章 5: "Meeting Her"

Tatum's POV:

I had gotten caught up in chatting with a few clan members as well as sending away some of the many women I was going to have to deal with tonight that I didn't notice when she walked in but her scent was stronger and I felt something pulling at me. Per usual the meeting isn't actually a meeting but more of the clan just getting together to hang out. The new soft, sweet, intoxicating scent lingered strongly in the air and I did a quick sweep of the room before resting my eyes on a woman sitting behind the bar. She was looking down so I couldn't see her face but her hair was a silky black and her skin was fair. I looked out over the room and noticed that several of our younger unmated clan members had also taken notice of her.

I waited a few moments more when I noticed Trevor, a fellow clan member and underling walking towards the opposite end of the bar a few feet away from the young lady at the counter. I stood up and made my way to where Trevor was sitting and sat next to him placing myself between him and the girl. The young woman paid us no mind and didn't even glance at us.

"You want a drink?" I ask Trevor.

"You know I don't drink." He responds as he looks at me.

I glance towards the end of the bar and nod towards the woman sitting there. Trevor looked at me and nodded then cleared his throat. The young woman at the end didn't move a single muscle. Her long black wavy hair hung over one side of her shoulder covering her face but revealing a small piece of tattoo on her shoulder blade. I glance in the giant mirror on the wall behind the counter. The tops of two very detailed wings covered her shoulders and disappeared under the back of her dress. There was a small tattoo on the back of her neck that I recognized well. It's a symbol we all get when we come of age as wolves. It's like a badge of honor.

Trevor cleared his throat once more. No movement.

"Miss." I say in a clear voice towards the young woman but she ignores me and continues to write.

I get up and slowly start walking to the end of the bar.

"Excuse me, miss." I said again.

I was within arm's reach of her and her intoxicating scent enveloped me.

"Miss." I said once more as I reached out and touched her bare shoulder.

Her head shot up at my touch and her eyes met mine. They were as golden as the counter between us and I'm caught slightly off guard as I feel a spark in my chest and my wolf growl within me.

"Yes?" She asks as a slow nervous smile spreads across her lips as she looks at my hand resting on her shoulder.

"My friend and I would like some drinks." I say as I remove my hand from her shoulder and point towards Trevor.

"Oh. Um, ok." She replies in a nervous voice as she puts her pen down and stands from her seat.

I walk alongside her on the opposite side of the bar. I can feel eyes on me as I move to take my seat next to Trevor once more.

"Ok, what would you gentlemen like?" She asks.

"Give me the best rum you have." I replied, locking eyes with her once more.

"Ok, and for you?" She asks looking at Trevor breaking our gaze.

"Um, surprise me." Trevor replies nervously.

"Ok." She says as she turns towards the liquor cabinet.

She grabs the crystal bottle of rum that I was familiar with and poured me a glass. She turned and handed me my drink then turned back to the cabinet. She then grabbed a bottle from the shelf and poured Trevor's drink. She turned around and handed him a shot glass filled with liquor. Trevor looked at it with unease and I smirked into my glass then took a drink.

"I'm only gonna drink this if you drink one too." Trevor says flirtatiously as he picks his shot up.

I hear my wolf growl within me at Trevors behavior and I have to calm myself before snapping at him.

"Oh I don't think that would be very professional if I drank on the job." She replied and I felt myself smile.

Just then Jack walked up behind her.

"Don't disappoint the customers now kid." He says as he slaps her playfully on the back.

A hint of pain flashed in her eyes and I felt anger in my chest. He barely touched her but she winced as if he had beaten her. My wolf growled within me repeating over and over the word mine. I calmed myself again trying to push the feelings to the side and silence my wolf. Her hair was off her shoulders now and I noticed a yellowish bruise on the side of her neck. I wonder if she's been in a fight recently. In any case her wounds should have healed quickly unless they came from another wolf and I wonder silently if that has anything to do with why she's here.

"Oh, um ok." She replies as she turns and grabs the bottle of liquor and pours herself a shot.

I notice a very fresh bruise in a finger like pattern on the back of her arm before she turns back around.

"Ok. Bottoms up." She says with a devilish grin and a gleam in her eyes as she holds her shot glass up to Trevor.

I don't like that look and in one quick movement they both down their shots. Trevor's face becomes distorted and he lets out a low yell. The young lady behind the counter begins laughing.

"I'm sorry. I take it you drink beer and not liquor." She says between giggles with her hand over her mouth.

"I don't drink at all actually." Trevor replies as his cheeks begin to flush.

"Woo that was rough." Trevor says with a cough.

The girl turns back to the cabinet and begins mixing several things.

"Here, try this." She says as she sits a blue tinted drink in front of him.

Trevor eyes it suspiciously and I take slow even breathes as I wonder if she felt the same pull I was feeling and if she was why and how she was ignoring it so easily it seemed.

"Well go on now try it" She says with a gentle smile.

Trevor brings the glass to his lips and takes a small sip.

"Mmm, that's really good." Trevor replies between more sips.

"Would you like one as well?" She asks me glancing down at my near empty glass.

I shrug my shoulders before drinking the last of my rum. She pours two more glasses of her blue concoction and hands me one. Jack comes around and grabs the other glass. He quickly brings the glass to his lips and takes a long drink. A look of surprise spreads across his face.

"This is pretty good missy. I might just have a new bartender on my hands." Jack says with a smile as he glances at me.

" I'll say! What's your name anyways?" Trevor asks.

"What can I say I know my way around the liquor cabinet." She says.

"And my name is Luana Keneally, but everyone just calls me Luna."She continues.

"Interesting name." I say in a low voice before I take a drink of the blue mixture.

I see Luna's eyes dart towards me at the comment as my glass touches my lips. The blue mixture is surprisingly very good. There is little to no alcohol in the drink so Trevor shouldn't be too bad off.

"Well I'm Trevor Willbanks and this…" Trevor starts before I cut him off.

"Titan Alarick. People call me Tatum." I say quickly then finish off my drink.

"Hey can I get another one of these?" Trevor asks, holding his empty glass up.

" Sure." Luna replies and turns to the cabinet again.

I shot another quick message to Kin telling him her name.

"Luana Keneally. Find everything." I send.

"On it boss!" Kin replies.

I quickly put my phone away just before she turns around and hands Trevor another drink.

"So how did you learn to make this? Are you even old enough to drink?" Trevor says flirtatiously again and I let out a low warning growl to him.

Luna cuts her eyes to me once more but continues speaking and ignoring me.

"Well I'm 23 and my father had a love and appreciation for the finer alcohols of the world. It was kind of a dream of ours to open a high class bar such as this one but we never got the chance." Luna replies.

"My father taught me how to mix the drinks to get what flavors and colors etc. and he taught me everything possible." She continues with a soft smile.

"Well the old man's missing out! You two would make a killing!" Trevor replied in a slightly drunken tone.

Luna's eyes dim slightly at Trevor's words.

"Some things aren't meant to happen." She replies with a fading smile before looking down at the end of the bar where her papers sit.

"We're fine here now. You can return to your papers." I reply with a cold nod.

Luna gives me a slight smile but her eyes are empty, emotionless, and cold. I had never had anyone look at me that way and it irritated me immensely. Luna made her way back to where she was sitting and began on her papers again.
