The dinner went smoothly with most of the conversations being initiated by none other than Melanie herself. And while the awkwardness wasn't that palpable, no one heard Ashton asking for that favor he was here to ask. By the end of it, Melanie was frustrated that despite the grand meal prepared by her, Ashton didn't say what he was here to say.
So much so that, after the dinner, she found a moment to corner Ashton herself, "What are you doing?"
"What?" Ashton frowned.
"Didn't you have something important to ask?" Melanie raised an eyebrow.
"I did." Ashton nodded. "But it's too unethical for me to ask."
"You do realise the consequences you'll face if you don't right?" Melanie asked.
"Perhaps, I deserve it." Ashton shrugged.
