"Are you saying this because my daughter-in-law does not want to be filial to me? If so, just tell me. I refuse to stay here and suffer in silence. I can always move out."
Aunt Li's face darkened when she heard that.
"Mom, are you serious? It's fine if you don't want to stay here. I can pack your stuff for you and we can leave right away."
Sometimes, it was easier for Aunt Li to speak up to Grandma Li as a daughter. Wu Tong was a daughter-in-law, after all; her status was different from her daughter's.
"Are you still my daughter? Why are you helping an outsider?"
With the last statement, Grandma Li was insinuating that Wu Tong was not part of the family.
