If earlier I was faking on hating Dante, now I'm genuinely, deep from my heart, hated him to the guts. Who the hell would throw a stranger's kid he first time they met? Well, I would... sometimes... but I never did it. This made me sure that Dante wasn't right in his mind.
The problem now was how am I gonna land? I was thinking about this while crossing my leg and holding my chin mid-air.
Since it was on top of the genmas army, every one of them that was on top of the buildings saw my flying... I mean falling body. They were excited to see me and rushed toward me from one building to another. Once I got closer, they jumped one by one in the line of my falling trajectory, brandishing their weapon.
Owhh.. how kind of them to be my dead cushion. I pulled out two Beretta M9 from my spatial pocket. My first victim was a zombie ninja. It used the Katar on its hand to stab right on my head, but I tilted my head to the left. Since the speed of my falling body was fast, I took advantage of it and delivered a knee kick to its chest.
The Superhuman Strength truly live up to its name, I heard the shattered ribs and the Genma ninja smashed toward the road. It fell on top of another Genma.
Now that my body's momentum was slowed down, I become an easy target for the others. Two zombie samurai jumped with an open arm. They wanted to drag my body to the ground, but I already spread both of my arms and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
With two shots each to the head, they turned limp. Some zombie archers shot their arrows, planning to riddle my body with it, but I reached the earlier two zombie samurai's body to use a shield. My body started falling toward the ground.
A Genma ogre was waiting under me, holding a broadsword. It swings the sword from upward to meet my body. Without wasting time I kicked the bodies I held and to evade the swinging sword. Both bodies were split in half.
After rolled twice on the ground to lessen the falling impact. While on my knees, I looked around to see only genmas on my vision. They charged at me from every single side.
This is bad.
I had to keep moving. If I got surrounded, that would be the end of me. I ran met my enemy while keep shooting toward those that were closer.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
I jumped and kicked a rolling Genma armadillo, sending it like a bowling ball onto the pins, hitting a strike. One of the spikes stabbed my foot, but it didn't stop me from evading a huge hammer on top of my head. I rolled while dropping a hand grenade on where I was standing before. It exploded when the grenade and the hammer met, blasting the latter backward smashing the genmas behind the Ogre that held it.
I slide under a truck, swapped my empty gun with two P90s, and started shooting on the other side. Apparently, this side of the truck was merrier in number, I couldn't stop to curse my luck, but with two sub-machine guns on hand, it was doable. The zombie archer didn't stop their shooting, so I had to get them first. Luckily they stood on a visible platform, so finishing them all didn't take too long.
The Genma ogre from before that held the broadsword, slashed the truck with it in half, opening the way to me. It successfully got my attention, as I look back, I missed the chance to evade an attack. A Genma ninja flew from one of the walls and brandished its katar on to my face. When it almost reached me, a sword fell from the sky and impaled the Genma's body.
I looked back and saw the sword, Rebellion, behind me, the Genma ninja was still moving.
"Are you feeling it now, kid? The thrill of battle!" Dante landed on top Rebellion's handle, thrusting it deeper to the ground. The zombie ninja stopped moving.
"Shut up and just do your thing!" I was annoyed by his easy-going attitude. His battle experience was so much higher than me, that's why I couldn't afford to joke around like him, yet.
He smiled and took out Ebony and Ivory, both of them are Dante's trademark pair of personally customized, semi-automatic pistols, designed to rapidly fire bullets instilled with his demonic power. As soon as I saw them, I gave it a reinforce buff.
He flipped and twisted on the air while shooting, The genmas around fell one by one. Dante noticed something different with his guns once he started shooting. He asked, "Kid, is that your power?"
"Fascinating isn't it?" I smirked. At least, this is something that I could be proud of in front of him.
"Good. Let's test it then." He dashed toward the Genma ogre that was holding the broadsword while reloading. The ogre smashed it swords downward but Dante dodged to the side and returned with a barrage of bullets.
Meanwhile, I pulled the embedded Rebellion from the ground and buffed it. I switched my grip and took a javelin thrower posture, aiming for Dante's her... I mean the ogre's head and release it like an arrow.
The sword pierced its head and the Genma fell to the ground. Dante put the handguns back to the holsters behind his waist. He picks up Rebellion and observed the change in the sword.
"Interesting. It actually got sharper and looked like its coated with something." Dante's observations were on point. He seemed to be able to see the dim light covering the sword.
*Clap clap clap
"What a magnificent theatrical show." We turned our head toward the voice. The Genma on the road split and revealed Ranmaru Mori and Marcellus walking side by side. The huge Marcellus dwarfed Ranmaru in size, but it didn't mean Ranmaru was any weaker.
It has to be noted that Marcellus was revived multiple times and with each revival, he was getting weaker than the previous version.
Ranmaru continued his monolog, "I was wondering why it took so long to slaughter some weak humans. It turned a red and blue monkey was uselessly meddling with my invasion. How dare you stand in my Lord's way. Do you know how ha..."
