章 143: Deal

"How come there is..." Bella let her words trail off when she realized she had almost given herself away. She had been about to ask why different dishes were arranged on the dining table, whereas when they were leaving the house earlier that morning, there had been nothing in the refrigerator.

"Wow!" Ben, who had just walked in behind Bella, exclaimed as he hurriedly headed for the table, which had been prepared in a banquet style. 

Dan smiled when he noticed she had almost slipped, "The cleaners came in earlier on to work around the house, and the chef prepared the meal. I wanted to make up for not remembering to feed you yesterday," Dan said with a grin as he held out the chair for her, but before Bella could sit down, Ben moved closer to her and whispered something into her ear. Her eyes rounded in surprise, and Dan noticed a slight blush on her cheek when her gaze quickly darted to him as though she was trying to know if he knew something.
