54.54% Traversing Worlds (Multific) / Chapter 5: Ch.5

章 5: Ch.5

Time flew by in my unconscious state until I heard someone scream and I jolted awake. I looked around and winced as I sat up. My head was a bit foggy now, but I clearly wasn't in my home reality because I could see power lines and people in costumes running from....Demons? "The fuck?"

Groaning I looked up and saw a crazy ass masked magician. "I am Dr.Doom and-"

He was about to say more before his mask turned to plastic and he fell on his ass crying like a kid. I raised an eyebrow and groaned as I used my dislocated arm to push myself up. On my own two feet again I stumbled away while I headed towards the hospital wherever the fuck that was.

I got lucky as twenty minutes later I realized the where and the only possible when. I'd seen an iconic blonde girl and her two friends standing besides an older librarian sort of fellow. Groaning, I stumbled over and introduced myself. "Hello?"

They turned to me and asked apprehensively while the soldier looking kid said. "Holy moly it's a pirate!"

I snorted. "Great observation skills kid, maybe you'll tell me it's nighttime and this isn't my world next."

That left him a bit stunned by my dripping sarcasm. The older gentleman asked. "Is- isn't your world?"

I shook my head. "No, one moment I'm fighting some marines on an island in a planet covered in ocean trying to stop them from executing a friend of mine and the next I'm sucker punched through a portal and laying under some floating magic user whose saying he summoned me here. He turns into a kid and now I'm both injured and stuck here while literal demons turn into kids at the stroke of midnight and I can't find a healer to save my life."

To emphasize that I coughed up a bit of blood and blacked out from the lack of oxygen from my rant and a punctured lung. I woke up a while later in a hospital and looked around. The librarian was there at least. "How long was I out and where the hell am I?"

He muttered before answering. "You're in Sunnydale memorial hospital and this is earth if you can believe it."

I grunted and groaned as my body shimmered and vibrated. Groaning I gasped out. "My rings!"

He looked around before grabbing them off the night stand and helped me put them on. The tremors stopped and he asked. "What was that?"

I sighed. "Entropic cascade failure. It means I have a doppelgänger alive in this universe and the universe recognizes I'm a foreign entity because of it."

He frowned and asked. "You mean to say that there's another you here?"

I snorted. "You need to look up the multiverse theory if your world has it. It states that for every variable and decision we make, there's a reality out there that we make a different one hence the infinite realities and possibilities exist. I'm from a separate reality and when I came here the universe had two of me. One that is a natural inhabitant and well, me. And since I'm not an Omni present being, I got the short end of the stick when it tried to get rid of me."

He took his glasses off and cleaned them. "Good lord! And the rings?"

I smiled and held up the middle one. "Electrical ring. Basically it allows me to bend space around me to trick the universe into thinking I'm someone else and a native in a round about way by changing my natural aura. Sort of like a cloak of invisibility or something."

He asked a few questions about my world and I decided to describe it as best I could. Basically it was a world of corrupt marines run by a world government of rapists, slavers and racists vs the pirates who were equally as corrupt and those that just wanted to be adventurers but were labeled pirates.

I told him my personal history only leaving out the memories and images of what I'd seen but I did describe being a sort of seer. I tried using armament haki but it flickered on then off before snorting out which confused me before I asked. "Is there a way to use your will to influence the world around you in this reality?"

He nodded. "Sort of but not nearly like you've described. We have magic here. Sort of like a more versatile devil fruit ability you described."

I sighed. "Well that explains it. This world has different laws and while I'm sure my conquerors haki and observation haki works, my armament haki is a physical manifestation so it won't work here anymore. That sucks."

I used my space ring to make my clothes float over to me and when I saw them cut up, I sighed and tossed them away before grabbing my wallet and boots. The rest I took new pairs out of my space pocket where I kept my treasure.

He asked. "Was that magic?"

I shrugged. "In a way I guess. I managed to put three devil fruits into rings."

