章 11: Something New Is Coming
After awhile everything was finally set up outside. Enough fold out chairs for nearly everyone. Molly's speaker was set up as it was playing music off in the background so people could still talk to one another without having to yell. A fold out table was set up nearby with more alcohol and many plastic cups. After everyone finished setting up the party they all finally relaxed as they either sat around the fire or went inside to get something to eat as all the food was inside to prevent bugs from messing with the hot meals.
Jess was still latched onto Muriel as she was on her phone. Muriel was trying her best to avert her eyes from Shay and his new 'friend' who were currently sitting on the ground next to the fire while looking at her book of spells. Muriel was happy to see Shay so happy but seeing how fast he warmed up to Bebe really sparked Muriel's jealousy. 'It took forever for him to warm up to me. Why with this girl it took him a few minutes?' Muriel thought to herself as she pulled up Hulu so Jess could feel included. 'What's so special about her? She's not that cool. It must be her looks... Right? Damn, I bet it's her chest. Why the fuck do I have to have just a flat chest. GAH!!' Muriel kept getting lost in her thoughts until she felt a soft tap on her shoulder. Looking over she saw Shay looking down at her. She tensed as she didn't realize he was finally away from the sourcer. "Hey Shay. What's up?" She asked causally.
"Can you come inside with me and Bebe? We need you for something." He asked with a serious tone in his voice.
Muriel's heart jolted as she had no idea what was going on but she went along with it as she couldn't be rude. "Sure, what's it about?"
"Jess." He simply said.
Muriel froze as she looked down at Jess watching intensely on Muriel's phone. While glancing at the phone she saw there was a romantic scene. 'Hmm, does she really have an interest in knowing what love is like? I wonder if she even knows what love feels like. She looks awfully focused. Jess.. You don't want to fall in love. It hurts when your not accepted, trust me.' "Jess....Jess.." Muriel raised her brow as Jess didn't seem fazed.
"Jess, go inside." Shay commanded.
The second he said the command, Jess looked up as she unlatched from Muriel while walking inside. Muriel began to slightly panic as she realized something was going on with her pale friend. Something even she couldn't control. 'Am I losing my best friend?'
"We should follow behind her." Shay said with his tone getting more deep and scratchy.
"What's going on Shay?" Muriel asked while feeling really nervous as her smile was fading slightly.
"Based off of what I told Bebe about Jess, she said we need to come up with an energy source to make sure she doesn't have to rely on you. In a battle, you would be a target as your clearly her weakness. She can't stay latched onto you forever. Bebe came up with a way so Jess can control herself. But we both need you to help."
"Why me?"
"Your energy is what we need. The energy that makes Jess the way she is, with emotions and feelings. We need THAT Jess. Bebe said she read a story of something similar to Jess. If she is seen by the wrong enemy. She can easily turn around and kill us. When she's in her stage of no emotion she is waiting for a command with my necklace. When an enemy understands that, I'd be a target and we would be screwed if they get it. But Bebe came up with a way to prevent that from happening."
"What is it?" Muriel asked while they approached the door.
Shay breathed out loud. "You'll see."

"Wait, what did you draw?" Muriel asked while grabbing Shay's book.
"It's a hollow amulet. Bebe said she can place a permanent sealant spell on it after you put your positive aura inside. When she has it inside her body she gets your positive aura coursing through her at all times. Bebe said she can put some other spells inside to make Jess become more like an actual human, as that is all Jess ever wanted. She noticed how she's always so angry. She was wanting to create this amulet with your permission and change Jess into something new. Someone who's not a high risk to hurt us.
"Wait, you want to change Jess completely?!" Muriel asked completely shocked Shay would say such a thing about his own creation.
"Muriel, you know this will be best for her. It's not changing her, it's making her less dependent on others. She can act on her own. Understand, I love Jess more than anything. She's my creation after all, but I see the way she looks at you sometimes and I just.. I want her to feel that way about me too. This can make her open up to anyone around her. Not just you. Please Muriel." Shay begged while looking at Muriel with desperation in his eyes.
Muriel felt her smile fading more as if she was about to show no smile at all for the first time. While glancing over at Jess, she saw her standing in the corner while watching them with no expression. Muriel let out a long shaky breath. "Okay, how do we do this?"
Shay took his book from Muriel. "Simple as this." While signing the open page a bunch of ink filled gauze formed in mid air. The second Shay held his hand out the gauze fell on the palm of his hand. Shay closed his book while placing it in his book carrier he had on his hip at all times. He began unwrapping the gauze until he saw what looked like a glass egg. Muriel looked at the egg slightly confused. "Okay, Bebe can you get the spells ready, please?" Shay asked while glancing at the blonde.
"On it." She said while she already had her book open as it was flipping to the page without her touching.
