Vol 3. - Chapter 9 - The Awakening of a Dying Phoenix
.
.
.
One day passed since the civil war started and ended, and with the new day arriving, the citizens of Sagletius began being mobilized, moving toward Dawn city, which suffered the most damage from this entire war.
Even the nobles and citizens inside Serene District got away from their houses, walking with curiosity toward the Royal District, which still looked pathetic. Nevertheless, compared to when the war ended and the dead bodies lined up on the ground, the citizens of Serene could only see bloodstains on the ground and the rubbles of the collapsing buildings.
"Have those bastards trying to extort us finally die?" called a noble lady, precisely the same girl Vlad interrogated using his blood and dark powers.
She was surrounded by more nobles, from men to women, all of them walked toward the Wisdom Palace.
"It seems like it, Katerine. Hah, you did well telling us to stay in our homes. Have you seen the swift manner those black and green-clad soldiers defeated all the guards inside the district?" asked an aristocrat woman with excited eyes when remembering the figure of Borz defeating a group of noble guards by himself right in front of her house.
"Our group is just one of the many. I told most of the trustworthy groups as for the rest who found themselves on the streets. I didn't hear of them getting killed, which means we are safe." explained the noble lady Katerine which was quite beautiful in her own right, with her blonde hair cascading over her dress.
It was unknown what this group of 12 nobles was, but from how focused they were on the palace, which was in a shabby state, once they got in a closer perimeter, they were stopped by Quintus and his team.
They were a bit bruised, but this didn't stop them from looking intimidating toward the noble gentlemen and ladies who were not sure how to approach the Black Army soldiers.
"Noble ladies, the entrance to the palace is restricted until further reporting."
Katerine stepped forward and asked Quintus with uncertainty in her voice.
"Sir. Soldier, we want to receive an audience with the king or the person called Blood."
"An audience with Commander? Hmm, I don't know if he returned back to the palace. Let me check on my superior, okay? Guys, watch them while I go to the palace."
Yet as he said that, from the palace, Bolt followed by Flex, Levon, Yetty, Yanosh, Argash, Valen, Borz, Kane, Morloc and Maisha, exited the palace looking serious, with a step slower than Bolt.
Bolt noticed Quintus moving toward him as if another problem had arrived, and looking around, he could see the group of noble-looking people, visible coming from Serene District.
Waving his hand, he walked toward him and the nobles, asking with a casual voice.
"Is the house burning Quintus? Why do so many people all of a sudden want to meet Vlad?"
"Ahem, General, isn't Commander, the ruler of the country?"
"No, you moron, it is King Opheltius. Prince Vlad is just acting as Co-Ruler, helping the old king with internal management. The girls want to meet him, correct?"
"Indeed. I can't just have them leave without concrete answers."
"So what? It is not like they would be offended by being sent away. Fuck, you know what, Quintus, I might save your ass with this idea I got. It makes me feel in the same league as that smartass Faust."
"Stop jesting boss, I heard about that meek guy Faust. He is really smart. A once in a lifetime genius." commented Bors casually, jabbing at Bolt that his idea might not be so impressive.
"Hey, brother Bors, look at that noblewoman, babe. Her eyes are all over you. Look, she is trying to court you with that timid smile." mentioned Morloc jabbing at Bors, who turned his attention on the noble ladies, especially the one infatuated with him.
"Not bad. I might see what she is all about. She seems older than me by some years, but money is money, I guess.
.
Bolt ignored his subordinates, and the newly added to his direct command by Vlad, Yanosh and Argash, directly asking Katerine for her wishes.
"Lady, I heard well from you? You want an appointment with His Majesty Opheltius or His Highness Vlad?"
This created a rush of whisperings, but then from the sky, the gulls flying holding newspapers in their paper holder dropped them over the Kingdom of Kaysang, something both Katerine and Bolt picked up.
His side gathered around him to read the newspaper, but they couldn't contain their laughter.
"Bahaha, what's this? His Highness became a modelling star, and we never heard about it? Since when did he give an interview to those news organizations? My, what bold statements from him, so like him." commented Flex and his brothers along with Bors while Valen and the rest kept their opinions to themselves.
Katerine, who saw the 'World Economy Journal' front page with the image of Vlad taken by Leif, looking with his crimson eyes in the distance toward Dawn District by the destroyed throne room window.

[Exclusive Interview with Prince Vermilion Zagreus Vlad, the young monarch who restored order in the Kaysang Kingdom.]
.
.
The nobles were shocked by what they were reading, from how Vlad introduced himself and the humbleness in his speech was visible even when reading the responses to Leif's questions to his ideals and views on certain sensible subjects.
