The trip to reach the tower wasn't eventful. I camped out in the open, daring the stupid to try and take on a Lord. Being called a Lord or Lady was considered an honor. Men and women coveted such a lofty status, but it came with a price. Depending on what Source you draw power from, determined the opposing weakness. For example, I can't battle in daylight. my power was weakened by the sun.
It was a pain, but I get by this with my friend. Phantom, a white dire wolf. The species is much larger than a normal wolf, about the size of a Grizzly bear. His job is to provide protection for me during the daylight hours. My other Lord's and Lady also use the wildlife to protect themselves. It's common to have a partner for us. Only an idiot would dare try to strike a weakened Lord. We went everywhere with our partner. Each partner was different as well, mine is a gigantic wolf. I know the Lady of the Sea has a Sea Dragon. But I don't know what the others have. Phantom raised his massive head and bared his teeth. "Seems we have either a stupid thief, or a cautious man." My voice carried a little making the Hunter pause in his approach. His build was slender but chiseled. With his Hood up, all I could make out was his eyes. Steel grey, reminding me of the Lord of the Sky. "Easy My Lord, I am Lord Blackstone. I came because I had a dream of a Lady trapped in a tower. She told me I was to help a man. I didn't think she meant you." I grinned. "So, Thalia sent me more help. She truly cares for my black soul."
"We all do Gabe, not just her. My eagle tells me she isn't too heavily guarded. Taking the tower would be a piece of cake." I stood up and Phantom rose with me. I climbed on his back and turned to face Lucian. "I hope you can keep up." He let out a shrill cry. A cry answered. A large Titan Eagle swooped low and Lucian grabbed a rope tied to and strange saddle. "I may stand a chance." Lucian grinned back at me. The journey to save Thalia just got easier.
