Wayne Myers was an unfortunate man, if something could go wrong to him, it would. He always had to look out for birds flying overhead. Once, a straight line of birds flew over him and decided to wreck his day, he was completely covered in wet, white bird poo after the birds had passed.
Even though his life was one wrought with misfortunes, he was nevertheless able to found a small company and get a reasonable income. He got used to avoiding any potential inconvenience or danger that might crop out from random places.
However, just when he started to enjoy life, he realized that his bad luck was simply piling up and waiting.
Wayne was crossing a street while checking his watch, he had a meeting to get to and had woken up late so he was in a hurry. All of a sudden, a truck came barreling at him, the driver was panicking, the brakes most likely jammed or broke. He analyzed this in a moment and rolled out of the way, this was a common occurrence so he didn't think much of it, in fact, many people recognized him as the unluckiest man on earth and clapped after seeing him dodge the truck.
'Haha, take that Truck-kun. 274-0' Wayne internally mocked the being that seeked to end his life and continued to his company.
He never could've expected what happened next. He saw that a truck was crashing through a nearby store and coming straight towards him, he dodged that one only to find that another was following and coming towards him at break-neck speeds. He used his momentum to further dodge out of the way and yet again, another truck was coming through the clearing the other trucks had made and went straight towards Wayne.
Nevertheless, he simply lied down, Trucks had a large clearing underneath that he practiced diving under since he was only 15. He successfully dodged the third truck.
'Damn, you're really out to get me huh? 277-0' Wayne noted his victories and continued with his day, however, god had other plans.
All of a sudden, day turned to night, no the sun was covered. Wayne looked up.
"What the fuck..." He cursed. Above him were a dozen trucks that were lined up perfectly, leaving no room to run, they were all flying down towards him.
The trucks all fell to ground level where Wayne stood. Thankfully, he retreated to a stop sign. It was able to break the windshield of the truck and he was able to survive, although he was heavily injured, the glass had all been coming down at terminal velocity and cut all over his body.
"Hahaha. Truck-kun, I live again! That's 289!" He audibly shouted; he was ecstatic that he had the brains to hide under a stop sign.
All of a sudden, Wayne realized that he was still right next to a store with electricity coursing throughout it, most likely sparking. He was in a gang-bang of heavily damaged, flammable trucks. Sparks + Flammable = bad. The trucks all exploded, Wayne died in that explosion.
Wayne Myers woke up in a dark space, he was extremely confused. As soon as he thought this, a light silhouette showed itself to him.
"Hello child, I am a god." A voice came from nowhere. Before Wayne could ask where the voice was coming from, it continued.
"I'm aware you must have a lot of questions, but please let me speak, I'll answer after I've said everything." The voice sounded both angelic and demonic which freaked him out, but he didn't talk and simply nodded his head, if he had a head.
"All of your life's misfortunates were because of my mistake. When creating you, I accidentally dialed the luck setting to the 2nd lowest available." The voice spoke. Wayne didn't complain, and simply nodded his head. Although he acted calm, he wanted nothing more in this moment to back hand this useless god.
"To make up for my mistake, I've decided to let you live again in a prosperous world." The voice finished. Wayne nodded.
"So, every isekai ever? What cheat am I getting?" He asked with excitement, he spent most of his days indoors to avoid unlucky situations so he had a lot of time to watch anime and such.
"I'm glad you are so quick to understand your situation. You are able to pick a body and world to inhabit, your abilities with be chosen at random." The voice said. It's demonic and angelic voice becoming more and more out of sync which was slightly unnerving.
"Has my bad luck been taken away? Otherwise, I'll get the worst abilities possible." He asked in suspicion. This was too good to be true, he wasn't going to blindly believe it.
"Of course."
"Of course not." The angelic and demonic voices said very different things. The voice acted as if it didn't just say that and a screen popped up in front of Wayne, showing his options.
Knowing that prying further wouldn't be advantageous to him, Wayne simply got to work.
He knew of 4 near-perfect bodies to inhabit. Indra Otsutsuki and Madara Uchiha from Naruto, Adam the first human and Diluc Ragnvindr from Genshin Impact.
He began crossing some out.
'Indra and Madara may have a negative impact on my mental state so they're disqualified.' He reasoned. He wasn't entirely sure how this would work but he was entirely sure that the 'god' wouldn't help him more than it had to.
'Between Adam and Diluc... I'll go with Diluc.' Wayne's order was recognized and Diluc appeared on the screen. Diluc was described to be 'unmatched in every possible way' so Adam and Diluc were on the same level.
"Hmm? Why choose that body?" The voice sounded out. Wayne wanted to ignore it like it had been ignoring him but her replied nevertheless.
"Blood blends in with red hair." It was a simple reason but the god laughed like it was the best joke it ever heard.
"For you or the enemy?" It continued to laugh. The angelic part of the voice soothed his soul with the demonic one put shivers up his back.
Wayne then looked to the second holographic board in front of him. It gave a variety of different worlds.
"Can I crossover some worlds?" He asked. He would've preferred a crossover between worlds to increase his pool of abilities.
"Nope." The voice responded curtly.
Wayne decided not to ask about it and instead asked a different question.
"Why are powers decided through luck rather than choice?" He asked. The light silhouette seemed slightly pissed.
"Another god gave a human the chance to reincarnate and was stupid enough to not restrict him enough. That human ended up becoming a god himself. He even seduced half of the single female gods, leaving amazing gods like me without nothing!" The god ranted for a bit. Wayne wanted to meet this person just to see how someone who went through the same thing as him was going.
Nevertheless, he clicked on 'Boku No Hero Academia' or 'My Hero Academia'. His reasoning was simple, any type of ability he got would work in that world and was socially accepted. Mirko was also in that universe.
Now the lotto for his powers. He spun it with all the vigor he could muster. It spiraled, around and around, and around. Until finally, it landed on 'World Travel to Games.' before he could scream out in excitement, three other roulette wheels spun. The first landed on Doom.
'I can live with that; the guns and armor are cool and I can come back to it later once my life isn't in danger.' he was content with an awesome game, although he wouldn't be able to use it for a while since he was at a huge risk of dying.
The second wheel landed upon 'Dark Souls 1&3'. They counted as the game title so they were both included.
'Well, fuck. Although I can't die, it doesn't mean dying repeatedly is easy. Dying just once hurt like hell.' Wayne was becoming increasingly worried. At this moment he knew that his bad luck was fucking him over. He was praying to any god except the one in front of him for good luck.
The last wheel landed on 'Bloodborne'.
Wayne kneeled in defeat. He just got Dark Souls but with the added feature of spendable insanity. He was completely fucked from all worlds he could travel to.
"HEHEHEHEHE." The god giggled to itself while Wayne's consciousness faded.
'Fuck you....' His voice faded.
(A.N. Ok I'll have a chapter every day for this and one every day for Waifu Gacha System. Except weekends maybe.)
