Everyone in the city was talking about the daylight murder that happened last that day. The fact that the murderer could easily kill an Earth Rank cultivator with ease brought no amount of peace to them. The major families had already gotten news that the person was a new hired hand for the Gayne family. They wondered how such a small family could get help from such a cultivator but never got the answer. Also, they came to know that the armour and battle-axe he had were all stolen violently. They knew the two were good equipments to have but now they were in the hands of a cold blooded killer.
The cityguards begrudgingly took the corpses off the street and went to burn them. The people wanted justice for the woman and girl but none of them were brave enough to face the one who murdered them. So, they just sent in a report as usual. The following day, Gayne family was visited by the city's lord. He was a large man of pure muscle and behind him were four armoured soldiers, one of them a Leutinent (A/N:Hard word. Don't know if that's the spelling.)
"I heard you got a new hired helper," the city lord said to the family head who was nervously drinking his tea.
"Not hired hand, he decided to provide us with his services. I did not have the say in the matter," the family head answered.
"So he has you hostage?" the army Leutinent asked.
"He is here to pay a debt for a friend. It was either this or slaughtering all of us," family head said, defensively. City Lord looked at the Leutinent who nodded.
"I will be straight with you. The whole city knows you had a bone to pick with Syrius. They will know later that you have this Golden Armoured cultivator in your service and soon, the big families will start using the civilians against you. Normally, we do not meddle with these kind of affiars but the girl your muscle killed was quite beloved by people. She was a love interest to my boy too and he is pressurising me to kill him. But, I will cut a deal with you. You hand over the man to us and we will make all of us happy, he gets to work for us and your family survives," the City Lord said. Suddenly, a man ran in all bloody and fell to the City Lord's legs.
"My Lord, someone is attacking your home," he panted. The City Lord got up and lifted the man up by his collar.
"Who is he? Did he get my family?" he growled at the poor man who just shook his head.
"I don't know. He wore a golden armour and had a battle-axe and long sword as his weapons. He managed to cut off my arm when I was running to tell you the news and slowed me down. I don't know if he got your family by now," the man said. The City Lord threw him down and turned to the Family head.
"You sent him to attack my family?" he growled, unsheathing his sword. The family head was already shaking in his boots. He could not match up to the City Lord who was already in Sky Rank peak stage. The man was already an Overlord of a province and as all Sky Rank cultivators, his Qi was blue, his strength was immense, his speed too and he could use two elements to attack at the same time which was impossible for any rank below. Also, he could fly thus the name Sky Rank. The city lord decided not to waste any more time and flew over to his house.
Once there, he found the whole place in ruins. Bodies of his soldiers and servants were strewn all over, some in pieces and some just didn't have any pieces left. The buildings of his compound were in ruins. He could smell blood and smoke all over. He quickly ran to his ruined main house. A broken wall blocked his way so he threw it out of the way. Right there in front of him, he saw the golden armoured cultivator sitting on his chair, his left hand holding his extremely perfect Mithraine long sword by its guard. Next to him was his chained up wife, two daughters, one son, father and mother. They were all crying then when they saw him, hope bloomed in their hearts. They looked at him hopefully.
"What kind of person leaves his family unattended just so that they can enslave another person?" Nicklaus asked him.
"How did you know?" the City Lord asked him.
"I have very sharp ears. Once I heard you were in that weasel's compound, I knew you were trying to rope me in. I couldn't have that so I did something that could bring you over,"
"We can discuss this without harming anyone," the City Lord said. Nicklaus just laughed and turned to the boy who was staring at him venomously.
"I heard it was your boy who asked you to kill me for killing his little girlfriend," Nicklaus said, got hold of the boy's face and lifted him off the floor as the boy thrashed and kicked. His mother tried to pull him away from Nicklaus but earned a slap that sent her hurtling away, only been stopped by the chains. The city lord gritted his teeth angrily.
"Do you want me to kill myself? I will do it just don't kill them," he shouted. Nicklaus looked at him then laughed in ridicule.
"No. I am here to build a killing machine," he answered him. Nicklaus let go of the boy then pointed his sword at his family. A jet of flames suddenly spew from the sword's tip and started consuming everyone but him and his father. The two watched in horror when they started screaming in pain as the fire consumed them glottonously. City Lord Bryan roared in anguish and attacked Nicklaus in a flurry of slashes.
Nicklaus countered the slashes with one hand on his sword quite easily. He let the distraught father let out his emotions on his swings and give his son with hopes of a revenge but as time went, the two realised this person was toying with them.
Bryan's sword was at the verge of destruction for the Mithraine long sword was nigh indestructible. Suddenly, lightning hit him from above, paralysing him as his whole body shut down. The boy watched in horror as the golden armoured cultivator stabbed his father through his heart, killing him. He fell to his butt and started crying. Nicklaus turned towards him and with a single slash, the boy's chains were cut. Nicklaus squatted next to him and ruffed up his hair like a friendly uncle.
