As night falls the many terrors that comes with it follows, the three mountains took on a frightening appearance. The clouds surrounded the top of these mountains making them look haunting.
How could such a place that was used to bring safety bring on the feeling of dread?
The carnotaurus was closer to her destination, that didn't change the fear that she was feeling. Goliath had remained by her side, he also hasn't said a word. Her heart raced in her rib cage, she almost felt like fainting.
She stopped suddenly, Goliath picked up on her stopping and his massive head turned to look at her slowly. She didn't see anyone that she recognized from where she stood.
She didn't want to join Goliath, but she fears that if she gets closer then she would be ambushed. She was a teen who had a little rex, she couldn't do much against Goliath and his clan.
"What is wrong, Stripes?", asked Goliath in a deep voice. He was playing the part very well, he still hadn't broke his 'nice guy' character.
"I am just tired.", she replied fast. She really tried hiding her fear from him. That and there was no one there that had survived from her clan. How could this happen? Her clan was prosperous and yet it fell so easily.
"Oh, you have been through a lot I suppose you would be tired.", replied Goliath as he gave her a rather kind look. Though his eyes held no emotion, that made her blood run cold.
The little rex was stuck to her like glue, that was enough of a indication that he was up to no good.
"Why do you want me to join so bad?", she asked this curiously. Goliath didn't seem like the type to go all out to recruit one person. The markings he wore and his eyes just said something entirely different.
"You remind me of the Evil One.", replied Goliath who stared at her. She didn't know who that was.
"Evil One?", she replied looking at him.
Goliath looked at her in a blank stare, he didn't blink either as he responded. "Yes, I am fairly old but I have seen him several times. A blind carnotaurus who has been deemed that name. He only appears at night, the left side of his face had been ripped off from so many battles."
The teen blinked, she had never seen anything like that. Of course blind beasts were all different in appearance but acted the same way. "I have never seen him.", she replied.
Goliath smiled slowly, "If you had seen him, you would be dead."
The teen didn't know what to say, a carnotaurus that was missing the half of his face. She didn't think a beast would survive with such wounds but from what he said, they clearly can. "Why is he called that?", she spoke looking at him sternly.
Goliath chuckled in a deep tone, "Cause his horns are always bloody like his face. He is quite large for a carnotaurus as well." He looked at her slowly as he said. "He had mated once, he has the exact markings like you."
She blinked in surprise, she shook her head. "The chances of me being anyone's child is high but I am not that child."
Goliath looked at her with his eyes narrowing, "You don't know that. If you see him you may change your mind."
The night air brought on a bone chilling cold, Goliath stood still before looking at the three peaks ahead. "We are close, hopefully you will see someone you know."
The carnotaurus watched him turn around and walk forward, she followed slowly with the little rex close at her feet. His words actually frightened her.
What would she do if she sees this so called "Evil One", to give a blind beast a name was something unheard of. Names were used to separate the blind, so why give a blind carnivore a name.
Goliath was clearly a elder, she could see that now. How old was he? Why did he give a name to a blind beast?
"Why did you name the beast that?", she asked this looking at Goliath.
Goliath merely responded, "We worship him."
This made the teen slow to a stop, she had never heard of a clan worshiping a blind beast. To worship him was something evil. Blind beasts only lusts for blood, to worship such a animal was unholy.
This opened her eyes to the truth, Goliath and his clan were evil. She had to get away!
The carnotaurus moved down to pick up the little rex, Goliath hearing the quick movements turned. "What are you doing?"
The teen turned and ran, she heard Goliath call after her. "STRIPES!?!"
There was no way in hell that she was going to join a clan like that!
As she ran she tripped over a large root and fell down a slope, her body rolled downward. The little rex followed her down as they both tumbled. Hitting the floor did she stand up, she looked at the little rex checking on him.
She blinked hearing a sound and she picked up the rex and hid under the heavy shrubbery and as she hid did she hear loud steps. She looked up and saw Goliath, he followed her.
Thank god it was night, her dark colors proved useful in this situation.
Goliath looked around before stomping off, and as he disappeared into the trees did she hear a sound. It sounded so different from the calls of the blind.
The little rex was shivering as it was cuddled close to her, a heavy breathing sound erupted in the darkened air.
Was the Evil One nearby?
She looked around carefully while making sure to not make a sound. She remained hidden where she was.
A heavy rumbling shook the ground, this scared her greatly. What was happening!
The teen picked up the little rex as she quickly moved from her spot and as she did a large foot crashed into the shrubbery. With her hiding spot gone she quickly ran into another patch of shrubbery.
Looking carefully out did she see a large rex with a heavy wound upon its neck. It was a blind rex so why was it running away? The wound upon its neck was grotesque, flesh was dangling from the deep wound.
