Ray is still pretty bothered on the revelation of who Theodore Payne really is. He doesn't know what to do. A side of his heart tells him to move on but a part of his mind is still stuck on the past and has a hard time overcoming that wall. Another side of his heart is to take revenge but a side of his brain is telling him to not do it and just try to create new relationships that won't end the same way as his parents did.
He was conflicted, very much so. But he's a strong person. Managing to smile through and keep up the facade that he kept up for years.
A knock was then heard from the door which interrupted Ray's gaming time. He put both of his hands on his cheeks and stretched it out trying to see if he can still form a natural fake smile. After a few seconds of tweaking, he stood up and opened the door. "Hey Theo where you be-" He looked around and there seems to be nowhere there.
"Over here!" Someone called out to him.
He looked down and saw a girl holding a pen and what seems to be notes. "Oh hello. Um... this isn't the girl's room. You must be mistaking this place for the other one."
"Nope. I've been meaning to look for you. You're... Ray Moore right? The hotshot from Sleeping Dogs and the rising star of the academy?"
"Aha... what's with those names and titles!? But yes, it is I, Ray Moore. The only on-"
"Well, I wanted to ask you some questions... I'm from the newspaper club."
"Ah-... Alright. Come in."
"Entering the boys' dorm room is forbidden so we shall talk outside. So that when you try to assault me I can scream and run away."
"I won't do anything like that!" Ray let out a sigh, "Fine, what do you want to ask about."
"Theodore Payne. I wanted to know more about him."
Ray jolted a little bit like a small electric shock throughout his body. He still kept up a fake smile even though hearing his name slightly irritated him. "Sure, what do you want to know?"
"Well, Theodore is a mysterious guy so I wanted to ask him from you. His roommate. What do you think of him?"
"A goddamn killer, murderer and an emotionless psychopath who can walk on this world without knowing the consequences of what he did to ruin people's lives." Is what Ray wanted to say with all his heart but he couldn't open his mouth and tell anyone about that.
"Hello?" Anastasia called out to him.
"Oh, sorry." Ray snapped back to reality. "Well, he's this guy who you know, values silence over anything. The moment I turn on my pc, he rushes out the place like some kind of thief and heads off to wherever he can and he comes back like around six or seven."
"Is there anything else?"
"Nothing much. But I do have to ask... why is the newspaper club spying on Theodore Payne?"
"Well, we're trying to gather information on new students so that we can further improve the upcoming festivals."
"Hmm... then everyone should've gotten a pamphlet or something to sign so that their information should be used. So, what are you doing here? Member of the so called 'newspaper club?'"
"Fine... I have something to return to Theodore but I need to know more about him."
"How will knowing their traits be a part of you giving him something? I'm his roommate, just give whatever you want to me and I'll give it to him."
"No... its not... physical. Either way, I have to give this to him myself. Goodbye!" Anastasia was obviously getting uncomfortable and wanted to end the questions but Ray wouldn't let her go.
"If she's gathering information then she should know who is close to Theodore... But... do I... this..." Ray didn't think anymore and just grabbed her shoulder.
"I need to leave."
"Wait a minute. Who are the other people you interviewed?"
"Mostly the random people in the campus. And I'm not allowed to talk about this."
"I must tell him who you interviewed since you might ruin his social life. If you can't do that, I need to know since I'm his roommate." Another facade brought up by Ray.
"Well... the others were useless but the most helpful people are, Gwynneth Cadence from the basketball club, Celaine Edelstein the librarian and Victoria Sinclair, the president of the Music Club... That's all. So there's nothing left?"
"You, who are you?"
"I'm Anastasia Veilyn. Sorry for snooping around your friend's life but I have to give him something that only I can give. Don't worry, I won't do this again. Thanks for everything. See you." Anastasia immediately left the place.
Ray went back to his dorm and contemplated there on what he'd do in this information. "Anastasia Veilyn... Something she could only give... of course... she's in love with him. Why would someone just randomly ask for people on a person that just barely got here... But... what will I do with this information..."
It was like an angel and a devil on his shoulder trying to decide on what to do. Some parts of him wants to let go and some parts of him wants to get revenge.
A mother who only wanted happiness for his son taken away because of rich people.
A father who only cared about money.
A broken man that is Ray Moore whose life was spent living on lies and deceit. He was a nobody. But with his new persona that he created for himself, he's something.
"So what should I do..." He couldn't handle the ever growing thoughts of him committing crimes that he wouldn't think of if he just led a normal life.
But those thoughts took over. "Yes... this is exactly what I want... this is what I want... I've suffered for so long, I've lied for so long. I tried to move on. But you came back. I was moving forward but you dragged me back in that past... This isn't my fault. But yours... This is... your fault. And I will do anything I can to put you in the same shoes as I was. I will give you hell as you gave mine."
Darkness overtook Ray's mind. He was already broken. Knowing who Theodore was just reopened and worsened the wound as he was the final poison that completely corrupted Ray Moore.
He smiled and looked at the mirror. And it looked like it was a different person. A completely unmasked Ray Moore looking at himself in the mirror. No more fake smiles, no more fake happiness. This is him...
That single face he was making as he was looking at the mirror, "This is me. This is what he created."
