章 112: Vengeance

-The Church.-

The people inside the Church were split into two sides. Those that still believed in their faith and those that wanted to get out of this hellhole.

While all of them were forced to believe that they were protected being this invisible being and at the same time worshipped it, they didn't want to stay, knowing that there was still a world to live out there. Both sides were at each other's throats, and Rose took advantage of it.

"Why don't you tell them the truth?" urged Rose. Christabella was holding one of the pictures in her hand, scrutinizing it. Although it wasn't Silent Hill, it had the same atmosphere that Silent Hill carried before the apocalypse that she proclaimed.

"Tell them the truth that you deny, even to yourself. There was no apocalypse! You burn in the fire that you started and nothing can save you," remarked Rose. She turned around toward the crowd who still had a strong belief in their faith and continued, "'cause you're already damned!"

Christabella couldn't take it anymore. She crumpled the picture and pointed toward Rose while roaring, "Take her! Burn. Burn her as a witch!"

As if in trance, her followers charged toward Rose, trying to take a hold of her while madly chanting, "Burn her. Burn her!"

However, the other side of the crowd didn't let them come closer as they stood between them and Rose.

Instead of getting scared or afraid, Rose actually moved closer to Christabella. There was a fire in her eyes. She will see it to the end.

"Burn me? As you asked. Burn everything you're afraid of. Burn everything you can't control." Rose turned toward the still enraged believers and continued her one-sided speech. "This woman used your fear to control you, she led you to burn Alessa Gillespie. She led you to burn an innocent child. But you will not... deny your guilt, and you cannot deny her pain."

Christabella tried to gain her calmness, however, the vein on her forehead betrayed her expression. Gritting her teeth, she muttered, "That child was sin incarnate."

"No." denied Rose. "It was you who sinned. You darken the heart of innocents. and now you cower in the face of Alessa's revenge."

As the final strand keeping her together snapped, she turned to those who still revered her. "Heresy. Burn her. Burn HER!"

Too bad, her lacking resistance to Rose's rant only led those who still had faith in her and her God to grow the doubt in their heart further. That was why, when they wanted to capture Rose, they didn't exert so much effort, unlike before.

"YOUR. FAITH. BRINGS. DEATH!" mouthed Rose, word by word. Now, she and Christabella was just arm's length from each other. And Rose, to put the cherry on the top, whispered the last two sentences to snap Christabella's thinning composure. "You are alone in this Limbo. And God... is not here."

Christabella, losing the equanimity she took a pride in, pulled a knife from her sleeve, and without waste, stabbed Rose's heart. Those who watched gasped in disbelief. Their priest, who always preached about clarity, just stabbed someone.

Rose was huffing for air before dropping to the floor. Her strength started diminishing, and her finger was going numb.

"Mommy!" yelled Sharon, striding toward the bleeding Rose. However, she was stopped by Charles Johnson before anyone realized she was there. Glancing toward Cybil who was pointing a gun at him, he gave her a nod and gestured for her to follow him. He led them toward the second floor, where it was safer from anyone's reach.

Christabella, realizing what she had done, dropped the bloody knife while holding her hand in the air. She turned toward her dwindling followers only to be met with a judging gaze from them. They were looking at her weirdly.

"She... was a blasphemer." She tried to defend her action but was met with a stale response.

From the moment they met her, Christabella was not the type of someone who could lose her composure, no matter what happen. She was their leader. Firm and dignified. A model citizen.

Looking at her now, taking the act, madness could be seen shrouding her eyes. She was furious, she was scared. She was doubting her action, she was doubting her god.

For the first time, a question wandered in their mind. If their God truly loves them, why would God trap them in here, and let those outsides crawl the earth freely?

"No... no... it was her... she let her inside..." Christabella glanced here and there, waiting for someone to back her up, however, she was met with the cold gaze of the cult members. Those that still back her could only be counted by hand. They were those that could not be saved anymore. Basically, neck-deep in the abyss.

It was over.

From the edge of the bloody blade, a single drop of blood fell to the wood flooring, immediately corrupting it.

Darkness was coming.

The first thing the cultists noticed was the sudden weight in the atmosphere. Christabella was the first one to notice the light inside of the Church flickered. They heard screeching sounds coming from the walls as if hundreds of doors were being opened slowly, eerily. They covered their ears, but the sound could still pierce their eardrums. And then ... poof... when the next moment came, darkness fell, shrouding the walls and then everything else.