I held up my hand. "Space, Lightning and Stargate. A sort of portal ability that I think was the trigger to allowing myself to be summoned here. Usually I have to have a destination firmly in mind, but I was slipping in and out of consciousness from the last blow that shattered my ribs. My space ring allows me to manipulate the space around me and even teleport within visual or observation haki range as well as holding a pocket dimension inside it with all my valuables and treasures. Hence the clothes."

He frowned. "But how can you possibly use it here?"

I shrugged. "It's made from a devil fruit which I'm assuming is my world's version or answer to magic so I'm assuming your world is compensating the difference with it's own laws because of the devil inside it."

His face became serious now. "Are you saying there's a demon inside that ring or that it's some sort of demonic artifact?"

I shrugged. "Don't know and don't care. I do know it can't effect me even now. I can actually feel it fighting for control, but because my 'will' is stronger than all three of them put together, they can't influence me. It's how I awakened their powers fully and crushed their resistance against my will. They can't harm you so long as you don't try to use them yourself and they can't leave the rings at all. I forged the rings with haki and made them a prison of sorts. I do believe this world's magic won't change that even if it alters the type of prison they're in."

He seemed relieved and finally asked. "Treasure?"

I smiled. "It's just a shit ton of gold and some personal affects."

I took out a necklace with a small lump of gold on it and slid it around my neck. He raised an eyebrow. "Another demonic artifact?"

I shook my head. "No, this is pure gold. In my reality it's a form of immortality. It can freeze the aging process around the wearer and stop them from growing old."

He raised an eyebrow and I brushed it off. "Relax old man, I'm only twenty. I just figure I'd rather not grow older until I decide to leave or not for now. I have more if you want some?"

He shook his head. "No thank you."

I chuckled. "It stops sickness as well."

He still shook his head and I shrugged and I got dressed. He noticed I was already healed and asked. "H-how?"

I frowned then answered. "I take it people here aren't fast healers?"

He shook his head and I shrugged. "It's a sort of martial arts technique I utilized. It stores energy from food and in a pinch I can release it to heal my self. The trouble is if the bones aren't sent then bad things happen. Hence waiting until now to heal up."

He nodded and sighed. "I suppose now is a good a time as any."

I chuckled and asked him while he looked away so I could dress in some privacy. "You wouldn't happen to know what currency you all use here or how much gold is worth would you?"

He nodded. "The currency in this country is dollars and as for the price of gold, I'd suggest you exchange them at a bigger city."

I grunted. "Do I need any kind of legal papers?"

He nodded and I frowned. "Very well. I'll go figure it out and find you in a few days."

He frowned and I smirked as I pictured the law offices of Wolfram and Hart before teleporting there via space ring. I landed outside as I bounced off the wards and frowned. A security team came running and I stood up sighing. "That smarted."

I brushed myself off while they held up guns at me. I raised an eyebrow and disappeared to their eyes while using Soru that at least worked though I think it was incorporating magic as the wards flared up while I beat down the security team. The last guy standing tried to shoot when he saw me knock out his friends and another male stopped him. "That won't be necessary!"

I looked over and the man in the expensive suit held out his hand. "I'm a lawyer here at Wolfram and Hart. Lindsey McDonald a pleasure to meet you Mr.?"

I smiled and shook his hand. "Silvers. Damien Silvers."

He smiled and asked. "So what can I do for you Mr.Silvers and why are you trying to teleport into our offices unannounced?"

I shrugged. "I just got to this plane and I was in need of identification and currency exchange and I head you all were the ones to come to for such things. I didn't realize this place was so offensive to teleporting and when I hit your barriers, your guards tried to wave their toys at me so roughed them up a bit."

He raised an eyebrow and asked. "You're from out of town?"

I chuckled. "Do the clothes not give me away or the fact that I haven't slaughtered anyone yet?"