"Katerine!! Are you reading what's on the page? The Prince that said to have come from the Principality of Wallachia is exactly similar to the one in the cover!" exclaimed the noble lady who seemed to have something for Bors.
"I can see it too, Jasmine. Don't get hysterical and act ladylike." replied Katerine trying to contain her surprise, continuing to read the newspaper.
Only after some minutes, where all nobles gathered around Katerine reading the news, turned quiet looking at Bolt and the rest of soldiers with a changed gaze, turning respectful.
"Sir Soldier, we understand our circumstances, and His Highness also gave us a response to us lower nobles. When the situation is cleared, we will ask for an audience." said Katerine to Bolt, who watched her carefully.
He walked forward and extended his hand for a shake. He introduced himself since it wasn't respectful for him to treat this noble lady as if she was some simple peasant.
"My lady, I am General of the Black Army, serving directly under His Highness Vlad, Bolt."
Katerine listened to Bolt's introduction and seemed surprised that such a young man, similar in age to her in the mid-twenties, could reach so high in status.
"Pleased to meet you, General Bolt. I am Baroness Katerine Vernize. I will no longer disturb you and your men from your activity."
"Don't worry, my lady. We were about to walk to Sol and report to the 'Administrative Palace' and see what needs to be assisted in reconstruction or quelling rebellions that might have started in the regions the Royal House can't reach. Lady Katerine, if you wish to accompany us, you might be lucky to meet His Highness ahead of time."
Katerine turned at the group of nobles, who agreed to the suggestion, telling her.
"I never visited Sol since the ban imposed by Duke Lacilet on their place. I heard from the merchants that it is a beautiful place, compared to how unmaintained it used to be 4 years ago."
"Then, I see no problem? Sir Bolt, sorry for the inconvenience." replied Katerine after facing Bolt.
Waving his hand, Bolt turned to walk toward Sol, while Katerine was by his side, asking different questions out of curiosity about them, the Black Army and trying to find more about Vlad.
"Lady Katerine, from the manner you ask about the Prince, you are worrying too much. He is a person of words and principles, and once he gives his word to someone, that is a law. From what he told me, he will not target you nobles, especially the lower-nobles. You probably will only benefit from his future reforms."
Meanwhile, Jasmine made some courage in her little heart and approached Bors, who was sort of words yet still talking with her. The noble lady was in her mid-twenties, similar to Katerine, and was really starting to get to his liking.
'Interesting girl, she is interested in archery and swordplay and even saw me fight a group of noble guards waiting for me to teach her. Hmm, Baroness Lomassier, you aren't half-bad. I will keep in touch with you. Maybe I can have a place to retreat in bed after a tiring day.'
Then he also started to talk with her more casually, asking her different questions, as if she was seeing someone, how her family was doing if she didn't suffer from some injustice. All of those questions and feeling Bors opening to her made her cheeks turn rosy, feeling that her dream could be achieved.
.
.
.
On other places, the newspaper from the World Economy Journal didn't bring much rucks, maybe making the young ladies be love struck by Vlad's dignified and handsome appearance, filled with a soothing calm as he was watching in the distance with his mesmerizing crimson eyes that made it seem they were rubies.
It was such a case inside a large island filled with a mangrove forest known as Sabaody Archipelago where inside a large shopping mall, a woman wearing an elegant crimson dress with a goddess appearance enhanced by her crimson hair, which would make any person desire her was holding a newspaper walking casually in this mall, followed by a young man wearing something akin to a spacesuit with an oxygen tank.
"Big sister Mary, what are you doing?? We are on the lower land. Why are you not wearing the suit and the breathing device?" asked the young man who looked to be 10 years old, having red hair which looked more diluted compared to the young woman who was in her late teens.
The agents of the World Government were there to assist them, remaining quiet like statues, not even daring to glance at the woman.
When the young woman, called Mary, heard the young boy imply that, she ignored him, continuing to read the newspaper with a curious expression.
"Big sister, don't ignore me. I will tell you to mom and dad!"
"Quiet, you sissy, don't make a scene like those idiots of the Habsbur, this is what I taught you to do in public when we descend?" said the young woman with a sharp voice looking at the boy with her dark green eyes, that he stopped being restless.
"Fine, big sister, but what's so interesting in that newspaper?"
"Ohh, the cover of the page talks about an interesting commoner monarch who is the same age as me. He is to my tastes and also has a pair of beautiful ruby eyes, which would match with my hair if we strolled together. Hah, I think I found my future husband, little brother."