The teen felt her heart lodge into her throat as a familiar silhouette formed behind the rex. The moonlight hugged the figure firmly, her eyes went wide.
It was definitely a carnotaurus like her, yet there was something different about it. It's right eye glew in a crimson color, but it's left eye was gone. It took her a moment to realize who it was.
A large carnotaurus came charging behind the wounded rex, the left side of its face was heavily scarred to the point that you can see its skull. With such a heavy injury the beast should be dead right?
This monstrous beast had stripes similar to the teen, but it's bodily color was a deep maroon color. The horns upon its head were dyed in the color of blood, but the horns were long and the tips were lightly curled.
This monster had blood all over its face, the scars upon its muscular structure were great in numbers. The teen knew that she was seeing it, the 'Evil One'.
The rex was violently grabbed by this beast, its head thrashed from side to side making a horrible wound upon the rex. This large carnotaurus made short work of the muscles of the rex. The blind rex collapsed to the ground, the sound of gurgling blood came out of its mouth.
The teen looked away from the image of the wounds on the rex, it was just brutal.
The blind carnotaurus literally tore the blind rex apart not at all eating its flesh. It tore it apart in such a violent way, the teen knew why it was given its name now.
The blood splattered onto the blind carnotaurus heavily, and once the rex was thoroughly ripped to shreds did the demonic carnotaurus walk off in search of its next victim.
The teen closed her eyes, she felt her body shake in such a way unlike any other. She had witnessed the 'Evil One', she wished she had never asked of it. The fact that such a beast like that exists was just shocking.
There was a greater evil than the one who had destroyed her clan, furthermore there was a clan who worshipped such a demon. She for once in her life didn't feel at all safe.
She would remain hidden until the morning, she would never forget this experience.
Within the valley everyone slept, Bloodmaw was keeping his eyes open for anything to happen. Though, there was not that many blind beasts around he had to always be aware.
Anything could happen when you least expect it.
The clan had done so much good work today, tomorrow would be no different. Bloodmaw blinked however when he noticed someone in the camp getting up.
Bloodmaw watched as they approached him, it took him a moment to realize who it was. "Grim?"
Grim nodded silently as he laid down beside him, the brute looked down at everyone.
Bloodmaw looked at him in silence, Grim was a mysterious brute. Ever since the day he first joined the clan he was different from the rest.
From what he remembered, Grim came from a harsh background. Grim was more or less used for a clan who prided themselves in combat. In a way, Grim was a warrior and that was it.
The brute had never enjoyed much freedom, he fought because that was all that he knew.
"Can't sleep?", asked Bloodmaw.
Grim looked at him in silence before saying, "I will take watch. You go ahead and rest."
Bloodmaw looked at him with a smirk, from day one this brute remained by his side and was very loyal to him and the clan.
"I am alright.", replied Bloodmaw.
Grim snorted loudly, "Do whatever."
The night was a beautiful time, you only had to get past the constant dangers and threats.
"You like Ebony?", asked Bloodmaw.
Grim looked at him dumbfounded, he looked down with the same expression.
Bloodmaw chuckled, "I can understand why, she's a tough girl. She has been through so much though." He looked down after he said this.
Grim looked to where Ebony was sleeping, she laid beside Swiftscale which made the brute glare.
"She I think likes the baryonyx. I am glad that he looks after my kids.", spoke Bloodmaw looking at Swiftscale.
"He likes Ebony.", spoke Grim.
Bloodmaw frowned looking at Grim, "I guess that makes you mad huh?"
Grim looked at him in silence.
Bloodmaw chuckled as he said, "Love is great and all but it hurts a lot when you lose them."
Grim looked down, "I don't want to lose her."
Bloodmaw looked at him with a fatherly gaze, he honestly saw Grim as a older son. "If that is the case, be there for her when she needs it. She may one day return your feelings, but if she doesn't it is not the end of the world."
Grim was silent as he listened to Bloodmaw.
"There will be someone else out there that you can love. The world is big, be patient.", spoke Bloodmaw with a kind smile.
Grim gave a brief smile at Bloodmaw, "I may just give up on love. After all why would a warrior need it?"
Bloodmaw looked at him and he chuckled, "Love is wonderful, it makes you stronger. You want to be there for that person, you want to protect them." He looked out at the moon as he said. "I was a warrior, I fought all the time. I didn't think I needed love either but that changed when I met my wife. You will find someone for you."
Grim looked at the moon with Bloodmaw, he chuckled a bit. "Whatever you say."
As the moon sits high, a new day soon approaches.
Goliath's crew worships a deadly beast, a beast unlike any other! I hope you like the description to the beast known as, The Evil One!
I was writing this with the feeling of fear of the unknown and I hope that you felt where I was coming from! ^^