"That look on your face, I had the same look once. But the people who did that to me really did kill me. But, I rose from the grave and here I am now, becoming stronger and stronger so that I can kill them. I want you to become strong, strong enough to kill gods. When you feel you can take down a universe, come find me. I will be waiting to see if your revenge will be worth my time," Nicklaus said then got hold of the boy by his neck. "Just to make sure your revenge is as venomous as possible, I will take something from you." His left hand the proceeded to gouge out the left eye of the screaming boy.
"You will get this back when you kill me," Nicklaus said and let go of the boy. He wrapped the eye with a piece of clothes he cut from his mother, kept it away then flew away. The boy was left unconscious, bleeding out.
Ten minutes later, the leutinent came into the compound panting. He just ran as fast as he could with his men to the place. He looked in shock and fear at the deaths and destruction left behind. He then saw the charred body of the City Lord. There, he saw all the other charred bodies and just fell to his knees in anguish. The reason he was willing to help the City Lord was because he was in love with his first borne daughter. But now, he was sure he was looking at her corpse. He then noticed the boy who was breathing erratically. He went next to him and first thing he saw was the missing eye.
"Bastard, can't even spare a kid!" he cursed at the golden armoured cultivator then called for his men. "We need to take him for medical care. We will bury the corpses later."
Nicklaus was looking at the sunset, his heart heavy. He knew he just ruined the boy's life but he just had to. He could feel the boy's potential, almost equal to Demicruses. Although not at the same level, his potential could make the boy go serious on him. He was going to fuel that boy into a full blown MC driven with anger and revenge. His potential will make him stronger than anyone in the same class. As he read, MCs grow strong when driven by revenge and he needed all the martial arts and powers he got inheritances, forbidden tombs and others that MCs luckily get. That will be his plan C when fighting the Author.
The city was in turmoil now. Everyone got news that the golden armoured cultivator had killed everyone in the city lord's mansion including the city lord and his family, save one. They heard he had killed the boy's family gruesomely in front of him then proceeded to took his eye out, leaving the boy to bleed out. The civilians were outraged by this but when they saw the target of their outrage walking in the street that morning, none of them dared to say a word.
Nicklaus just looked at them and forgot their faces when he lost sight of them. The object of his target today was a mount. He came to know the place had pretty good mounts and what he wanted was a Jaiylay. It was a beasts that had the body of a horse, head of an eagle but wings of a pheanix. Yes, its wings were burning. Well, it had a bloodline of a pheanix so it was quite beautiful. He came to know the place had caught one when it was injured and now they were selling it like a hot potato before it could recover. Jaiylays are quite fierce and are even fiercer when forced to captivity.
The large families were doing their best to get this beast to their family but the price was actually quite astronomical. So they had laid low and decided to pace for time. What they did not expect was the talk of the city and their ire to have eyes on the beast. Nicklaus got into the place the beast was being sold and everyone became quiet. Nicklaus walked over to the keeper who almost peed himself.
"I'm here for the Jaiylay," he said. The keeper then pointed nervously at a fat man who almost cursed him. Nicklaus looked at the man who quickly displayed a smile.
"I am the manager of this establishment. If you are interested in the Jaiylay then I am happy to take you to it. Though I have to warn you, the price is quite steep," the man said. Nicklaus just grunted. The manager felt a sense of incoming loss but still took Nicklaus to the Jaiylay. The beast saw him and started whimpering submissively. Nicklaus felt his Dragon Force spike a bit and knew the beast was afraid of his dragonlike aura. The manager just thought it was afraid of his cruel heart and grew more afraid.
"I will take her," Nicklaus said then removed a plate from his purse. "This is a space array. It can provide long distance teleportation. I would give you two to make the the set complete but she is not that expensive." The manager was flabbergasted when he heard that that he almost knelt in worship. Someone having a long distance array was quite wealthy that only large sects own them. But with only one array it was quite the incomplete deal.
"Customer, we have a weapon made by the Demon Slayer Jabel here with us. Perhaps you might be interested in it," the manager said. Nicklaus was now interested. Demon Slayer Jabel was a person of myth. His tales are told by generations from the time he ascended and became a god! His bow was a myth too and now this fatty was telling him that he had the bow from legends?
"I will be the judge of that," Nicklaus told him.
The manager nodded then led him back into the store. He led him past the second floor into the restricted area. There, he saw weapons and armours that he could only see in fantasy games. There was a katana surrounded by death and Soul law locked in a glass display. A Long Sword covered with red smoking scales with an eye on it's guard and a cloak covered with runes levetating. The deeper they went, the more he felt like just robbing the place. There was another golden armour that was covered with runes that just attracted the Strength Law and Yang law basically making the wearer be like superman when he absorbs sunlight to be stronger. Finally, they reached the bow. It was quite the large bow that was well made. He could feel a strange law inside so he opened his Asura eyes.