"WHATT?? Big sister, we can't marry the common people!" said the young man with some indignation, which was amplified by the manner the World Government Agents were staring at her that even their shades couldn't contain their surprise.
"Lady Mary, you aren't kidding, correct?" asked a man wearing white clothes, a mark that he was more special compared to the black clothes agents.
"Hah, you too think I am joking? When I become the leader of Bourbon House, I will be able to do as I please. Not even the 5 old men might be able to stop my wishes. I don't wish to marry any of those incompetent, disgusting fools from Valois, Habsbur, Alawi, Trastamara, Vasa and so on. Also, don't worry, I will train him to be my husband, so he doesn't shame us World Nobles."
"Sigh, my lady. Is none of my business what you are doing with your life. But you know I will have to report to the Elders, right?"
"Yes, so what? Let the old men know ahead, so they are prepared to welcome my husband and settle all the legal paperwork for me. Right, while you are doing that, I remember that the meeting of common kings will be held in a couple of months. Tell the elders to have the Vermillion House of Kaysang Kingdom as one of the participants."
The white-clothed man had an awkward expression, but he could only nod when gazing at this young lady that made even himself afraid. She was not an ordinary Celestial Noble. It was visible from how she was dressed that she didn't place the traditions of the Celestial Nobles in her eyes.
Walking ahead of the group followed by her younger brother, she turned to look at the people scared of them, not even looking at them, standing like statues in place, at which she pointed at them, telling her younger brother.
"You see that little Philip, does that look like normal human interaction? It kind of pisses me that whenever I descend, I have to be treated as if I am some goddess that can't be defiled or approached."
"But we are Gods. It is normal for those peasants to treat us with respect and veneration." commented the little boy, who soon had his oxygen tank removed by the young woman and later finding himself slapped over the head.
"Stupid kid, stop listening to the shit those teachers are feeding you. You will just turn like those disgusting fools from the other houses. Do you think you are a God? Then why do you feel pain when I slap your face? Why do you bleed when you get wounded?"
"This… I don't know? Why do I feel pain?" asked the boy softly, looking confused at his elder sister.
"Because you are a human. Next time you enter my private chambers, go to the library and read some books. The real deal, not the trash those so-called tutors offer you."
"This means I am no different from those commoners?"
"Yes and no. Our ancestors held an important role in the formation of this world as we know it now, and so we, their descendants, also inherited their power, status, prestige and wealth, making us above them when it comes to those terms. However, if someone would want to hurt you similar to what you have seen those other families do with their slaves, or how that Fishman who invaded Mary Geoise five years ago releasing those unfortunate people."
"Ahhhh, the time when the fires took over Mary Geoise! I heard from the others that Fishman was the devil incarnated, placed on earth to hurt us."
"Sigh, stop believing the nonsense those fools tell you, Philip. I don't wish to look down on you when you grow older and have to punish you."
.
.
"Let's go look for some kids clothes for you, so you change that disgusting suit. If you don't wish, I can always send you back to Mary Geoise."
"Nooo, please don't, big sister. It is so boring there, having to always listen to those old men and see those disgusting people treating the commoners like some animals."
"See, I haven't taught you wrong, it seems. Let's go, for sure you will like the clothes here. Just look at my dress. I bought it last time I came here one month ago. You like it?"
"Yea, it looks nice on you, sister."
The sister and brother duo walked toward one clothing shop inside the mall, and once inside, the woman managing the shop looked shocked, quickly averting her eyes from Mary and Philip, soon beginning to tremble. Philip's expression turned awkward when seeing this woman fear them for no reason, but seconds later, he noticed his sister walk toward the saleswoman, telling her in a calm and soft voice.
"Raise your head and act normal. We are not here to harm you or act like the others whose notoriety is already widespread."
"Goddess, I am not allowed. I will be punished."
"Sigh, you really don't have to. It is just us, brother and sister, also I left the guards away from your shop, so they will not know if you behaved normally with us." explained Mary with a warm tone, patting the shoulders of the saleswoman.
Only after Mary patiently explained to the woman that they weren't here to cause trouble or act like the other degenerates, she asked what they desired to buy from her shop.
"Show me the clothes for young boys, around the 10-12 years old mark, please."
"Yes, my lady. I hope the clothes I have in store is to your liking." said the woman with her voice still trembling a bit.
Soon, Mary and Philip looked at the clothes, and once she placed her eyes on a small suit of a crimson color, she instantly beamed with a smile, turning to her little brother.
"That one will be. A suit like those Admirals to my little brother taste."
"Ehhh, no way. Wait, it kind of looks cool." said the young boy who walked closer to the suit touching it.
