章 92: Signal or Ambush

The travel was not that far but his forces were up to good rest. The unit forces would reach their good location and the Academy roads are pretty decent for now. Artirian have not yet seen any flares up in the sky so there are no given orders for both factions. He already noticed that from the start that every time that there would be an order form those cadets that were on the ground there would be a signal flare-up in the sky.

"Settle up we are taking camp on this on the side road." Artirian shouted to his platoon officers."It will be done, faction leader!" replied by all platoon officers, after those replies the platoon leaders would quickly signal their platoon members to set up camp to the side of the road.

While they are gearing down their weapons and supplies a sudden flare would be lit up in the sky. And followed by another one and another for the first 5 minutes 10 flares would be lit up in the sky.

"Men prepare fortifications around the camp dug up and we will be entrenching ourselves. "Warrant officers make sure there is a lifeline between our movements and the arena garrison forces." The warrant officers would reply with a firm "Yes, Sir".

Then it started. A shout coming from the south of the position of the camp "INCOMING! FIRE" soon volley of arrows would come down on Artirian's position. "Quickly dig up trenches and raise your shields! Don't stop so that we can get cover!" Artirian would be shouting and directing his men so that panic will not overcome his men.

His men would rapidly boost the entrenchment as it would look like an oval entrenchment with few more tunnels. Then followed by 2 forces bound to meet each other.

"Sir we are seeing 2 unit platoons of Red forces coming on our location" then another cadet messenger would say "Sir at north of our position we are seeing 4 units of blue forces heading on our location!" Artirian would then unsheathe his sword.

"Alright sound the alarm we are taking on 2 forces! Warrant officers expect casualties but no fatalities!" Artirian would raise his sword and they would shout "RAHHHH" soon volley after volley of arrows would rain upon them.

"How come we are being hit like this!?" then a warrant officer would ask that question. Then Artirain replied "Support unit return fire if possible don't waste too much ammo" then the warrant officer would get a reply on his question "We are getting ambushed". The warrant officer was not that startled.

"Sir! Sir!" a messenger shouted as he runs to the entrenchment Artirian would then turn around and would see the messenger "What is it?" As Artirian hides from the arrows that were being fired. "The Arena is being sieged once again" Artirian felt a disturbing beat from his heart. It was not that he expected that another siege would come and from the Blue forces again.

While Artirian was thinking of a plan his platoon officers clashed with the 1st unit of the red forces and 2nd unit from the Blue forces. Luckily because they were in an entrenchment position they have the advantage that they hide and not be hit by muskets but they can hit by arrows because they are in fixed positions. But because they are able to build the entrenchment much faster there are some holds for them to go if there are arrow volleys.

"Damn Continue to hold men, hold them back to let them enter the trench" Artirian shouted as he too was fighting with a cadet that quickly fell on the ground because of Artirian swings. One warrant officer cadet would shout "WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS!" then another unit would be marching towards the entrenchment "Move! Move! From their south pinned them down to let those fools take us!"

The fight was not gruesome but it was intense some cadets were really giving a fight and got into hand to hand combat. But some were cautious so if they know they are going to be hurt they would raise their hands and surrender. But some cadets were not merciful because even if you raise your hand they would still hit their enemy.

"ARGHHH damn this buffoon's cant take a little rest RAH" Artirian swings his sword as he would hit the enemy rib and make his enemy fall on the ground and then Artirian would sidekick the enemy on the face making his enemy knocked on the ground.

The Artirian would look at his men and as he looks at them he knows they are slowly being exhausted. "Throw the colored explosives we need to clear the trench!"

"Yes, Sir!" some of the warrant officer cadets would start to lit up a few explosives and throw them at the incoming another wave of cadets. As it explodes coloured paint would splatter and some of the cadets would drop on the ground as if they were scared of the explosion. Then the warrant officer would laugh as they looked at the cadet that was crawling for their lives and some were already crying.

All of those cadets that have some colour on their shirts are considered dead and cannot play again and they will be brought to the infirmary and also those cadets that were knocked on the ground. "HA! Alright boys keep them company URAH! NEW FACTION!" Artirian raised his sword and charge in towards 3 cadets that were pinning a cadet on the trench.

Artrian would then jolt forward and his body would be much faster. His first target is the cadet that was going to strike the cadet that was being pinned. But Artiran would throw his wooden sword directly and it would be a clean hit on the enemy cadets head. Artirian would then leap forward and elbow the 1st enemy cadet. Enemy cadet could not act that quick enough so he was down on the ground.

The two cadets that were beside the first enemy cadet would be startled as to where Artirian came from because in Artirian moves they did not notice Artirian until only Artirian elbowed the first attacker. As soon as they saw that their friend drop on the ground they would grit their teeth and charge forward.

Shouting "RAHH" Artirian would then bow his head and then punch the 2nd cadet in the stomach making the 2nd cadet vomit and felt nausea and the other one would be a kick on his feet and tripped falling down on the ground face first.

Artirian would return to his first victim which is the cadet that was about to strike the cadet from one of Artirian unit platoon.

Artirian would then step on the 1st cadet's hands. "Give up alright" Artirian would then smash the cadets face with his fist. And also the other cadets that were on the ground Artirian would give them a punch on the face. While the cadet that was pinned would still be alive Artirian would call for a Frontliner.

Artirian would be full of sweat; his uniform would be a bit dirty because of the soil and dust that were all around. After that, the wind slowly increased and it became cold and stronger. The leaves were making noise and the clouds were forming a greyish one.

"Hey prepare for a shower we are not able to see foresight but keep signals on high alert warrant officers handle communications while platoon leaders handle the defence for the trench," Artirian shouted.

The battle continues to be intense. Wave after wave of cadets from both sides. But the casualties have increased from the 1k cadets that Artirian has; he now only has 650 cadets on the line and kept fighting. The other 350 were not able to fight any longer.
