章 67: Underwater

Prince Yang Qui expected that the princess would be uncapable of responding to him. "Now, are you going to change your clothes?"

The princess only blinked slowly at him.

"I guess that's a no," he said. "Can you move? Can you walk?"

Another no answer.

Prince Qui sighed. "You're going to have to pay me back for this." Then in one swoop of his arm, the princess was cradled against him.

Somehow this elicited a reaction from the princess. There was a spark of surprise in her eyes as her arms automatically reached behind his neck. Prince Qui waited but the princess did not say a thing.

"Alright, it's going to be a quiet night."

Then he brought the princess out of the shower and out of their room, dripping wet.

**

It was a bad decision to walk out of the room and into the empty cold hallways of the palace. The wind bit at the prince's skin and he could only imagine the cold that the princess was feeling—well, he knew enough that she was freezing because she had curled closer to him.

Psh, his mind thought. So somehow this person was willing to show weakness.

It was not like he was that much of a source of heat. He was feeling cold himself. He even forgot to wear his slippers so his feet were not thanking him at the moment either. Besides, it did not help that he was carrying a heap of something wet. The water had already seeped through his clothes, drenching his midriff and waist as well.

It took less than five minutes of carrying the small princess before he reached their destination. He pushed the glass door with his hip and swirled the princess.

"Now, do you know how to float?" he asked her.

**

The prince walked to the corner of the pool and started to slowly go down the steps. "You're about to get wet again. Okay?"

The princess was awake and her eyes were open. But it seemed like she hadn't blinked since they left the room. She was someplace else and Prince Qui understood that.

He didn't know if the princess knew how to swim. Hell, she might not even know how to float. But this would have to do.

He gently set her on the water, transferring her weight. The princess' body did not even react that much. She spread herself open and closed her eyes.

Once he knew that she was not going to drown, he pulled his hand away from her lower back and let her go.

**

Tianshi Xue did not know what was happening in her head. It was like everything went blank. There was nothing in there. There was a huge stigma against actors. That was because they were too busy building their careers that they were not able to study a lot. Hence, the common misconception was that they were airheads.

She had been called that more times than she could count. But never had she felt that word now more than ever. There was nothing in her mind. It felt like an empty nutshell. If she would knock on her skull, there would probably hear a hollow echo.

She remembered, there was this little dark tank that a lot of celebrities had tried. A tank that would drown out all your senses. She had never had the guts to try. But maybe this was how it felt like.

With her eyes closed there was just darkness.

Her ears were underwater and she could hear nothing but her own breathing.

Finally, she sighed in relief, some peace and quiet.