Although they were fearful of what was coming, their calm reaction could still be commended. The people in the church turned every light inside, on. Not even a single candle was unlit. They were sticking to each other. Afraid of what lay ahead, afraid of what was coming.

Rose, who seemed to be on the verge of dying, already crawled to the center of the Church using the little bit of strength left in her. In the middle of the Church was a circle, short of a pit. The symbol of their faith was etched on it in the shape of Ψ.

The blood dripping from her stomach started to thicken and turned darker. It was streaming like a waterfall, flowing in the center of the circle, corrupting everything, turning everything into ashes, puncturing a huge hole on the floor.

"What have you done...?" implored Christabella. Her voice was weak. "You brought darkness within you."

A second later, Rose finally gained her strength. The wound on her left chest was enclosed immediately. It was as if there was nothing before. However, she was too preoccupied to bother with her regeneration at the moment, as something else was coming from under the hole on the floor.

With the background of a witch being burned on a stake on the wall opposing her, Rose stood up to face everyone, especially Christabella. Another screeching sound fill the air, however, it was not the sound of a door. It was something much worse. The Barbed wires were the first thing coming out of the hole. Not one, not two, but hundreds of them.

And then, she too finally came. Alessa Gillespie. Laying on her bed, penetrating each and every one of them with her cold gaze. They were all doomed now.

Rose looked around, searching for her daughters and Eve. She saw Charles leading Cybil and the girls upstairs and then ran toward them. Now that everything was done, it was Alessa's turn.

Meanwhile, climbing a ladder, Dark Alessa was coming as well. But this time, she was not here for petty revenge.

The people were crowding the Church doors. However, the entrance couldn't be opened, no matter what they did. In the end, they could only shove each other, scurrying to safety. Where Alessa couldn't see. Too bad, her vision was still as healthy as when she was a kid.

Christabella could only watch with mouth agape. Her end has come, and it was a nasty one at that.

As if having a mind of their own, the barbed wire wrapped both of Christabella's wrists. What made it even worse was, that they were still moving even when her wrists were bleeding profusely, scraping her flesh apart like mincemeat.

A blood-churning scream came out of her mouth. Painful was an understatement. Too bad for her, it didn't come even a bit close to what was coming for her.

The barbed wire brought her body toward Alessa's eye level. When she was dangling, up in the air, more barbed wires snatched her two legs, wrapping around her ankle, up to her knees.

While this was going on, the other barbed wires spread to attack the cult members, taking them one by one. One was hanging in the air, while barbed wires were revolving around his neck. Another got their eyes stabbed repeatedly as the barbed wires moved inside his head through his eye socket.

"O' Lord. Give me the strength to stay pure." prayed Christabella. Even until the end, she still believed in her false God.

Ironically, Alessa gave her one of the worst retribution for her. The barbed wires holding her leg, spread her leg apart while multiple barbed wires move in unison under her robe into her vagina.

They kept going up until they came out of her mouth, neck, shoulder, and chest, eventually splitting her apart in two halves. Rain of blood and guts fell on the floor as Dark Alessa danced and hummed beneath her joyfully.

Rose, who finally caught up with her daughter was grabbed by the neck from behind her. He was the long-haired man, one of Christabella's avid followers and close confidante, who was, until the very end, still believed in her. He was a lost cause.

Multiple barbed wires suddenly moved toward him wrapping around his body, covering him. Not even a strand of hair could be seen from the lump of irons. An agonizing scream came out of him before he was turned into mincemeat. Blood splashes on Rose's face and body, turning her clothes red, the color of a real rose. Alessa smiled at her before returning to give the others their overdue punishment.

"Mommy!" yelled Sharon, running toward her mother.

Rose welcomed her with a hug. At the corner of the second floor's balcony Cybil, Eve, and an old man she didn't recognize were hunching together.

She realized that Sharon was shaking, frightened with everything that was currently happening.

She brought her near the group and whispered to Sharon's ear, "Close your eyes. Everything is fine. this is the end."

Over and over again to calm her.

Step... step...

It was then that Dark Alessa, climbing the ladder, found them. She ignored the old man and Eve. She also ignored Cybil's warning and walked toward Sharon.

She was her real objective. And it was to be whole once more, inside the body of the living, out of this world of endless fog.

Rose clutched her daughter even tighter. She knew what Dark Alessa wanted. She saw it, during her trance, during the vision of Alessa's past. It was subtle, but she felt it. Dark Alessa intends to take over Sharon's consciousness.