He seemed to catch my meaning and led me inside. After a brief call and an exchange of pleasantries, his boss, a Mr.Holland Manners, asked what all I needed. I told him all legal documents and some gold exchange. He frowned before asking. "And what does Wolfram and Hart get out of this?"

I smiled. "Well, gold of course! I'll part with ten percent of all my gold for the exchange and it's a lot from the feel of this world. Probably more than what your internet calls the federal reserve. I haven't weighed it personally but it's about the size of a mountain all in all. The rest I'm afraid, I'll be needing traded into cash. Minus a small fee for the documents I'm in need of."

He nodded before asking. "And what's stopping us from just taking said gold from you?"

I smiled and patted his aid's hand, deep frying him until his skin melted off and he burned into a liquid puddle while the flammable parts caught fired and his bones shattered like glass. All in all it was quick and gruesome. I smirked. "You can try it but I can turn this entire city into a parking lot as I believe you call it. That was the weakest move I can do with my powers. I could do the same to every living thing for miles around in mere moments."

It was a small exaggeration but not by much. It would simply take a bit more time then what I stated. Both Lindsey and Holland looked far more serious and I asked. "Oh no, was he important?"

Holland shook his head. "Just an intern."

I shrugged. "Not like I care. I killed tens of thousands before coming to this dimension. So, what's it going to be? Business or painful death?"

I released my conquerors haki which came out as a sort of blood lust that had both of them sweating fiercely and looking faint. Manners barely got out. "B-business!" Before he fell back.

I released them and smiled. "Very well. Do you have a place I can store the mountain of gold or do I just leave it outside on your front lawn?"

They both shook their heads and Lindsey had me brought to an Identification forger they had in house and after an hour plus a bit of side business making deals for magic books, scrolls and knowledge, I was shown to a cavernous underground where I could release the gold which still took a long time because there was just so damn much of it.

The Ark Maxim really had most of it and even that didn't include the pillar and bell I'd gone back for or the gold and treasure I'd gotten since joining Whitebeard's crew. All in all I left the pillar and my extra treasures in my ring in case I needed it later and traded the rest for twenty two billion after their cut and payment for services rendered.

Another ten billion went into most of their knowledge on magic which their senior partners were forced under threat to allow. They mention something about an army and I told them it sounded like a fun night out which their seers confirmed I'd slaughter with impunity if they went that route.

The last bit of magic is what cost the most, enochian rune magic. They tried to give me a slightly altered version, but I'd seen my own visions of what the real thing looked like and their seers warned them of a painful death ahead and so I got it for an easy six billion because it could hide me from even their eyes.

The exchange didn't have a contract, but more of a verbal agreement that I wouldn't play in their neck of the woods so long as they stayed away from me. In the end Manners had asked. "So where are you looking to settle down?"

I smirked. "Sunnydale. It's where I came out at anyways and it just feels right ya know?"

He frowned before nodding while I left happily. They'd transferred the money into my new accounts they'd set up for me and I had a few million on hand with a shit ton of magic books and scrolls I'd need to study now. I teleported out and back to Sunnydale before heading towards the high school school where I sensed Giles's presence with my observation haki.

When I arrived in new threads as the kids call them, he raised an eyebrow. "Where could you have possibly gotten that from?"

I smirked. "Some tailor made it for me, do you like it? I think it's softer than sea king leather but not as soft as sky island clouds."

He frowned before asking. "What?"

"I think it looks spiffy G-man."

I turned to see the other occupants of the room and understood it was a Scooby gang meeting sort of deal. Xander as Giles has told me and my memories labeled him, had been the idiot from before and now the one commenting on my wardrobe.

Buffy sighed. "Coming from the one that thinks Hawaiian shirts are all the rage that's not a compliment."

She turned and saw me before going flush and muttering. "But in this case I agree. Definitely....spiffy."

I raised an eyebrow but didn't comment and instead opted to walk in all the way. "So, now that we have my earth clothes out of the way, shall we discuss the Zou in the room?"

