章 23: Chapter 23 : The Goblet of Blood Fire

She turns back at the gates with the furious stride with those red robes brushing the marble white floor and her red lotus mark more vibrant than ever in her anger, this time she didn't try to open her wings but she pushes the ground down by the sheer force of her magic and she took the flight again, the guards still on the order made the spear ascended in the air to stop her but she hit the cross from the above with her feet the guard raise above to stop her but Dong Hai eyes turn icy and move his eyes commanding them to retreat and they pulled back in their original position.

She passed the gates, landing straight in front of him. His eyes have followed her every action, every huff to the point of her landing near him. She crossed her arms around her chest and look away from him miffed.

"Nobody can stop me if I don't want to be stopped,"

"Nice, Now go back. I don't need you to follow me," He turns.

Hong Liu looks at him wide eye, shocked by his cold ignorance. She blinked feeling the tears welling up her eyes. She ran after him and grabbed his shoulder,

"Stop!" She manages to keep the shutter out of her voice. Dong Hai was surprised by her reaction, she never did something like this in front of him, where the fiery Little Red was coming from? He turns and his eyes grown a little from his normal cold expression when he saw a tear has about escaped the corner of her eyes.

"Give my wings back!" She was furious but the anger was to hide the fear that thumping in her heart as she met his cold black eyes.

Seeing her like this Dong Hai felt a stiffness in his spine, the things that he locked up in his chest for long try to stir again. No...No...Dong Hai, you can't. He warned himself, freezing those things in the barren land of his stone heart but he couldn't look away from the tear that was about to fall from the edge of her eyelash.

His silence and indifference became the knife in her stomach, she curled her fist in the collar of his robed pulling him towards her forcefully.

"I said give me, my wings back!" She hissed.

His hand raised and his eyes couldn't look away from her furious eyes, his index finger was about to touch the tear, a breath away from it but then he pulled back his hand and waved it. Her wings unfolded themself in their magnificent glory.

"Thank you," She whispers, waves of relief drained her from her anger and she pulled away from him wrapping her arms around herself.

It down her what she did in her shock of not feeling her wings, he is the First Lord the format master of the universe. He protected you, he would never hurt you what you did? She frowns at herself.

Dong Hai observing her behaviour, clearly the wings were a sensitive subject. He was curious but he had no right to ask what is the story so he thought that he could explain his deed.

"I just sealed them, didn't take them away," He turned to leave again.

Hong Liu feeling remorse for her overreaction followed him.

"I know you didn't mean any harm, Forgive me for being impolite with your lordship," She said.

"This time it was my fault," He said, his indifference didn't waver but it was close to an apology that Former master of the universe gave to anyone. They walk in silence, Dong Hai's long unhurried strides were followed by Hong Liu's tiny quick steps so she could keep up with him. Soon her remorse started to feel like a stone in her heart as they teleported on the edge of the Nine Heaven and appeared in a forest.

The forest was not like the Green forest here the trees had a thin trunk but their peaks touch the sky and it was not even dense. The damp earth, however, gave the soothing scent and relaxed Hong Liu's nerve. She kept following some times jumping so he won't disappear from her sight, he appears to walk leisurely but in reality, he covered more distance than her. Hong Liu, when she was sure that she was near enough to him so he could hear her, she started.

"I am the only butterfly fairy who had the heavenly grace to born with wings, I have never seen a day where I have to live without them nor I ever went through a trial for them like all of my clan folks. When I was fifteen thousand years old, two demons had trespassed in the eastern lands and saw me flying they wanted to have those wings for sacrifice because they sense the pure energy from it, so they kidnapped me sealed my wings so I can't safe myself and when they were about to cut them off in the new moon night...Ren and my father found me saved me if they have not come at the right time, I would the only butterfly fairy without wings," She try to joke with last part but it didn't come out as she thought.

They kept walking and Dong Hai kept listening to her tale. This silence unnerved Hong Liu.

"I am not telling you this so you would pity me or anything. It was just an explanation for my overreaction," She sighs as he still said nothing, why he is not saying anything? She told him the things she never told anybody and he....he just walking as a statue would wall, without feeling unmoved by anything.

"I was just scared when I couldn't feel them," She said and she can't understand why she keeps talking over his silence when he even didn't stop and turn to look at her. Did he even listen to what she told him? Leave it! She shook her head, he probably won't say anything even the sky will fall down. She followed him without saying anything anymore.

They reach the shore of the river and Hong Liu's eyes widen as she saw the sight in front of her, they on the bank of the silver river. It was huge, it appears to touch the sky, it was wide enough to cover the half of the shore if it falls down and its surface gave an appearance of rusted gold in the shining sun. Hong Liu's breath was stuck in her throat as she looks at the thing she only heard in the legends the sight was enough to put the terror of doom in any heart, The Goblet of Blood Fire.
