章 29: Falling Asleep
Adam was in serious trouble. His HP or energy was draining fast and he could not focus to use his magic. He felt like he could seriously die right now.
"Shit."
He complained. He did not think much about the pain, he has long been used to pain. However, what he does not want is to die this time. He did not want to grow weaker while the world grows ever more dangerous.

It was draining at a fixed rate. His body was healing but his energy is running out. That also meant that Adam was growing weaker by the second.
"Heeeelp!"
He screamed.
"I need some help!"
And it was during this time that he finally shed a tear.

Adam saw the numbers. He could feel all of his body's energy being sapped by his lower half to mitigate the damage. Alas, it was all futile as he was still crushed under a rock.
He struggled using his hands to move his body. He used all of his strength to try and nudge the rock.
But it was all futile.

Adam saw the numbers. He saw it trickle down from the hundreds. He saw all of it. And with that, he despaired.
"No! I don't want to lose my family!"
Adam's last tangible thought was of his family. The ever so loving family that took proper care of him, and his best friend in this life, Brian.

In the end, Adam could not do anything. He was weak and powerless. Should he have made sure to kill that Folinr via double-tap, perhaps he could have lived.
"....."
He could no longer speak. He was too weak to do so. Soon enough-

HP has dropped to: 0

His energy depleted.
"Please let me reach him."
She had tears flowing on her face as she ran. She ran towards the explosions that occurred in the commons area.
Although there were plenty of Folinrs to stop her rush, oddly enough, they haven't touched her. No, the Folinrs were hungry and they were aggressive due to that hunger. They did not ignore her, but instead, they could not find her.
She, who was running with loud steps without care for stealthiness, was not detected by anyone. Not the soldiers and not the Folinrs. No one found her as she made her way towards the explosion.
"Please let him be safe." She said but she knew that he was in peril.
It was questionable why she was rushing towards the explosion. She should not have known who caused it and whether the person was safe or not.
Still. She knew that he was in a very bad predicament.
"No! I don't want to lose my family!"
She heard his screams. She was now close enough to hear him. She has arrived by his side-
or so she thought.
"This can't be."
Her legs trembled upon seeing the object that hindered her from going straight to him. She arrived swiftly to the holes in the wall, the holes that connected the Vault to the cavern, but it was blocked by the rocks and dirt.
The cavern has collapsed. At least the area where Adam caused an explosion, nonetheless, she was blocked from the passage.
"I can't give up now."
She chose not to fall into despair. She has spent so long to find him. She looked for his traces everywhere but it was never fruitful. She could never find him before due to a higher power.
However, things are different now. She was given a Gift for him. She never gave up before, much more so now that she has the power to be with him.
She once again ran. This time, she took a detour. She was hopeful that there would be a path to him within the rubble. She found the nearest hole in the wall that did not give in to the destructive power of the explosion but it was still mostly blocked.
"Come on. Lilith! I can do this!"
She motivated herself as she rushed to the wall of earth blocking her path. She stopped once she arrived there and began digging her way through.
"Come on!"
Her fingers blistered and her nails were bleeding. Her hands hurt so much due to digging without tools or gloves. However-
"Just one more push."
She continued.
"Yes. That's it."
Her hands were tattered and her fingers were broken. Her nails were nowhere to be found, it seems they fell as she dug through the earth.
"Yes. Yes!"
However awful her plight was while digging, she did not give up. And the fruit of her labor was that she finally connected her hole to the cavern. She could now see the cavern walls thanks to her sheer will and determination.
"Adam. I have come!"
She continued digging and progressively made the hole much bigger. She was smiling at this time even though she was badly hurt. She was happy that she had the chance to be by his side.
"BREAK!"
The earth surrounding the hole crumbled, making a path that was enough for her to get through if she crawled and she did it without hesitation.
She got inside the cavern. She immediately ran towards a relatively large debris, large enough for a person to instantly die if they get crushed under it.
"ADAM!"
She found him.
She ran to his side and slid to his side, disregarding all the viscera that were near. She carried his upper-body and held him on her chest.
She could not feel Adam's warmth from her hug.
He was cold.
When he saw that his HP has dropped to 0. Adam's vision went blank. There was no more energy to spare for his eyes to function.
However, losing all of his HP did not mean that he died. It just meant he lost all of his energy to recover his injuries. There was only one way to refill energy for Adam, and that is to eat when he was hungry.
And what happens when Adam gets hungry-
Is that something within him took over.

The power that he had no idea of using finally showed itself during his struggle. It was a cause for celebration but Adam was not conscious at this moment.
Adam's body twitched.
'IF IT NEEDS ENERGY!? THEN EAT!'
His eyes suddenly opened widely. His blue eyes turned blood red, it had thirst for blood. This was not Adam at all.
He looked around and saw the corpses of the Folinr near him. He could not reach them because his body is currently crushed under a rock.
"DWIN LO VOTH DOMOSH!" A demonic voice came out of Adam's mouth.
The atmosphere within the cavern changed. The supposedly dark cavern was now tinged with red light. The source of the red light is Adam's eyes.
"Reeeee!"
All the surviving Folinr within the cavern screeched. They felt danger upon the sudden change in mood, they felt the aura of a demon. A demon that they could not fight back. However, they all flew together with the corpses.
A force compelled them to fly and spin around the ceiling. They were spinning slowly at first, then the force sped up and the spinning became faster and faster.
"Reeeee!"
They were spinning too fast that their skin and bones rend their flesh. They were being ground to death by the spinning momentum. And once the spinning finished, there was only bloody minced meat left, a large ball of visceral remains.
The ball slowly thinned itself and flew towards the red-eyed Adam. He opened his mouth and let all of the meat pass through towards his stomach. It was a baffling amount to be taken in one stomach but for some reason, it all fit.
"AHAHAHAHA"

Energy filled Adam's body due to taking in all of the corpses inside his body. It was an expected result as Adam did have the ability to turn food into energy due to his body being reconstructed by Gaia's Essence.
However -

Memory: 20% + ??%

Something else also came up as a result of eating all of the Folinr within the surrounding. A memory from the long past that should never have surfaced. It was now within Adam's head.
"DON'T NEEDLESSLY CROAK AGAIN NEXT TIME." The demonic voice said with a fading voice.
'I CAN'T STAY LONGER.'
The voice finally faded away and Adam's shining red eyes closed. Its presence was overtaken by the memory that is absorbed from the corpses. These were memories that were never supposed to be known by anyone because a higher power locked it away.
And Adam fainted once again. This time, it is due to falling into a deep sleep as he processed the absorbed memory within his brain.
"ADAM!"
Lilith's voice echoed within the cavern.