They looked confused and I elaborated. "The elephant as you people call it."

Giles nodded. "Ah yes, how you're getting back home."

I shook my head. "I've decided I'm not going back, at least not yet. I want to see what this reality has to offer. I'm sure I can brush up on my education as well. I'm fairly certain I got ripped off when I made my currency exchange and fake identity."

Giles frowned. "How much did you acquire?"

I shrugged. "Twelve billion and some change. Give or take a few million after I purchased everything. I found this nifty inter dimensional law office place that took all my gold and gave me this world's currency. It was originally twenty two billion, but I ran into some magic stuff and decided to buy as much of it as the demon lawyers would sell me. Even then they were reluctant until I threatened them with a painfully agonizing death. Their demon bosses signed off when I told them their armies would die if they tried to steal from me. All in all this world is interesting!"

They all looked shocked and flabbergasted now. Giles stuttered. "D-demon lawyers you say? Billions? Armies? Where exactly did you go?"

I shrugged. "Some place called Los Angeles. There's a law firm there that's called Wolfram and Hart. They were seriously creepy, but I've met creepier. They gave me a fake identity and background while putting my money in something called a bank account. I bought a bunch of books and scrolls on magic from them and they made me promise to not attack them in the future and something about staying out of LA. I'm not to clear on that part, what's an LA?"

Buffy burst out laughing at my question, but I think she was more afraid of the questions and seriously weird way I went about things than anything else. Willow, the red headed friend of hers spoke up. "LA is short for Los Angeles. They wanted you to stay out of the city."

I shrugged. "Oh well that sucks, but I guess it's fine since I got what I needed from them."

Xander asked. "Billion?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Why? Is that a lot? They charged me ten billion for all the magic stuff so I'm not clear on how your money system works."

Xander quickly asked quickly. "Can I borrow a few million for old times sake, you know, as friends who don't necessarily have to pay back friends later in life?"

I burst out laughing. "Sure sure friend, just let me figure out what a million is and I'll let you have some. First round of rum is on me!"

I summoned a barrel of rum from my ring and several mugs before passing them around. Giles frowned but I clapped his back and asked. "Are any of you musicians? We can celebrate our friendship! Oi Oi Xander, do you want to join my crew? We'll sail the seas and have all sorts of adventures!"

He looked confused while I drank my rum. Buffy sipped hers while Xander tried to down his. Willow just set hers down as did Giles. Seeing them not enjoy the partying and having no music I set my mug down and asked. "So what's the issue then? Are we not friends?"

Willow answered quickly. "N-no! I mean yes we can be friends, but alcohol is illegal for minors here."

I raised an eyebrow already knowing the answer to my next question but not caring. "What's a minor?"

Giles answered. "Someone under eighteen years old, but alcohol is only aloud for those of twenty one and older."

I snorted. "Well that's dumb. I've been drinking rum since I was old enough to shoot a pistol and swing a blade. After all if you're old enough to fight and die then you're old enough to drink and party. Or at least that's how it is in my home reality."

Seeing them all look confused I continued. "I was thirteen when I started."

They all looked flabbergasted so I sighed and put away the now illegal drinks. Before asking. "How much is it to read these books you have here in this place?"

Giles smiled. "By all means read away for free."

I grinned and used Soru with my lightning ring to enhance my reflexes and cognitive pathways. A trick I learned while training with Marco and moving at speeds beyond human capabilities. Lightning flickered around me as I moved around the library reading everything from history to business and laws.

I left the fiction for last and in a matter of minutes I was reading through the last of the books before flickering to the caged area and reading about demons and watchers. When I returned I sat down to their wide eyes and had the Vampyr book in front of me that had the main introduction on the species and the slayer as a whole.

As I finished, I turned to Xander and asked. "Do you still want the money and how many million?"

He looked flustered before answering. "Just five will do."

I nodded and patted his back before waving my hand and dropping five million in cash on the table in front of him. Turning to Giles next I asked. "Do you have any more books not here or in the cage?"