"Okay Muriel, are you ready?" Shay asked while looking at her in a different look. One she hasn't seen in awhile. Determination.
"Yes. I'm ready." Muriel said while holding her hands out. Shay held the egg out while softly placing it in Muriel's hands. Muriel closed her eyes while focusing all her energy in her hands as all she was thinking to herself was. 'This is for you Jess..'
"Okay that's enough." Shay said while stopping Muriel from filling the egg. "Okay Bebe. You have the other spells ready?"
"Yes. I'll make it quick so the power doesn't go away." Bebe said while holding out her hand over the egg Muriel was still holding.
"A sound soul dwells within a sound mind, and a sound body. Bring life into this soul as she seeks help. Using the spell of Love, Affection, Emotion, and Kindness she will become the closest she can become to a human." As Bebe was speaking, the egg began changing different colors. Muriel couldn't look away as she was shocked it was actually working. "And now...." Bebe's grimware began flipping to a different page. The second it stopped she read until she said the simple word, "Seal." There was heavy aura filling the air the second she said the command. Muriel and Shay watched as the amulet was growing less bright as they noticed the glass was getting much thicker and shined with a thick coating as it was clearly sealed. Muriel and Shay looked at each other then over at Jess.
"Do you want to do the honors Muriel?" Shay asked while looking slightly upset.
Muriel's heart ached as she began to wonder why he would ask something so silly. "Oh course not Shay, she's your creation. Why don't you be the one to fix your first creation. Plus I want you to be the first she sees after she changes." Muriel said from her heart.
Shay's eyes widened in surprise as he grew slightly emotional as a tear was building up. "Are you sure?" He asked while his voice softly cracked.
Muriel nodded while feeling near tears herself as she placed the egg in Shay's hand. Shay looked back at Jess while still holding the egg with Muriel's hand nearly touching his. He let out a soft breath through his nose as he clenched the egg in his hands while walking to Jess. Muriel watched intensely as she knew this was the last time she would see Jess this way.
"Hey Jess. I want you to hold still, okay?" Shay asked walking up to Jess while feeling his whole body shaking the closer he got. She glanced over at her master as she didn't have a single drop of emotion left. Shay held the amulet up to her sternum. He could see the ink slowly seeping though her clothes as she was nothing right now but a wandering body. "Okay, Jess.. Here goes nothing." Shay said while feeling his throat begin to knot as he applied the amulet to her sternum. Seeing it dig deep inside her, he stopped himself when he could see it was halfway inside her. While letting go, he held his hands up while backing away as if he was expecting something to change right then and there. His whole body jolted the second her eyes rolled in the back of her head as she collapsed to the ground. "Shit, JESS!!" Shay and Muriel said in unisync. Shay fell on his knees quickly as he was grabbing Jess by the arms lifting her up. Muriel slide on the knees as she quickly placed her hand on Jess's face feeling if there was any source of life. While looked up at Shay, Muriel's eyes widened when she saw something she never seen before.
"S-Shay, your eyes...Their green." She said with shakiness in her voice.
Bebe was frozen as she didn't know what to do. She quickly flipped through her book trying to come up with anything she could possibly do.
Shay began hyperventilating as he realized what happened. "Muriel... I haven't have green eyes since the day Jess was created. The moment no creation of mine is alive or not dissolved into nothing but ink, my eyes turn green." He said with the tears finally falling from his face.
"No...this can't be happening.. We can't lose her... This can't be happening!!" Muriel yelled out while placing her hands on Jess's chest trying to send as much positive aura she possibly could.
"Muriel.. There's no use.." Shay said while looking down hiding his face.
"NO! I REFUSE TO GIVE UP ON HER!!" Muriel screamed out while balling her fists so tight her nails dug in her skin. While lifting her fists in the air she closed her eyes with violent tears seeping out. She crashed her fists onto Jess's chest as she sent all the power she possibly could consume. At that moment the whole area was filled with a heavy, powerful aura as it felt as if the air was covered in a mist or fog. Muriel breathed out speedily as she felt as if her whole body was becoming lead. Feeling extremely dizzy and tired she collapsed to the ground herself.
"Fuck Muriel!" Shay yelled out while looking down at her body. Bebe quickly ran to Muriel's aid as she knew Muriel used up too much of her energy. Bebe chanted a recovery spell on Muriel. Shay jumped back as he was startled by a loud gasp for air. Quickly looking over he could see Jess with her eyes open as she was coughing while sitting up slowly. "Oh my god Jess, your alive!" Shay said while he quickly hugged her without even thinking. It felt as if all the tears poured out of his system the second he felt her hug back unexpectedly. Shay got what wanted, her love and affection. That's all he ever wanted since the day he created her.
