with his request or to decline it. "Alex? Is it hard to call me by my first name? Didn't we agree to start to get to know each other?" Keith sighed when he saw Alex feeling guilty with what he said. "How about this? When we're alone you can call me Keith, if we're not then address me like everyone else."
The Omega's face lights up, as if a heavy burden was lifted off his shoulders. Keith tried his best not to laugh in case Alex gets offended. His Omega is just too cute for his own good.
"Ke... Keith." Alex said shyly.
Keith finds Alex's shyness so adorable that it is taking a lot of effort on his part not to grab the latter and take him right on his desk. Having the Omega under him, moaning and screaming in ecstasy is enough for him to lose his mind. "Ahem! How are you coping so far? Is everything comfortable for you? If there is anything, let Dana know or you can come to me directly." He said while clearing his throat, hoping it would take his mind off of his carnal thoughts.
"It's only been two hours... I haven't done anything except make you a cup of coffee." Alex is not sure if the Alpha is toying with him. It's only just a couple of hours. What is he expecting?
"You made the coffee? Hmm no wonder it tastes good." Keith said as he sipped his coffee.
"Are you making fun of me? I just followed Chloe's instructions, I did not do anything special." Alex said, pouting at the obvious lie from the Alpha. Well maybe Keith was just trying to make a conversation with him. He's trying to work things out between them, he should probably do the same. Thinking about the Alpha making an effort is making Alex's heart warm up to the Alpha.
"I bet you were thinking of me while you were making it, that's why it tastes different." Keith retorted, sounding grumpy while trying to make himself sound more believable.
"Pfft!" Alex couldn't help but laugh. Keith is like a student caught cheating and still denies it despite the evidence in front of him. Well I guess comparing him to a cheating student is a bit much. Nonetheless he finds it cute. Though cute is not a suitable adjective to describe the Alpha. He wonders what Keith would think if he told him that he thinks he's cute.
Keith felt a warm feeling inside of him. He feels like he is in the middle of the desert and after searching for a long period of time, he finally found an oasis to quench his thirst. That's what Alex's laughter is doing to him. He never knew he needed it so much until he heard and saw it.
In the last two hours since they reunited, he felt calm after enduring a chaotic month of searching for the Omega. Having Alex here with him is like finding the last missing piece of a puzzle. He hates Omega's scent in general but right now his office is getting enveloped by Alex's Omega pheromones and he is loving it.
"If there is nothing else then I'll head out now." Alex said after calming himself. He suddenly realized he has been inside Keith's office for a while now, he's sure that Vera is seething with rage from jealousy.
"Wait!"
Alex halted and he turned around upon hearing Keith's voice just as he was about to reach for the door. He looked at Keith as if waiting for an order or something.
"Can I take you out to dinner tonight? No, I mean I want to have dinner with you. Would that be okay?" Keith asked.
Alex nodded. He honestly wanted to check in on Dan as his friend hadn't replied to any of his messages, but he could not find it in his heart to reject Keith's offer of dinner. "I can't stay long though." He replied, making a mental note to call Dan again after dinner.
Also, he needs to call his parents at nine o'clock for his daily report. His brother might also have dropped in, as far as he knows Mattie is coming back today from his conference/training. Mattie coming back means his family finding out about Keith and their bonding. He needs time to prepare himself in facing his brother, though he's already dreading the moment to come.
