章 1047: I'M THAT SILLY GIRL!

I'M THAT SILLY GIRL!

Dad cleared his throat, "Never mind that for now. What's the situation in Morning Light?"

"Oh, the same usual." Jude-Kev's cheery air returned. He patted my head in passing. I wanted to step out of range, but Fluffy-Kai had placed a firm hand on the small of my back so I could not escape.

Jude-Kev's hand on my head surprised me because it was a familiar gentle and warm touch. Before today, the silly girl named Lala had no idea that neither of her blond brothers were adopted. They had been around since the day she was born so she never questioned the genetical theory of how her parents came to have blond kids? Jude-Kev in particular, was 8 years older, so as Lala grew, so did the size of his hand over her.

Jude-Kev was the best brother a girl could ask for. He was good at everything that mattered. Jude was good looking, good at fighting, and good at rallying wolves to his side. He was, in this silly girl's eyes, everything an Alpha should be.

But only because she hadn't ever stepped foot out of the Packlands without the protection of her family. She hadn't seen the world, never mind vampires or other Alphas, Lala had never even spoken to a human in her life.

I mean, look at the way she reacted to Wolfgang. That was super embarrassing. Like the proverbial frog in the well, it was like she had never seen a handsome wolf in her life. Or rather, he was like the Lycan legend prince version of her two blond brothers... Omo. This silly girl.

Had she never seen Bell?

But Jude-Kev had moved to perch on top of Dad's table to boast, "I sorted them out, those rogues won't be back anytime soon."

"That's what you always say." Fluffy-Kai smiled.

Jude-Kev stood up again, "If you think you can do better, you're welcome to exchange packs with me and take care of Morning Light."

"No, no." Fluffy-Kai beamed, "Rogue attacks are so scary and smelly. You know how I'm allergic to blood! I'll leave the rogues to you."

"As long as they don't cross our borders." Dad said.

"They won't." Jude-Kev promised, "As long as I'm at Morning Light, I will be the wall that keeps them out!"

"Or the wall that protects them." Fluffy-Kai smiled.

There was a silence. You could hear a pin drop, but because nobody in the room was clumsy enough or had a pin on hand, it was just completely silent.

Was this what Fluffy-Kai always suspected Jude-Kev of doing, or was this suspicion newly aroused now that we realized who Jude-Kev could have been?

Jude-Kev suddenly turned stony, "Say that again, Kai."

"No, I wouldn't dare." Fluffy-Kai's smiling mask never flickered.

Jude-Kev growled, "Do not test me, Kai. I'm your brother, I'll protect you, but if you cross the line, I'll also beat the hell out of you."

"Is that what you tell those rogues too?" Fluffy-Kai didn't know when to shut up, even in this life.

Jude-Kev threw the office chair nearest to him (the one Beta Lucas liked to sit on) behind him. Jude-Kev was very strong. With just one hand, he slung the entire chair against the wall behind the couch. It made a crashing sound, splintered the wall, and then fell on the coffee table.

I screamed. But only because the chair just flashed past my face when Jude-Kev was swinging it upwards, and I was so shocked at the sudden change in my wonderful amazing big brother that the scream only came out a few seconds later. (Not only was this silly girl, Lala, slow to react, she also screamed like a sissy girl.)

"Jude!" More than one wolf shouted.

"WHO.THE.HELL.IS.F***ING.JUDE?" Jude-Kev roared.

"Good question." Fluffy smiled, "I also wondered which lady would bear the monotony of a one trick pony named Jude."

Jude-Kev started to growl.

"Alpha?" Ben tapped Fluffy on the shoulder.

"Oh! What's this?" Fluffy-Kai was definitely enjoying himself, "Who's the dog now, my lovely beta?"

"Shut it, Alpha." Ben said in his usual deadpan.

Fluffy-Kai laughed, "My lovely beta is so scary. Lala, help me, Ben is bullying me again."

I seriously wanted to hit him. This was not the time to mess around. Jude-Kev was furious! His wolf was so near the surface, and his alpha dominance was scary.

Dad's alpha dominance was also silently seeping out. He didn't have to say anything, all he did was frown, but it wasn't his thinking frown. I had never seen Dad make such an expression before.

So I cried. Like apparently, this was what the silly girl, Lala, would do whenever something frightened her, or made her sad, or angry, or just didn't go her way. She would cry.

Like with real tears that would roll down her cheeks, "Please stop! Don't fight! Lala is scared!"

And instead of running away, she would put herself right smack at the center of the stand off. Completely unguarded, a crying puppy without a shred of self preservation.

And you know why this silly girl, Lala, would do such a silly thing?

Because it worked. Every.single.time.
