Lost ( II )

The foolish Lumielle in the past was gone, but the anger remained. Though, this was not something frivolous that she had stolen. No, this time, what had vanished from her precious jewelry box was the earrings. 

She couldn't have stolen the gaudy rose ruby necklace that her father had given? She had expected Cosette's sticky fingers to linger towards the giant ugly necklace that the Emperor had given and one that she flaunted around due to the size. 

Yet, somehow, she lost the one thing Asterias had given to her. 

The rational side of her brain told her that she should let it go. It was a piece of jewelry. She should take the loss, and bide her time. But, she clenched her fist. She remembered his tender touch, the smile on his face, the last hug that they shared. Asterias was gone and the one sentimental thing of value that he had given her had been stolen. 

"Evangeline, prepare a carriage. I'm going to the Diamond Palace."