He shook his head. "Not that I'd be willing to part with no."

I nodded and put out a hundred million in a sack. "There, that should cover the the expenses and a little more as a thank you for the knowledge. I now understand that this is a library and the books are free, but I also read from your personal stock and that should at least come with compensation. Hopefully this will allow you to forgive me that trespass and maybe get more books for yourself."

He gulped while his mouth went dry and I turned to Willow. "Can you show me how to hack? I can pay you for the information and I have a pretty solid understanding on what a computer is and how to utilize it."

She went wide eyed and nodded before I turned to Buffy. "Would you care for a spar as well. I need to test my physical abilities without my rings so that I may understand my limits in this world."

She smiled. "Sure!"

I took off my rings and put them in my pocket while she got up and stretched. My aura was already heavily modified and with the new knowledge I'd been able to tweak it to stay that way. Where before I was using terms and knowledge from my visions to bluff my way through I now understood what I was bluffing with and how things were different here.

I also understood in depth what I needed to learn and where I lacked more knowledge. I'd stop by this library of Congress and all the college libraries I could find to get more knowledge. I can already tell these people were light years ahead of even the scholars of Ohara and very-very dangerous compared to the world government in terms of weapons and knowledge.

I cracked my stiff joints before getting into a Fishman Karate stance. I would use the basic moves just in case she wasn't as durable as my people. She came at me with an upper kick I deflected to the side and slammed my palm into her chest but was blocked by her crossed arms.

She returned my blow with a knee to the ribs which I easily blocked but ended up with an elbow jab to the face. Grinning as I backed up a step to lessen the blow, I brought my own fist into her sternum while she was distracted with her already heavy blow. She took the blow but leaped back to lessen the pain and prevent real damage.

I advanced with a chop block to the throat that ship dodged and did a sweeping kick to avoid and counter. My stance was sturdy though and she only ended up meeting a solid leg without any give. Aiming down I used my strongest elbow drop and hit her in the side while she blocked the damaged area as best she could and twisted away to avoid more serious injures.

The room shook a bit but Giles spoke up. "I think that's quite enough don't you two?"

I stood up and helped the now injured Buffy up while agreeing. "Yeah, thanks for that. I'd say we're both about even strength wise but I think that's more because of my haki armament being translated into a permanent physical boost than anything else. As for techniques, I now know I need to learn more martial arts and if you'd like I can leave you a book on Fishman Karate to pick up."

Giles frowned. "Fishman what?"

I explained fishmen to him and how the basics of the Karate worked while doing a small demonstration and sending a collected water drop blasting through the wall like a bullet and leaving a perfect circular hole there.

Their eyes went wide and I explained that it was only the basics of what the real martial arts offered and if you mastered it not only would you be able to swim in the deepest oceans indefinitely with no need to worry about air as you can make the water into a bubble like sphere around you, but that you'd be able to destroy even the toughest of metals my world had to offer except when used with haki which the Fishman Karate can in fact be enhanced with.

I had a captivated audience as I took out the training manual for that particular martial art and left it on the desk. Next I had Willow show me hacking and explain the basics of it. It was more like using your own personalized coding to break or trick other people's coding so that you can retrieve information or just destroy whatever information they had on or through the internet or servers.

A fascinating concept to say the least. Once I had all that knowledge at my fingertips I had little uses for a library, but it wouldn't stop me from going either way just to fill in the blanks if nothing else. I used the library's computer to see it all and learn nearly every bit of knowledge this world has in under three hours.

When I looked up only Giles was left here while the others had gone to classes. I made an email address and sent a message to Wolfram and Hart to tell them to make me a high school diploma. I hacked their servers and sent it to Holland's personal email account before taking what knowledge they themselves had that they'd been holding back. Mostly demonic languages and specialized ward schemes they utilized.

When I finished, I read through the magic books and scrolls I'd been given and used my knew knowledge to translate what I couldn't read before. I still needed to learn a few dead languages but with the computer and paying an online fee that wasn't anything difficult.

