章 73: Ch.73 Marking your territory?
The next morning Kris could be seen sitting crossed leg with eyes closed on the suite's balcony. He is trying to enter meditation, in order to digest the information he was able to gather yesterday, and plan for his next move.
But then, a scream was heard a cross the hall which had woken up Clear, who was still laying in bed from their little trysk last night.
Kris stood up, and rushed towards the room the newbies were staying at. The only one their was Zhu Wen, she then told Kris that when they woke up just this morning the skinny teen wasn't in the room with them.
So Lilin looked for him while telling ZhuWen to stay put. Clear came rushing in, now fully dressed, to where the two were.
Kris told Clear to stay with ZhuWen, as he will check the other room for the missing two.
Upon entering the 3rd suite, Kris heard Lilin's voice. When Kris followed the voice what he saw was the crying mess that was Lilin huddled in a corner, and the skinny kid now on the bathrooms tub,with a broken neck.
His clothes were neatly piled on top of the sink. Where the burnt remains of his talisman could be seen.
He must have gone to bathe. When he took off his clothes, he also left the talisman on the sink. Due to it being away from him, he wasn't able to use it to fend off Death.
Kris took Lilin to the other suite, and called 911 on his smart phone.
When the police came officer Burke was with them, after the standard questioning. Everyone followed officer Burke down to the station as he mentioned Kimberly was meeting him there.
Kris took his car, with him was the 2 newbies, and Clear who was riding shutgun.
On their way to the police station, they were almost run over by a Hice Beer truck with the plate number VKY 722. Which made Kris aware that Death is trying to get them this time.
After narrowly escaping Death's attempt, Kris's phone rang. Being on the phone, and driving was a major no-no, just after Death tried to kill you. So Kris ask Clear to answer it for him.
It was Zheng, informing them of WangXia's death, and the successful retrieval of Lan. They have also injured Yinkong. But, she escaped towards a News tower, where Jie, and Honglu are holing up.
Everyone was sorry to hear WangXia's passing but, they were not out of the woods yet.
Upon arriving at the station, they were met by Kimberly saying "I tried to call everyone here. But, after the incident at officer Burke's apartment. They didn't want to be involved in anymore killings."
"They must have thought that because a bunch of other people a still ahead of them in Death's list it won't get to them." said Clear
"Clear, The last time we were at Mr. Bludworth's place he said something about a new life is that really possible? Because I remembered there was a pregnant woman at the ramp." Kimberly asked Clear for confirmation.
Clear wasn't even able to respond, when Burke cut her off.
"Is that why you asked us to meet you here? because it's perfect! We can look for some information about the pile up from the statement the department have gathered." said officer Burke
Kris new this was a dead end, as that pregnant woman wasn't even supposed to die in the pile up...
So he told ZhuWen, and Lilian in chinese,"Be vigilant, and don't let your talisman out of your sight. If you could, ZhuWen, use your eyes to check the room from time to time, warn us if anything changes."
They headed to the file room of the station, Officer Burke help them locate the pregnant woman's information. After sometime they were able to get the license plate of the womans van.
The cop then used his connections to get her home address. When they are about to leave, and find the pregnant lady.
Cops started to come into the room, they had their guns out saying, "Please raise your hands up, and no sudden movements. You are under arrest for suspicion of murder, Illegal entry into this country, and are suspected members of the Chinese Mafia."
Kris, made sure everyone complied with the police. They have nothing to worry about, the moment they left the bus at the ramp, he had used his smartphone to create fake ID's for himself, and the rest.
He was sure Zheng, and the others affairs have caught the police's eye.
Not to mention the series of death that they were involved in. It wouldn't be a surprise if the police comes to this conclusion.
They were all brought into custody, and placed into individual cells. Anything that may seem to be a weapon was taken from them, but Kris placed his phone into his storage belt.
They were interrogated one by one even Clear, and Kimberly.
When it was Kris's turn an FBI detective was there, The cop ask him... and Kris would answer.
"Name?" .... "Kris Wu"
"Age?" ... "22"
"It says here your from Maryland, New Jersey... is that true?" ... "Yes"
"What's your purpose of visit?" ... "I'm here on leave."
"Its says here your a Ranger, Special Forces 1st Lieutenent." ... "That's true Sir."
"Now why don't we quit the bullshyte, and tell me! Are you on orders to operate on american soil? 'cause you don't seem chink enough to be triad boy!!" this time it was the FBI detective who asked the question.
"No, sir I'm not on duty right now..." answered Kris
"Then tell me why do I have chinks dying left, and right in this town. It's as if the terminator came to town, and is hunting for a T1000!"
"If the army is not involve then who is?!" this time it was the cop.
Some screams were heard then a bang! that seem like a gunshot.
The poeple in the interrogation room suddenly rushed out, including Kris.
The one who screamed was Kimberly, and as Kris followed her line of sight he saw Lilin shot in the head.
It seemed that an errandboy of the local arms dealer was brought in for questioning but, when the cops tried to check his pockets.
They found some drugs, so the guy panic, and tried to escape but, knocked over a 12 gauge shotgun that was brought in as evidence.
Turns out it was still loaded, and missed fired. But, Lilin was in direct line of the shot. It took the left half of her head when she was hit.
'Death is getting desperate, What the heck! Even the talisman is no use now.'
When Kris looked into the cells again, ZhuWen was still shock but, when he spoted that the wall beside her was also hit by the shotgun rounds. He understood why. The Jade Protection Pendant did its job at least.
Clear saw all this, and was now looking at Kris intently.
When the event was sorted out, it was almost dark outside. Lilin's body was sent to the coroner's, and the rest were released.
The moment they were in Kris's car Clear smacked Kris in the shoulder repeatedly "What was that! I saw it! Some sort of barrier protected her from being shot!"
"Ok, stop-stop. In God's Dimension there are items that could do what you just saw."
"Did you give it to her?! Don't lie to me! She looked like she didn't know that would happen, and she looked at you with gratitude after!" said Clear
"Dymn... Empaths, Yes I gave it to her 'cause she's blind, she was more helpless than the rest what are you on about?! don't... no!" Kris then stared at her with a level eye and said "Your jelly!! oh definitely!"with a smirk.
"What?! no!... Give It!!" Clear said while putting an open palm out.
"What?! give what?!" when he was pinched in the side he understood... so he took off the 28 HUMs Protection Wheel, and handed it to her.
When she received it, she stared at the silent ZhuWen at the back seat of the car. Then wore the pendant around her neck. She instantly felt the warmth the item brought.
Clear sat backdown, and said nothing. Not even looking at Kris. But, there's a visible smirk on her face.
By this time Kimberly, and Burke got out of the station and walked over to them.
We need to find the pregnant lady, and make sure she gives birth successfully. There are only a few of you left that rode the bus, if we don't stop this. Then Mrs. Carpenter will be next.
'And I thought the second day would end here... What have I gotten myself into?'
