With the sounds of the last wolf howling to the skies, Aurelia stabbed her blade into the ground, littered with blood. She leaned against her sword, scarred with injuries that showcased the bone around her body. Her cheeks retained an ashen complexion as blood trailed from her lips and her eyes cloudy as the morning's mist.
The battle against the wolves had ended.
The Fallen staggered against her blade, skimming her murky eyes over the bloody battlefield. Coughing up a mouthful of blood that rushed into her lungs, she tumbled to the ground.
However, there was no fear within her heart. Holding onto the Eldritch Staff, a wisp of darkness tethered to her staff slowly began to wither away the corpses around her. Mending her body bit by bit, her cheeks slowly began to regain a bit of color.
"Your getting stronger," Eldritch sounded.
Laying flatly on her back under the shade of the Redwoods, a bitter chuckle echoed from her lips. " Were I alone, I would have died."
"Your body is awakening, my queen." He uttered lightly, "You would have survived because it would have forced you to fight on. How do you feel?"
"Like I'm in heaven," said Aurelia and pulled herself up. She surveyed the battlefield, letting her dim eyes land upon the only two people she cared for.
On one knee, covered with more wounds than her, with his head low and his body pouring blood, stood Sionn. Bones racing down his back, revealing his spine, reflected through Aurelia's golden eyes as Ella sat to his side pale as a ghost.
Devouring Arcana from the Heavens and Earth, an emerald hue surrounded her body, as she muttered, the incantation of healing. "Sei'Cal," She uttered in the ancient tongue of the Elves.
Wrapping Sionn's body in an emerald flame, Ella's cheeks grew even fainter, and her eyes slowly began to dim. While her state was a bit better than Sionn's, Ella had lost tons of blood and was bleeding out as she had been healing her allies more than she was herself.
Watching Ella mend her brother's injuries, Aurelia staggered to her two feet with a deep coldness as she glanced to the others. Who laid weakly against the ancient trees of the redwoods.
"Let it go," Eldritch warned. "You three had the most experience, so you took more of a load. It's your own fault, my queen. In war, if there is no teamwork, you are dead. Now you have leverage. They need you more than you need them." he phrased, causing the fallen cheeks to rise.
Glancing towards Baldor moderately beaten like she was, walking towards Sionn, he leaned over against a tree and pulled a small vial filled with evergreen liquid from his infinity ring, called Orges Essense. A potion derived from pulling out the lifeforce and genes that gave an ogre their robust vitality.
"His spine is injured; he will need this." Baldor weakly uttered, pulling the cork from off the vial, filling the air with a foul stench that would siphon the foulest of creatures. Sionn gagged and glanced up with faded eyes.
"You better kill me now. I'm not drinking that." He insisted with a strenuous breath.
Aurelia rolled her eyes and raced over. Pulling the vial from Baldors hands, she jabbed it down Sionns throat, who was far too defenseless to resist.
"Damn you," He cried as his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and He fell faint upon the bloody grass.
"You save your strength for healing later." Said Baldor staring warmly at Ella, who nodded, closing her eyes.
"It's a bad time, but we need to leave." The fallen insisted, placing her hand upon both Ella and Sionn's; she chanted 'cleanse' as to wipe away the blood upon their bodies. She did the same to herself and Baldor, freeing them of any excess of dirt and blood that could be tracked.
Knowing they were still bleeding, she had hoped that tracking them would be more challenging since the amount of blood upon their bodies was smaller. Taking to Ella's side, Aurelia lifted Ella while Baldor took care of Sionn.
"We are leaving," The Fallen muttered, holding a bit of Acana left; she informed Caldor, Tena, and Nila. Who had proved themselves least then competent in a battle of stamina.
---
Setting up camp a decent distance away from the battlefield, the sun's had all but set bring forth the darkness. A stillness had descended over the land, letting only the crackle of fire resound through the Redwoods.
Watching Ella and Sionn resting in the lotus position, Aurelia surveyed their injuries that were mending at a visible rate. She then turned to Caldor, who had gone awfully silent during this time. His head slowly lowered as he felt the Fallens long stare upon his back.
Clitting her tongue in derision, Aurelia withdrew from sight, as her injuries had long since begun to heal at an abnormal rate.
"Can you teach me about death?" Aurelia muttered faintly towards the darkness, knowing Eldritch was listening. "I want to know about death and destruction."
"You are a bit too weak to learn about any of these Ancient Dao. Your brain is still growing, and your comprehension will not fully reach its zenith till you enter puberty. Do you still wish to learn even if you cannot truly grasp anything?" Eldritch softly informed.
"I don't care." She answered with a burning fire in her eyes
"What if you end up killing those two by your side." He countered sinister as darkness filled Auralia's eyes. "Zariel warned you, did he not? The dark arts will cause madness. You may end up turning on your allies before you know it."
Hesitating for a moment, Aurelia gulped, recalling the sweet taste of battle. The warm blood that pooled over her flesh and the almost heavenly sensation of tearing away life from another. She shook as the faces of Ella and Sionn seemed to fade from her mind.
"I want power," she answered, bringing a smile upon Eldritch's soul.
"Then I shall teach you. Zariel was not a good master in regards to the Dao. He may teach you anything else, but when it comes to Heavenly Dao, he is somewhat lacking in front of Masters like myself." Said Eldritch proudly.
"What I wish for you to do, is never to place your sword in your infinity ring. This will teach you about sword intent, which is Zariels job. I will want you to think of the kill from now on whenever you sever the head of the beast. Replay it in your mind, replay everything like you were watching a movie."
Taken back by his intent, Aurelia spoke out, "What will that do?"
"Intent is everything. It's one of the core factors of creation. If you wish to walk, you must have the intent to walk. If you wish to eat, you must have the intent to lift your food. If you wish to touch upon the Laws of Death, then touch upon death in both your mind and body. It's the same with the Laws of Destruction."
"This will make me stronger?" She inquired in a tone that suggested doubt.
"My grace, by the time you reach your destination, I am sure the way you hold your blade, the way you see the world, and the way you kill will change all together. So are the effects of the Dao of heaven and Earth."
