章 42: 42. “I’ll take care of her.”

It's already midnight and we decided to stay on the veranda for a while. We sat on the couch with a comforter that's keeping us warm as we look up at the stars and the bright moon in the sky. The only sound you can hear is the cold breeze and our heavy breathes. His arms are wrapped around me and my head is resting on his chest. It feels better than the first time he held me in my bed. Maybe because now I am officially his, even just for a while. 

"Who is she then?" I asked to break the silence between us thinking if we stay silent for another minute, I will fall asleep and will have nightmares, or I might wake up and it's all just a dream. 

"Veronica?" she asked. 

"Uh-huh." I verbally nod.

"She's my ex-fiancée, that's true. She's very close to my family and friends. We went to high school together with Steve and Beth, Steve's longtime girlfriend." he replied. He put a strand of hair behind my ear.
