The Medical and Dental Mission was successful, about three hundred students and family members were checked, given medicine, and had their teeth cleaned and some extraction was done. Four more doctors and four dentists from the district hospital were hired for the event.
There were some who were discovered with symptoms of developing a critical condition that was brought to the Pangutaran District Hospital for further treatment. Maketa was happy, and they had their data of the community survey from the health center, and Barangay. They just need to sort out who they will focus the help of the Maketa foundation.
Maketa also asked the help of the Mayor to gather all the weavers, fishermen, and farmers for consultation, training, and seminars regarding their craft. Maketa invited their experts in the weaving, and the BFAR(Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) to help the fishermen. The Philippine Coconut Authority(PCA) was also invited. Their fare and accommodation were shouldered by the foundation.
The foundation was intended to be self-funded by the Takuma business empire but many wealthy philanthropists insisted to donate large sums of money to her programs which Maketa is hands-on in reaching out to those communities that are the poorest and need assistance to stand in their own.
The Maketa staff was so busy with coming up with the sorting and evaluation of the surveys, to know who to help, and what help is matched to their needs.
Maketa donated to their joint cooperative ten new pump boats with advanced weather, navigation, and fishing technology. Fish drying facility, and Coconut drying, and Oil extraction of virgin oil technology. The weavers and metal works were given new raw materials and weaving machines to give more skilled weavers to train others and produce more products that can be marketed and promoted worldwide.
Students who are truly poor are given scholarships and help them up to finish college.
Spiritual health was also important to Maketa. They were never forced to join or transfer religion but they were taught how Christ can change men as new individuals.
The activities of helping were the story roaming around about the Maketa foundation, these stories went viral in the area. Many were happy but there are those who are doubtful and have prejudices. They want to drive Maketa away, they just wait for an opportunity.
Juan went home happy and continued with his BAR review and work. He is also studying his Bible and studying how can man escape the punishment of sin.
He is thinking deeply about the reality of life.
We are true as a man a natural sinner. We lie, we lust, we covet things, we pull down people, we hypocritically criticize others as if we are perfect, we want to be on top of others always, we just being positive focus on our goodness, but we are in need of somebody to save us from our sins that we just want to forget.
Mama told me when I was in grade six before she went to Japan, Christ died because of me. I don't understand that, but it always goes back to me, He died for me. But why? Why death? Why somebody must die for me?
It is a million questions for me. Then I found out that He is claimed to be God. Is it possible for God to be a human being? Immortal to clothe mortality? What could be the reason for such humility that you will leave your glory and glorious place for somebody like me?
It is unbelievable? Or just an amazing thought. What a nobleman, a royalty will humbly level down to a slave, to love, care, and to die to save such a slave?
Is there another option, for man to be forgiven or be saved without death?
Then when Mom went to Japan to work as a servant or caregiver I get the meaning of sacrifice, Mom doesn't want to leave us but she did it to support us. We don't want her to go but we may die of hunger if she didn't. We sometimes got overwhelmed by problems that we need someone to help us.
Misunderstanding God's Word is a dangerous status of thinking. I get what these verses meant now.
Phil 2:8-11: "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
So is He truly God? why would the Father be glorified when we confess Him to be Lord? Why would God the Father allow Him to be knelt down and bowed down, not only of humans but also of those in heaven? Name above every name? Highly exalted?
This verse comes to my mind.
Phil 2:5-6: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"
Being in the form of God, meaning He is God, He does not need to rob or to usurp God of His godhead.
Mama really wants us to enjoy the truth as it is. She has said that we need to accept truth as it is even if we don't understand it fully. Now I mean, I don't understand much but I understand love, sacrifice, humility, forgiveness and to satisfy justice, he paid it by taking the blame, the punishment, the cruel death for criminals. Why? That's the time everything got clearer.
It's like how our brave soldiers who are loyal to their calling. The only difference is they kill to save others, but in that process, they are also killed. But there are real heroes that even they will drop to cover a bomb with their bodies to let others live. That is unselfish kind.
Sometimes we don't understand why people die for a country, for their families, for humanity. Is it not crazy?
But if there where no one to do it, we may be extinct now?
