章 58: Boggart

A little over a week has passed since Hagrid's class. I was able to try to see what was going to happen when I assimilated a new creature, and we can say that the result is interesting. During the absorption phase, it is not really me who absorbs the essence but the Beast. After literally devouring the essence of the kneazle, he got a little bigger and his tail became similar to that of a lion, his ears are much bigger. When I change shape, I can see the same changes taking place in me.
But the most disturbing change comes directly from the bond that unites me to the Beast, after devouring the kneazle, he has also become more powerful, and keeping control has become more difficult. But the fact that he has become more powerful makes me say that he's not just the spirit of the wampus cat that I originally absorbed but the direct manifestation of my new powers.

Of all the horcrux the only ones that are not family jewels are the cup of Helga Hufflepuff and the tiara of Rowena Ravenclaw. It is therefore quite natural that I used the tiara to test the athame.
I used the Room on requirement to create an empty room in which I could use the same containment measures I created for the Bowtruckle experiment; I also have the fiendfyre flask if the situation start to go wrong.
After placing the tiara in the center of the room, I take out the athame. I do not know if it is already the tiara which is about to defend itself, but it starts to vibrate on the ground making a threatening noise. I hesitated for a moment to activate all the containment measures and throw the vial of fiendfyre on the tiara but seeing that it was only wiggling on the ground I decided to give the first stab.
The blade crosses the crown without leaving any trace and a cry from beyond the grave is heard. I keep hitting through the tiara until the blade stops going through it and make it rolls a bit further. Can I conclude that it worked? I rub the blade against the silver object to see if it goes back through or not, but I think we can say that the athame test is a great success. The only things left is to recover the family ring in our old mansion, if that's where it is, and the medallion of Salazar Slytherin in the house of Black.
Today we have Defense Against the Dark Arts class with Snape. This time the tables are pushed back against the walls and a large wardrobe sits in the center of the room.
"Well, today we're going to see how to defend yourself against a boggart. Who among you can tell me what he looks like?"
"Nobody knows that. He changes his appearance at will. Boggarts take on the aspect of what scares us the most, that's why they're so terrifying." Hermione suddenly appeared; did she get the Time-Turner in this reality?
"Correct answer Miss Granger, ... however ... I would ask you to raise your hand to speak next time, ... else I might be less lenient." He looks at all of our faces one after the other examining our reactions. "As Miss Granger said, the very essence of boggart is fear, the only thing that can counter it is the exact opposite ... laughter. I am now going to show you the spell that can neutralize a boggart... for this you will have to imagine something that makes your fear ... laughable. " His gaze becomes very insistent on Neville. "We'll start by repeating the spell, wandless please."
After ten minutes of repeating the spell, Snape decides that we are ready for our first encounter with a boggart. The first to go is Neville which promises to be the most interesting. When Snape opens the cabinet, a second Snape can be seen coming out of it. I can see Neville turning pale before finally casting the incantation. Boggy-Snape takes on a sad clown makeup before Snape sends him back to the closet.
"Congratulations Mr. Longbottom, I don't know if I should feel offended or flattered to be the center of all your nightmares, however I am going to take 3 points from Gryffindor for the audacity you had to make me wear this makeup… ridiculous. Next "
The students continue to go in front of the cupboard exposing all their fear until we get to Harry. I don't think the biggest fear is the dementors, he wasn't attacked on the train as all the dementors were on me. I really wonder what terrifies the hero of the story.
Snape unlocks the cupboard whose door opens slowly. We can see a hand with a purple sleeve pushing the door. When the door is finally opened, Quirell comes out. He puts his hands behind his head and begins to undo his turban. As the last piece of fabric falls on the ground, Quirell turns and reveals Voldemort's face in plain sight.
"Harry ... Potter"
Snape seems to snap out of it and stands between Harry and the boggart, who takes on the appearance of Lilly and James Potter. Snape casts the spell and James becomes a garden gnome and Lilly an ugly misshapen witch with a wart covered face. As the boggart returns to the closet to hide, Snape turns angrily and walks straight to Harry.
"Poor moron, how could you have the audacity to stand in front of this cupboard when you knew your greatest fear. I should hang you by the feet from the top of the astronomy tower or tear you to shreds until you ask for mercy. " I don't think I've ever seen Snape in such a state. "However, the good old days of corporal punishment are behind us, which is why I would only take fifty points away from you. Estimate yourself happy ... and don't hesitate to praise my mercy. The class is over."
