The jealousy that Taylor had pushed down earlier hit her like a punch to the belly, painful and quick. It was all so unfair. She was supposed to be going into battle with the Fabula with her best friend by her side, and instead her supposed best friend was flirting with Ulysses. Ulysses the dark fairy who, Taylor now had to admit to herself, she had secretly hoped had liked her the best. But he had never swung happily on her hair or smiled up into her face and called her beautiful, as he was now doing with Amy. Besides, whenever Ulysses was around, Amy paid Taylor hardly any attention at all.
