Kelly
When we got into the wings Crash was holding my hand so tight it was like we were glued together. His face was serious, utterly pale, and he didn't speak. Just pulled me between wings, then between bodies, without a word. But of course, we didn't even get past the stairs before Duran stepped in his way and started shouting about his earpieces and microphone.
His jaw went tight, but he nodded. Then, as he pulled the second earpiece out and pulled up his shirt so a woman could get under it to untape the cords that were pasted to his body, he tugged me close and shouted into my ear. "Don't say a word until we're alone."
He pulled back and met my eyes then, his face fierce, but his eyes bright. I nodded, swallowing, glad for the excuse. Because I still had no idea what I was going to say. Or do.
