"Speak the truth, or you will be punished." Alastair took a step towards Lillian, and the girl scurried back in fear. "Choose your option well." He did not threaten her, for he did not believe in them. He imposed his decision on her, giving her no choice. He had trapped Lillian in his words, and the maid was stuck as to what to do.

Lying was not an option as that would only get her punished, and Lillian had no idea what her punishment would be.