I understood magic now for the most part and how it worked. There were three separate schools of thought to them. Using personal energy to power spells, like say Harry Potter. Using nature energy around you and drawing from the planet like good and white witches ie channeling. And finally using magic from deals with higher beings or lower in the case of demons.

Borrowed magic from demons and higher beings came with it's own risk, but so did using magic in general near a hellmouth. I set a bag of cash on the desk next to Giles and noticed he was reading his own books on inter dimensional and reality travels. Chuckling, I told him. "Even if you find a way to send me back I can always come back and I truly don't mean you all any harm."

He looked flustered before saying. "Yes well one should always be careful."

I nodded and told him. "Here's Willow's payment for the hacking tips. Now, as for you-"

I waved a hand and put everything I had on demons and magic in a very large stack. I kept the advanced and truly dark stuff with me, but the rest he was free to scan through and keep. "A small gift for the knowledge you've given me. Most of it is on magic and demons but there's some archaic rituals and the like inside there. There's also a bit about the hellmouth and ways to open it or keep it shut depending on your needs as well as information on possible threats this place might attract."

He looked excited and I smiled. "Thank you Giles, may we meet as friends once more in time."

I gave him a customary bow in great fullness before leaving via teleportation to the edge of town. I'd discovered this place had it's own uniqueness to it but that I truly no longer wished to interfere so directly for a while. I headed East using lightning speeds after that and traveled via Flash like speeds.

I reached Boston in half an hour after stopping by libraries along the way and bought a motel room for long stays before going and buying a car. I was impartial to the Impala class cars because of my memories of two brothers riding in one. After showing my license and getting the new black impala registered, I took it to a shop and modified it while paying for discretion, parts and tools.

I'd added a better set of wheels, a new engine and a full repair and overhaul for it to ensure it was in the best condition possible. I also added runes of all sorts and began channeling magic into it from my lightning ring. It worked like a charm!

Now my car was invisible to those pesky higher and lower beings and it's durability was better than a train's. After leaving there and heading to a tattoo parlor to get some ink done, which took forever, I'd spent sixteen hours with three different tattoo artists doing runic work on me in invisible ink under a black light.

But with some serious time and money put into it, I was finally free from those that would try to peek at me and my business. Two days later I ran into a south Boston girl who was getting hassled by some thugs. She'd put up a fight before they tried to take her but I interfered and dropped them into twitching messes like they'd been hit with a stun gun.

Holding my hand out, I helped her up. "Hello, I'm Damien, what's your name?"

She looked at me gauging whether I was to be trusted or not before taking my had. "The names Faith. Thanks for that, but I'd have kicked their asses anyways."

I shrugged. "Sure, no problem. So, you want to get a bite to eat? My treat."

She shrugged before grabbing a stake and dusting the gang. I raised an eyebrow. (So they were vampires. Huh, no wonder I couldn't sense them with my observation haki. They weren't alive. Though I did hear them so I guess that's fine.)

She took out a piece of gum and asked. "So we going to eat or what?"

I chuckled and agreed, heading to the nearest diner. There we ate like animals which suited us I guess. I'd never been one for table manners and it was really great food. After the decent meal she asked. "So what's it you want? You looking to get some action or what?"

I raised an eyebrow and sighed. "No, I'm not looking to get some action though if you're looking for a serious committed relationship I'm game."

She froze for a minute before shaking her head. "Whatever man. Thanks for the grub."

I nodded. "Do you have a place to stay or-?"

She stiffened up and decided while watching me. "I got a crash pad and I ain't looking for handouts."

I nodded. "Alright, in that case would you like to learn how to fight properly then? I'm a decent fighter myself and I know a bit of magic."

Her eyes went wide as I continued. "I also know you're a potential slayer and that those goons were vampires. I could help you train and if you want, give you a slight edge in the protections and magic department."