"Close your eyes... close your eyes... it's just a dream... it's just a dream." muttered Rose, covering her daughter's eyes with her hand.

And then, when Dark Alessa was just a step away from her, Sharon opened her eyes.

"Not on my watch, bitch!"

A hand grabbed the back of Dark Alessa's face and slammed it on the floor before dragging her away, carving a long broken gap on the floor.

Boom!

The bottom of Alessa's bed exploded as a majestic creature flew from the hole and floated in the air. With a flick of a wrist, the newcomer threw her back into the hole as the whit sent Hyper Beam and blasted Dark Alessa back into wherever she came from.

Bhoooom!

He wore black metallic armors and a glass full-helmet. He also wore a white trench coat to cover the armors underneath. On his right arm, a pulsating demonic arm brought discomfort to anyone who see it. He also wore a pair of rollerblade that was pretty familiar in the eyes of Eve, Sharon, and Rose.

The mysterious helper sighed in relief and muttered, "I'm glad we made it in time."

He turned toward the white creature in the air and started to recall what happened a few minutes ago.

===°°°===

"I choose you, Arceus!"

Light flashed from the pocket of my coat and came out in front of me. I could feel the connection between me and the creature. It couldn't speak, but I could understand it telepathically.

"Arceus! Uhh, use protect! Or whatever moves you have that could save us!"

I haven't watched Pokemon for a long time, even though Pokemon cards and the game existed in this world. Arceus was introduced in Gen 4. Pokemon Gen 3 hadn't yet even been introduced yet, but the first game should be out next year though.

Arceus floating in the air formed a stance and prepared a move.

Arceus is an equine being similar to a Qilin. Its body color is white with a gray, vertically-striated underside, the pattern of which has similar recurrences on the underside of Arceus's mane, tail, and face, and Arceus's pointed feet are tipped with gold hooves.

"Oooh... is it going to do a big move? Maybe Judgment? Or something spectacular!?" I wondered.

Suddenly, Arceus charged toward the flaming javelin and used its body as a shield. A direct contact.

"It choose to kill itself just a second after it was born!" I yelled in disbelief.

BOOOOM!!

It was spectacular indeed. Thick smoke covered my surroundings as I lost vision of Arceus's body.

"Did... did it die?" I mumbled. Standing at the edge of the hole, I couldn't see any trace of it.

"My... my first Pokemon. It died protecting me. I'm a bad trainer. Arceuuuuuuss...!" I yelled, dramatically.

However, contrary to what I expected, Arceus survived the impact. A long bar containing Arceus's current HP appeared in front of me.

<Arceus - Normal Type>

<HP: 1 / 215>

<Item equipped: Focus Sash>

---

<Focus Sash>

<An item to be held by a Pokémon. If the Pokémon has full HP, it will endure a potential KO attack with 1 HP. The item then disappears.>

---

'Thank you, God. At least you are kind enough to give me a second chance.'

I sent a prayer to the sky and commanded Arceus to take me to the top and escape before the smoke subsided and Mephisto realized what was happening.

Thankfully, nothing happened and we manage to escape the predicament. Once we took a break for a moment at some random stairs that led to nowhere, I looked at Arceus's status.

What should I do with him now? Arceus was severely wounded, the focus sash only help it survive with one HP. But that was it, any more than this would KO him, or worst, kill the poor creature.

"Oh right, aren't I have a few of those left in my inventory?" I mumbled.

I took out a health potion and fed it to Arceus. Thankfully it worked just fine, and he didn't resist or avoid the potion.

<Arceus - Normal Type>

<HP: 33/215>

I fed him three more to him and he's back at full HP. I was kinda worried if anything happen later, so I just fed him to full health, just in case.

"It's been a long time since I've done this. Humph!"

Lights covered my body and my old armors were equipped my whole body. It has been a really long time. I missed these guys.

The Stark Grade-A Armors, complete with a full glass helmet, reminded me of Red Hood from DC Universe, but it was painted black, and it had no need for eye sockets as it was made from tinted glass.

I swapped the boots with my AT and everything was ready. After summoning two Desert Eagles and putting them in the holsters at the back of my waist, I changed the color of my Coat to white. I was barely unrecognizable.

I muttered, "Mass Reinforce."

'This... this is it... I've never felt this free before.'

I turned toward Arceus, whose color code resembled mine now, and said, "Let's race, Arcy."