The saleswoman guided the two toward the changing room, and leaving Philip with the suit in the cabin, Mary heard the saleswoman ask her with a trembling voice.
"My lady, why aren't you like the rest of them?"
"Hmm, that's because I hate most of them for their hypocrisy. Don't you think I am far more beautiful wearing those simple clothing compared to that stinky and tight garbage worn by those fools? Speak your mind freely. I am just a woman like you. Apart from my power and titles, we breathe the same air, have the same blood and love the same."
"My lady, to be honest, I love your dress. It is really stylish revealing your curves and gorgeous legs, also placing your silky hair in the spotlight."
"Haha, see, it isn't different from speaking with me compared to other people like you, correct?"
"I think so, but I doubt I can be like this when the other Celestials descend and walk into my shop."
"Hah, that I guess is correct. It remains to be seen what the future has for us ahead. Little Philip, how is it? Do you want your big sister to help you?"
"No need! I am already 11 years old. Just a bit more, it was quite hard to get the suit off me."
Nevertheless, after some more minutes of waiting, the young boy exited from the cabin, wearing the small crimson suit assorted by a pair of red shoes which made Mary clap her hands happily.
"You look nice, little brother. You will for sure smithen some princesses from the normal kingdoms. Or who knows, maybe you will be smitten by some simple girl like those fantasy stories people here like to read. Regardless of such a case, big sister will be there to help you when such an event comes."
Philip looked embarrassed at her big sister, moving to take the celestial suit in his hands, while Mary talked with the saleswoman about the price of the suit.
"It is for free, my lady."
"This doesn't work for me. I will never take anything for free for anyone, especially down here. Here, take 200.000 𝔅 and invest them in your business. When my brother or I descend from Mary Geoise, welcome us like simple people and show us your new product."
Mary placed the bundle of banknotes in her hand with a smile, making the saleswoman calm down from trying to reject the gesture.
"Just take them. This is something we World Nobles should do, give back to the people from our accumulated wealth. Yet, maybe only I think of this idea. Could it be, I am an idealistic woman?"
"Big sister, I don't know what that means, but you are more special than the other people in Mary Geoise." replied Philip, who returned holding the spacesuit in his hands, not feeling burdened by the heavy suit.
"Sigh, I hope my future husband will like me as I am. Anyway, let's go, little Philip, there is the amusement park left to be visited. I promised I would take you there. As the future leader of Bourbon House, I have to keep to my words."
"FINALLY! Thank you, big sister. Also, thank you, lady, for the suit." said Philip bidding his goodbye like a simple boy, walking after his older sister, who got to the agents telling her with a casual tone.
"We will go to the Amusement Park. Also, place Philip's suit in the bag."
The special agents noticed young Philip walking after his sister wearing a crimson suit looking more stylish than their own basic black ones or the white one.
"Young Lord, you are looking great in this suit."
"Hehe, thank you for the words guys." laughed the young boy happily at the compliments brought to him.
Like this, the particular group formed by the Celestial brother and sister exited the mall alone, having the World Government Agents distanced from them, so they could experience how it was to be normal people too.
Mary and Philip walked toward the Sabaody Park Amusement Park without causing any commotion. In fact, this made Philip also feel nice seeing how casual and the bright smiles of the people who walked the same way as them.
"Big sister, this feeling is quite nice."
"Haven't I told you? Those agents are just an inconvenience to us. Even if some pirate would come to apprehend us, I wouldn't even be worried about my safety or yours."
Yet, as she said that, when entering inside the park, some though looking men walked toward Mary and Philip and moved to grab into Mary's delicate-looking arms.
"My, my. What a hot babe we got here, guys. Should we sell her to the slave auction?"
Mary's eyes turned cold when she heard that, and before the filthy hands of the slaver could even touch her, she seemed to disappear from where she was, while three strong gusts of winds splashed the dust around where she initially was.
Walking forward, not disturbed by those slavers, she held Philip's tiny hands, who was looking with admiring eyes at his sister.
"Big sister, you really are strong."
"While you were playing with toys in the mansion, I was training day and night. What do you expect, to let some scum touch me as he pleases?"
Saying that with their track being lost in the sea of people, the three slavers trying to apprehend Mary dropped on the ground, dead with a finger hole in their chest, exiting from their backs straight from the heart, slowly starting to dirty the stone pavement with their blood.
Ohh myy, what we got here? A Celestial Noblewoman? She really is to my liking, what about you guys? Do you enjoy the reveal of Mary and her younger brother Philip?
.
She also has big plans, but could they be achieved? I still have to see.
