章 197: Castle little moon (5)
The club lands on my scales and I feel a strange vibration go through me. Something about that metal club is weird.
<We've yet to see something like that. Though we have noticed that this group was extraordinarily efficient when it came to dispatching skeleton knights. Seems we need to get our hands on those clubs and let Hippo take a look at them.>
Hippo?
<A cyclops blacksmith who works for us. Since you don't use weapons you've never met him.>
A second blow lands on my scales and I'm starting to feel quite uncomfortable. That weird vibration is doing something to me!
<It's probably crushing your internal organs. This group might be a bit too much for you. Normally we'd let you fight it out with them but since we need to get those clubs I'll send in some reinforcements.>
Reinforcements? Are you sending Guy or Monica?
<This is a special case. We are usually held to a very high standard of efficiency and can't deploy higher-level forces but those clubs could be troublesome so I've already gotten permission from the alliance. Valeria will be there in a moment.>
Valeria?
"Fireball!"
The mage who stayed with the wounded adventurer finishes his spell and throws a fireball at me. The crusher stops hitting me and moves back. I internally scoff and stop squeezing the other crusher to use him as a shield instead.
The fireball hits him and he screams in even more agony. Since my fangs are still sunk into his shoulder, I also get a taste of the fire but my heat resistance makes it bearable. Is that guy an idiot for attacking me while I hold on to his teammate?
<It's a strategy for getting you to get off him. It's quite common for constricting snake monsters.>
While I hear Navi say that, one of the guys who went to search the walls on the sides arrives before me. He's a martial artist and his fist is clad in golden energy as it smashes into my head.
The hit comes too unexpected and one of my fangs snaps as I am blown away from the wounded crusher. Looks like they got me.
"Quickly, kill it! Don't let it latch onto someone else!"
"You would dare hurt my pet? Seems you have forgotten your place in this world, mortals."
Valeria's voice is different from usual. It's colder and contains a hint of cruelty and bloodlust that causes the adventurers to stiffen.
I turn my head and find her standing right beside me. She's wearing tight black pants, high boots, and blood-red armor covering her chest and shoulders. Her white midriff is not covered at all, her long white hair is tied into a half bun, and her eyes are glowing red like flashlights.
With the dim lighting in the halls, she looks very scary. Then she waves her hands and all the candles go out. Now, only a few beams of sunlight from the windows illuminate the halls.
"Prepare to fight her! She's a vampire!"
Valeria strikes a pose and the sunlight coming in through the windows disappears and is replaced by pale moonlight after a short moment of darkness.
As the moonlight illuminates her still posing form, Valeria smiles in a way that makes my mind go blank. The effect only lasts for a few seconds but the adventurers don't move at all. Are they scared stiff?
<It's one of Valeria's skills that allows her to paralyze her opponents as long as they are affected by her charms. The short blankness of mind you experienced was what they are still feeling. You weren't targeted by the skill so the effect wore off quickly but for those adventurers...>
Suddenly, there is a hissing and cracking sound. I turn to look at the wounded woman next to the mage and see that several bracelets on her arms are trembling. Three of them break and fall to the ground.
Then, contrary to what Navi said, the lady begins to move. The moment she regains her movement she closes her eyes and drops into a defensive posture while unsheathing two short scimitars.
"You think closing your eyes will protect you? Won't you just die for me? Please!"
Valeria draws out every syllable of the words she is saying. I once again blank for a few seconds or maybe more while another two bracelets on the adventurer's arm shatter. There are no more bracelets on her arm now. She looks a bit desperate as she holds her scimitars tightly.
"Is that all you can do? If you have any guts then fight me head-on!"
As if Valeria would do that!
"Sure, sweety, here I come."
The seductive tone in Valeria's voice has disappeared and she slowly strolls towards the adventurer.
Why would she do that?!!
<Valeria has a soft spot for cute girls and her bloodlust is completely taking over.>
"Stay away!"
The adventurer decisively swings her scimitars at Valeria while backing away slowly. Valeria flashes and dodges the blades while getting even closer. The girl panics and begins to spin while her slashing out with her scimitars. She has now turned into a tornado of steel blades cutting indiscriminately. A blade dancer class, huh.
"Hmpf, this is no fun."
I can feel how Valeria uses blood magic and the blade tornado collapses. The blade dancer's injured leg looks downright bloody. The spell must have aggravated her wounds or even caused more damage to her leg. Spinning like that can't be accomplished with one of her legs busted like that.
Moving like a phantom, Valeria tackles her to the ground and pins her down. As she opens her mouth the sharp vampiric fangs are revealed.
"Thank you for the food!"
"Nooooo!"
She bites down and I look away. This is not a sight I am interested in. Can I go my own way now?
<Sure, Valeria will take care of this and retrieve the clubs.>
Thank the gods, I don't know if I could stand all the noise.
