章 251: Expressing gratitude

"You are still in danger, Calix," Alastair revealed his condition to the young man and observed him with pity. The young knight's father's actions had pushed him to his deathbed and now he was suffering greatly.

Calix stayed silent for a few moments as he stared at his King. His thoughts were all messed up and he could not comprehend anything. But oddly, the King's words did not affect him much. He had already prepared himself to brace his death before the angel cured him.

He just let out a small sigh and lowered his eyes, his anguish returning him for a moment. But the next instant, he shook his gloomy emotions away and closed his eyes.

"I understand, Your Highness. I..." He swallowed his saliva and stopped himself from tearing up. The small ray of hope he had seen after he was cured vanished even before he could enjoy it. Yet, he was not that disheartened by it, other than for his mother who was oblivious to all that had happened to him.