Suddenly, he felt the rush of laws just slamming into his body, especially the laws he had on the last time. The manager watched in surprise and worry as runes descended into Nicklaus's body endlessly for two minutes before the phenomenon finally stopped. Nicklaus felt strangely complete. The old laws were firmly etched into his soul and heart not like last time where they were etched in his brain. They were like apologizing to him for leaving. He also felt additional laws like Mind Law and Nirvana Law. He did not feel the Nothingness and Everythingness law but he did not mind. From the way he remembered, that law was starting to make him lose his mind. Just the thought of having to bend reality to one's likeness could do a number to the brain.
"Are you alright, customer?" the manager asked him. Nicklaus looked at him and nodded.
"Everything is just fine," Nicklaus answered then used his Mind Law on him. He made him think everything in this floor had been sold off long ago and it was an empty room. He then made him go downstairs. Once he was gone, Nicklaus looked around and smiled.
"Time for shopping," he said. First, he equipped the golden armour and felt his two laws strengthening even more. His Titan strength was now on godly steroids. He then took the long sword, equipped it to his back, the katana that was two and a half metres long was put on his waist.
He then looked around and found a spatial ring that had a space as large as planet larger than Jupiter! He put it on his forehead finger inside his armour then looked for more. The cape he saw was equipped at once and it hid the two weapons in his back perfectly almost as if they were in a separate dimension but still on his back. He looked around more but none of the other things interested him enough to take them. But he did find a pheanix feather and from there, he saw the Nirvana Law he got.
For the final object, he turned to the bow. The bow had the Mind Law. He picked it up and immediately, he felt something trying to burrow into his subconscious. But his understanding of this law was too deep for this strange consciousness so he exelled it out. Then there in front of him stood a soul of a demon glaring at him.
"What kind of freak are you? I spent two hundred thousand years understanding the mind law inside the bow and now a fifteen year old can expelled me out?"
"You can tell my age by looking at my soul, quite impressive. Though not enough to make you stay alive," Nicklaus said and started to destroy the demon's soul. The demon felt it and screamed out loud, wanting him to stop.
"Wait, wait. I have good news to tell you. I know where Demon Slayer Jabel kept his legacy. He is waiting for someone to come claim it since he ascended," it cried out hastily. Nicklaus scowled at this.
"You know where it is, huh? And you want to make a deal with me to let you go and you will take me there?"
"I do not like it more than you do. I was a Demon Immortal when he killed me with this bow and I vowed to never let anyone have it but now I am far outclassed. I will pay for my life by taking you there if the demons have not found and destroyed it yet."
Demon Slayer Jabel was a well renowned demon slayer. Back then, demons were on a rampage all across the world and other races were their food. Humans had many heroes back then but none like Demon Slayer Jabel. He watched as demons killed his family members and vowed revenge. From there, it was bad news bear for the demon race. He killed almost six hundred billion demons, making them almost go extinct that they had to go to a harsh dimension called Abyss so that they can survive and recover. Until now, demons do not dare go on a full scale invasion to this world because of him and any possible successors. Also, when they do attack a place, they never leave any bodies. They eat them all just to make sure no other Demon Slayer Jabel appears again. Nicklaus had read this from the Sect's library when he had his free time. He smiled at the demon soul.
"You will lead to the legacy but you will not lead me," he said then activated his Mind and Soul Laws.
Ten minutes later, Nicklaus came down and met the manager who looked at him in surprise. He recognized the armour he had on but then shrugged it off. He thought he might have bought it from somewhere else, he did not remember Nicklaus didn't have this armour on earlier. He could not see the bow strapped on Nicklaus's hip for it was hidden by the cloak to the subdimension.
"Well, I am satisfied by your products. Here, this is the second array plate. If you need more just send more good stuffs to me," Nicklaus said and gave him the array plate. He went to the Jaiylay and patted it's head caringly.
"I am your new partner. I will call you Lagertha after the most badass shield maiden of the Viking TV show," he told her then added some Dragon force in her. Then injury she had just healed suddenly and she was good as new. She jumped around happily before snuggling into his hands. He patted her beak then lead her out of the building. Once out, he hoped onto her back then she spread her flaming wings and they took off to the sky.
Damien was having the nightmare of the golden armoured man slaughtering his family for the uptenth time. This time, he could feel the heat off the flames the man burned his family with and he burned with them. Suddenly, the dream shattered and he found himself staring at a four metres tall demon.
"Your bitterness is strong and the thirst for revenge has attracted me from my slumber," the demon told him.
"Who are you? Are you here to give me a deal for my soul?" Damien asked him.
"As tempting as that is I am afraid I have to pass. I am a soul from the Demon Slayer Jabel's bow. I felt the aura of my master and that led me to you. At first I thought my master reincarnated as you but your soul is not his so I checked your mind and felt my master's rage and revenge inside. You have the very quality to be his successor," the demon said. Damien had heard of this demon slayer and now he was being told he would be his successor. He was quite emotional about it.
"Will it make me strong enough to kill gods?" he asked the demon.
"I saw in your mind what that monster said to you and yes, it will make you strong enough to make gods bow down to you as my master ascended to become a god and now he is causing waves there." Damien's hope was revived once again when he heard this. He clenched his fists tightly as his eyes shone with resolute.
"Okay, make me strong enough to destroy my enemies," he said