"Shut up, woman. I don't need your preaching." Dante interrupted. He was clearly being impatient to test his sword.
"Woman? How rude of you, pheasant! The noble me was born a true man. Do you have a better insult in your book?"
In my head, I was wondering what he was talking about. He clearly got offended, why he asked for another insult? Is he an M?
"Alright, my bad She-Man. Now we fight, or what?" Dante raised his shoulder, pretending to be confused.
"Hehe... Good one." I gave Dante a thumb's up.
Ranmaru clearly triggered swung his sword and cleaved the pavement. "Marcellus, let's go."
Marcellus didn't answer and just dashed toward us, followed by Ranmaru behind him. I already reloaded the P90 and sprayed it, but Marcellus used his circular shield to block it. Dante charged in between the flying bullets and thrust his sword. The shockwave alone pushed the normal Genma away.
His target wasn't Marcellus, but Ranmaru. The huge body becomes a blindspot for Ranmaru and blows him away. Marcellus, a bit surprised, smashed his sword downward aiming for Dante's arm, but Dante was faster. He pulled back the sword and blocked the huge broadsword falling on him. Boom! A huge aftershock vibrated the ground around where they stood.
I took this chance to swap my empty P90 with the FAMAS. While I walked, I keep shooting at the huge body of Marcellus. Not far away, Ranmaru raised his body and roared. This was too shameful for him to bear.
He let the anger and frustation take over his mind, blindly charging toward Dante and Marcellus who were trading blows. With a two on one fight, Ranmaru believed he could bully this man. However, I didn't let him join Dante's fight. I switched my target toward him instead.
Ranmaru was aware of the incoming bullets, he blocked every bullet that was about to hit him with the flat side of the sword.
A ranged battle seemed to be impossible in this fight. Unlike battling Brainstern before that was 2 on 1, this was a 2 on 2 tag team match. I need to improve my battle plan.
Ranmaru also switched its target from Dante to me. He realized that if he ignored me, I could be a threat in a prolonged fight. I keep shooting at him, but he just zig-zagged in between the bullets. Once I was in his sword's range, he slashed at my body. I used the knife on the FAMAS's muzzle to parry the sword sideways. Ranmaru's sword cleaved the pavement under my feet.
I tried to stab him multiple times, but he easily dodged all of it. Once there was enough space between us he delivered another horizontal slash. I leaped and twisted my body to gain momentum and sent a kick right on his neck. Ranmaru's body was bent down from the impact. He murmured, "It tickles."
He used his left hand and grabbed my leg, the pressure from his grip was cracking my bone.
It hurts!
His sword was raised, ready to cut my leg, but before he continued Marcellus's huge body crashed upon us. We were blown away from the impact. Ranmaru after rolling several times landed on his feet, his sword was stabbing the ground to stop him rolling.
I was still tumbling and slammed to a car nearby. On my finger were two safety pins that were pulled already. Ranmaru looked down to see two egg-like objects.
Boom! Boom!
The hand grenade was reinforced and it blasted Ranmaru several tens meter to the air. I reloaded the FAMAS and sent a barrage of bullets toward him.
Meanwhile, Dante charged over Marcellus, the latter already raised his body from the rubbles of the wall. He picked up a big portion of the wall and threw it toward the charging Dante, but he simply slashed it in half without halting his momentum. The two swords once again met each other, sending another shockwave.
Meanwhile, Ranmaru already recovered mid-air and started deflecting the bullets, although half of his body was already mangled with holes. He landed on the ground and took a cover behind a car. I reloaded and continue shooting him for a while.
Ranmaru was waiting. He was waiting for a delay in between the shots when I reloaded. When the chance came, he ran in between the multiple cars and jumped to where I stood. Well, I was there before, but now Ranmaru only saw another two grenades in my place.
"Fu..!"
BOOM! BOOM!
Once again, he fell for the same trap. The explosion blasted him once again. I switched the FAMAS with two handguns. Clearly, a fast and close-ranged battle like this needs more mobility rather than firepower. It was useless if none of my bullets hits its target.
Boom!
Another explosion was heard from my back. I looked back only to find a building collapsed sending a fleeting shadow flying toward me. It was Dante, he tumbled several times on the ground before getting up.
From the smoke of the rubbles, Marcellus walked slowly. A long diagonal scar was drawn on his body and blood flowed down nonstop.
Dante and I stood back to back, facing our opponents. I noticed that he was also in not so good condition, but still better than his opponent. My feet still hurt but its not a problem.
Ranmaru was clearly pissed of now. His mangled body was much worse than I expected, but he could still move just fine. In fact, he looked crazier than before.
"Round 2?" Dante remarked and smiled. Unexpectedly I was smiling back at him.
This is exciting!
Ranmaru and Marcellus roared, they dashed and charged once again. We also roared to meet their attack.
